I feel like Alpha doesn’t get enough appreciation. He was the original Rex. For anyone who doesn’t know Alpha, he was one of the only clones to be hand trained by Jango Fett himself. A special kind of ARC Trooper who had more freedom in terms of opinions and following orders. The only reason he was renamed Rex in canon is because Filoni felt like there were already too many named beginning with A (Anakin, Ahsoka, Artoo, Asajj)

“what art program do you use”

on desktop I use Paint Tool Sai (version 2) . I make 80-90% of my art in sai. interface is slightly dated (no dark mmode 😭) and no mobile app, but it’s super smooth and fast. and the brush engine is amazing. some of my art files are big and other art programs can lag or crash on them, but sai is always like..relax, I got this

on mobile/ipad I use a scattering of apps depending on mood. my gotos are becoming Clip Studio Paint (paid) and Adobe Fresco (free version) but I also have Ibis Paint, Procreate, Medibang, Autodesk Sketchbook…. all of these have varying kinds of free and paid features, multiplatform support, ability to sync w desktop, etc

my drawing program power strat is: try them all for a while!!

when I was new to ipad, lots of the cool good artists were hyping up Procreate. so I bought that. I wasnt… super impressed. the layout doesn’t feel intuitive to me, I don’t like how it hides a lot of palettes away. But bc I spent $$ on it and all these great artists were talking about how amazing it was, I felt like I should force myself to keep using it and get comfortable with it. that was silly, I should have just invested that time into figuring out an app that I didn’t have to “fight” from the start. there’s tons of apps out there so find what works for you.

I do hate spending money on apps I end up not using much but like. money spent isnt enough to justify sticking with something that makes drawing feel bad!!!

meanwhile I have a… complex relationship with Adobe Fresco bc: 1. the features are limited, 2. adobe blows and 3. it tries to get you to upgrade (pay). BUT,, the default pencil brushes in it just feel sooooo nice lmao. so I end up using it a lot for casual sketching just because it just feels good to draw in! :) ultimately that’s all that matters!

so, play around with everything. and if you don’t feel comfortable or proficient drawing in that app that all the big artists are recommending, don’t beat yourself up over it, move on!
