Hi Adam! I hope you're having a good day. I have a NASA shirt and a bracelet with planets n it that remind me of you.

Have you heard about the two astronauts that recently came back from space after being up in the ISS for a long time? What are your thoughts on that?

- 🧷 anon

Good evening!,

That is kind of nice to hear, actually. About the bracelet and the shirt.

And yes, I did read about the two. Spending that long in microgravity changes your body in ways we still don’t fully understand. It’s incredible what the human body can adapt to—but also, what it can’t. Your muscles atrophy, bone density drops, your cardiovascular system shifts. Even your eyesight can change. Some astronauts develop something called SANS—spaceflight-associated neuro-ocular syndrome. And then there’s the radiation exposure. Being up there for months is like being slowly rearranged by space. I think there must be something quietly haunting about coming back to Earth after so long..

Hello Dr. Lecter!,

I am very relieved to see that you are back. I am looking forward to our appointments as well.

I already asked Beth about it, she told me that she is more than excited to meet somebody as Prestigious as yourself.

That did surprise me considering she’s usually not as open to people from my life.

We will be there Friday evening!

I took the job offer in Baltimore.

I will be working as a guide at the Davis Planetarium. I’m very happy it worked out. The planetarium has such a rich archive and so many exhibits in rotation! I’ll have a lot to learn and organize, and even more to share. I am already experiencing a lot of excitement about that.

That means Beth and I will be moving to Maryland soon, leaving New York behind. I will miss New York. But I’m looking forward to seeing some people in Baltimore. And it’ll make getting to Dr. Lecter’s appointments easier, once he returns from his retreat.

What is your favourite subject at the planetarium? (If you have one, I like shows about stars the most)

-🦌 (can I use this to sign off? )

Yes, you can! Nobody has used that one before. So far I have seen only #🧩 and #🔭.

I like the shows about stars as well. In fact, I have a monitor in my apartment that projects pictures of the galaxy across the entire room. It helps me feel more connected to everything, even if it’s all just pixels.

But planetary science is probably my favorite. I think the way each planet is so different, but also part of the same system, makes me think about how things connect even if they’re not always obvious or identical to each other.

Thank you, Tonny.

Beth was over today. She took this picture while I was reading and said I should post it.

So I am.

Beth always hated the idea of this blog. She didn’t want me posting as much so I didn’t.

All this time I tried so hard to make her happy. I stopped interacting with people I like because it made her uncomfortable, I stopped talking as much because it made her uncomfortable, I stopped behaving like myself because it made her uncomfortable.

I hate her and I hate myself.

Oh, Adam. Beth didn’t deserve you, not by a long shot. I hope you’re doing okay. You always have a place to stay at mine if you ever need it.

- Duncan.

Thank you, Duncan.

I appreciate that you always welcome me.

I think I want to be alone in my apartment for now. I miss familiarity.

I didn’t ask her because I got nervous about it. I am not good at this stuff.

But she suggested going to the museum together. I think that would be a good idea—to do something she’s interested in.

Although I would much rather go to the planetarium.

I thought of taking Beth to the planetarium sometime, but I’m not sure if she’d like it

whats your favorite constellation? mine is boötes!

Lyra. It’s small, but distinct. The brightest star in it—Vega—was once the North Star, and it will be again in about 12,000 years. The sky shifts in ways we barely notice.

It’s named for Orpheus’ lyre. After his death, the gods sent it to the stars. A consolation prize. A memorial. I like that—how something once full of music is now silent, but still luminous. Still present.

Boötes is a good choice. The herdsman, always watching over the bears as they circle the pole. There’s something steady about it. Something patient. If Lyra is a lingering echo, then Boötes is the figure who listens to it, night after night.

Adam, have you ever seen Cosmos with Carl Sagan? I've always wanted to watch the original but I've only seen the reboot with Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

- 🧷 (safetypin-non)

Yes, I watched it many times. More than I can count. It’s my favorite show.

You should watch it, I can only recommend it.

The winter air is good for stargazing. Less humidity means clearer skies. If you stayed out longer, you might have seen more. Smokers often feel temperature differently because of circulation changes. I wonder if that affects how long you would’ve stayed otherwise.
