Why "Panic"?
Because it’s what I do!
I live with depression, anxiety, obsessive skin-picking, and some lingering trauma.
My brain spends a lot of time telling me things like “If you don’t get a perfect grade on every paper you write, you will flunk out of grad school, never get a job in your field, disappoint your entire family, and probably die of, like, a bot fly infestation or something.”
It’s not fun, but I’m doing waaaaay better than I was, even just a few years ago.
Figure studies from IWTV, Louis and Lestat, done with Molotow and Posca paint pens.

This piece came about as an attempt to visually depict how I experience music. Possibly due to my Autism, I do not seem to listen to/experience music the way other people I have discussed this topic with experience music. I recognize that there is an underlying meter, a rhythm, a beat, that allows a person to "follow the music;" the beat is also what people follow when they dance. I can force myself to identify and follow a beat, but it requires significant concentration on my part, is not what comes naturally to me, and is not how I enjoy listening to music. My attention often skips back and forth between different sounds, following the bass sounds for several moments because I enjoy that specific section, then switching focus to the crescendo of a violin, to the sound of the singer's voice, the drums, back to violin, bass, voice, a new sound.
By connecting colors, patterns, and material to specific aspects of a musical piece, I have attempted to create a depiction of my experience of the music.
(I also decided to leave the edges of the different photos I took, to give an impression of the number of images needed to create a decent representation of this weaving.)
So I’ve scanned the pages of my risographed fashion study zine (you can buy that here)

Reaching that point in working on a piece where I lose any sense of reality and my brain just chants "I AM A GENIUS I AM A GOD" over and over. Well, working in customer service until 11:30 pm will certainly beat down that overblown sense of confidence. Off to work!

!~Pretty Alien II~!
Here's the full body version of my Pretty Alien Sailor Moon. The tentacles on the face are sensory organs, but the tentacles on the chest and lower back are limbs. The tentacles evolved as a way to carry one's young and still have full use of one's hands. The opposable thumb on the feet is what gives the impression that Sailor Moon wears high heels. The "skirt," like the "collar," is a wattle that's inflated during mating displays.
I might revist this as a traditional painting...

@staff
these are all of the posts that I just sent in appeals for. I received NO email notification that they had been flagged and NONE of them showed up in my “review flagged posts” section.
Second in my series of practice portraits.
It's funny... most people won't buy portraits of random people but people won't commission you to do portraits if they can't see other portraits you've done. So I'm making portraits that will just sit in my room lol.
