Jon Bernthal as Braxton THE ACCOUNTANT 2 (2025)
If anything, I really feel as though that episode cemented the fact that despite their lingering feelings for one another, Matt and Karen are capable of being 'just friends'.
Frank and Karen are not. They will never be able to be around one another without emotional devastation following because their feelings are that strong. There is no such thing as ~casual~ for them, they can't just meet up for diner coffee and gossip because they can't pretend they don't want each other. Frank can't even look her in the eyes without laying his soul bare! There is no reality in which these two people are just casual buddies.
I think they will continue to be in each other's corner, but Karen walking away really cemented that she can't do the halfway in, halfway out thing that she can do with Matt. It's all or nothing.
Either Frank lets her in and the two of them are together for real, or she can't be in his life.
they even had frank jealously prowling around while matt and karen talked like. i feel delirious. I didn't think we could win this much.
doing some doodling and experimenting

"The most terrible loneliness is not the kind that comes from being alone, but the kind that comes from being misunderstood. It is the loneliness of standing in a crowded room, surrounded by people who do not see you, who do not hear you, who do not know the true essence of who you are. And in that loneliness, you feel as though you are fading, disappearing into the background, until you are nothing more than a ghost, a shadow of your former self."
- George Orwell, 1984
He does the same to Karen, pushing her away just when she re-enters his life. Reflecting on that, do you think Frank loves Karen, that he genuinely feels that way?
“I think he does, and I wish that we could have had a little bit more time together. It’s a relationship worth exploring. I think if anybody could handle Frank, it’s Karen. He says to her, “You’ve got to stay away from me. I know for a fact now that I’m the one that brings all this darkness,” and it’s funny because I think Karen truly understands that and accepts that. She can handle it. But it’s part of the evolution of Frank realizing that solitude is the only way forward.”

When your man takes off his beard and you see him with no bruises for the first time ever and you're trying and failing not to stare at his handsome face.
when it comes down to it, it’s only fair (if not painfully canonical) for karen to be there—helping frank’s ass out of whatever rundown warehouse he’s been stashed in. like. of course she’ll do something when she finds out. of course she’ll find him. she will be there. that’s what they do. that’s them.
