Before the sea of monsters I imagine that for the longest time Grover would tear up whenever he would see Thalia's tree. I imagine him blaming himself over and over again while the memory of her dying replays in his head like a broken record. I imagine him crying all by himself in the woods while continuously asking himself "why couldn't it have been me instead?"
I've read so many fanfics where Drew Tanaka's character is explored, where she is given depth and backstory, where she interacts with other characters, where her feelings and experiences are described.... now I want to cry and hug her.
SAME! It's such a shame that we don't get to see much of her. That's definitely a mistake on Uncle Rick's part, I mean- our girl has very little appearances yet there are so many people that find her character to be genuinely interesting to the point where there are plenty of deep character discussions about her and fics that gives her her own backstory on why she is the way she is.
She's such an interesting character and has so much potential to bring a lot on the table that its so disappointing that her main purpose on the series was to bully Piper and be a bitch so that Piper can show how "different" she is.
It would have been great if Uncle Rick went into more depth and explored her character, or at least given us something more! Like how the war and Silena's betrayal affected her, not to mention suddenly having to be responsible for a cabin full of kids. But instead we were shown a one dimensional bitch!
It's such a waste it's frustrating!
It's hard to remember when I was in elementary school nowadays. So my memories of reading Rick Riordan's books for the first time are hazy. But I don't think I ever hated Leo and Calypso getting together. Now, allow me to speculate as to why that might have been. And that may just turn into a really, really long ramble on my part.
As a 10-15 year old, I was cognizant of shipping (and did read stuff like that online), but I was also just fine with happy endings to my stories. And since Leo didn't die, that was good enough for me. The book ended happily, with most major characters (besides octavian, who sadly died) surviving. That was enough to please me, I think.
And now, to just speak from my more modern, 19 year old perspective: I hate how Calypso was punished with eternity on an Island. Nobody ever stayed with her, nobody ever seemed to care. The fact that Leo came back for her…well, that touched me. It's what I'd wanted Percy to do in the Battle of the Labyrinth. It's something I'd been waiting to see for so long. So to see that someone, literally anyone, cared enough about this poor lady to save her from her prison… it's wonderfully touching.
I saw this on Pinterest and it's the best fucking thing ever.
Just updated all 3 of my fics this week.
I feel good about myself ☺
This sent me into an actual spiral 😭
I love Drew Tanaka so much but going through her tags and seeing stuff like this hurt in the most gut wrenching way possible
-Growing up never being taken seriously by anyone because of her looks
-Finally having people truly listen to her at camp
-Trying to figure out her godly parent
-Ares, maybe? The campers wonder, seeing her yell with the anger of war
-Not getting claimed, slowly accepting it
-Charmspeaking someone during Capture the Flag
-Silena realizing and telling everyone what it was
-Drew becoming the unclaimed daughter of Aphrodite everyone knows about
-Slowly being ignored and getting less and less training
-Befriending Alabaster Torrington, someone who, like her, knows their godly parent while being unclaimed
-Alabaster joking the Army and holding his hand out to Drew, to bring her with
-Her reaching out to take it, only to stop when she hears Silena calling her name, looking for her
-Saying goodbye to her best friend to stay with her sister
-Starting to date Lee Fletcher, hating the idea of the Rite of Passage
-Before the Battle, Lee making her promise that, above all, to protect Will, his little brother
-Lee dying
-Drew grieving, taking Will and running, deeper and deeper into the Labyrinth
-Alabaster and Ethan finding them, bringing them to the Princess Andromeda
-Drew not knowing Silena is the spy
-Drew learning about the Cabin Ten curse, Nemesis laughing as she recounts the story
-Drew working her way to the top and becoming one of Luke’s generals
-Drew breaking the heart of a random mortal boy, who looks all too much like Lee
-Silena dying, known as the traitor
-Zeus letting Drew go free, because of the dumb Aphrodite stereotype she had tried so hard to fight, had joined the Titans for
-Getting claimed right as she sees Silena’s body
-Drew becoming head counselor the day of her 14th birthday
-Having Aphrodite’s blessing for months, as an apology for not being claimed earlier, still having it at the start of TLH
-Piper coming along, too much like Silena, refusing the Rite of Passage
-Drew looking at Jason, knowing what will happen to him
-The war against Gaea.
-Drew Tanaka, seen as a shallow, self-absorbed Aphrodite girl by most of camp
-Drew Tanaka, survivor of two wars, outliving most of her friends and family
-Drew Tanaka, who became exactly what she hated in the first place
will ranting to nico in a very intimate, soft, vulnerable moment about how michael would have loved him. about how they shared music taste and aesthetic, and how michael would have taught nico all about the punk and goth subcultures, and how he would have gifted nico shirts and CDs and how he would have loved him from the moment will walked into cabin 7 with him and would have told him nico was perfect for him!
nico has talked to michael's ghost before, after the war, and he knows michael thought he was cool and would have been a good friend with him. he already knows everything will is saying, but he can't bring himself to tell him because there's nothing like hearing him talk about his passed-away siblings with a voice that sounds more like love than like grief.
Question: Can mortals see the celestial bronze swords or other demigod weapons? Like I know the weapons can't hurt mortals but can they be seen by them?
✨✨ A Pick Up Line To Use On A Percy Jackson Fan: ✨✨
: Hey there, who's your godly parent?
: Definitely Hermes.
: Really? Could have fooled me cuz you look like a child of Aphrodite ;)
Do you guys ever think that Percy dreads going to Camp Half-Blood? I genuinely believe that the only reason he stayed was for Annabeth and Grover
Because I saw this TikTok and realized that Camp Half-Blood may not be that sanctuary for him that most people think it is.
For example:
In his first year, people avoided him after finding out that he was the son of Poseidon (which is right after he was starting to feel like he belongs btw so that feeling must have been worse) It got better after his quest, but still.
Then his second year people bullied/made fun of him because of Tyson to the point that he was embarrassed of him.
Then in his third year, he was basically cast aside because of Thalia's return.
Don't even get me started in his fourth and fifth year.
He went into that boat with Beckendorf and came back alone to deliver the news that he's dead. Then all hell broke loose in CHB in the battle of the labyrinth.
The battle of Manhattan was fucking gruesome, and he didn't even finish his fifth year because he was kidnapped by Hera.
No wonder he chose to New Rome.
REAL!
We don't even know the truth about Daring and Duchess!
Like- what if Sparrow invited Daring to the movie but then forgot and invited Duchess as well?
Or vise versa?
Misunderstanding and for what?! 😭
Epic winter writers when I get you…
