The support I have gotten with this silly clangen blog has been absolutely incredible and I cannot thank you all enough.
So to celebrate this milestone and to say thank you, I want to give back in the best way I can with a blog like this!
I will be selecting 3 winners on 01/19/24 who will be able to make a character that I will place in one of the outside groups of my clangen! They can be in one of the three outside clans, starclan, or even just a loner! They may appear more than once depending on when the opportunity arises in the clangen, and you will be credited for the character whenever they appear!
You may enter two times total, by reblogging and liking this post! You must be following me to enter.
If you reblog to a sideblog, please tag the blog you follow me from! Multiple reblogs from one person only count for one entry.
I wish to see the babies
what would you guys say if i told you that due to recent clangen developments, we now have 9 new kits.
NINE.
So I'm working on the outline (i'm getting the whole thing outlined before I start writing btw. Part of why idk what to do with DaS is because I have no clue where to take it) and The Divine Inspiration hit me.
I have never had divine inspiration hit that hard, that fast, or that suddenly before. It's like the gods of creativity said "WRITE" and I, a humble pawn, had no other option but to obey. Problem is, it's the last three chapters. I'm still working on 6 and 7 and there's 30 in total. + a possible epilogue. So we're still working through it, but we're working.
In related news, the divine inspiration gave me a theme to focus my story around, so there's that too.
@yo00ru
Sans and Papyrus meet you, a TA, while picking up Frisk, and Sans suddenly understands the term "Meet-cute" that Alphys had always fawned over. Or was it "love at first sight?" The difference doesn't matter to him. All that matters is watching how your face crinkles as you giggle at a bad pun he made, and how your eyes fly open in shock with the classic "whoopee cushion in the hand" trick.
You spend more time around them and Sans is falling hard. You not only love space too, and love Grillby's (though you have no tab, fortunately for Grillby you were always on top of paying it), but you loved puzzles and were high energy, just like his brother.
The three of you were thick as thieves, with every home cooked meal and every late night on the phone because you couldn't sleep and every interaction making Sans fall even harder for you.
One day, during Frisk's birthday party, Sans overhears you, Alphys, Toriel, and Undyne (can it really be overhear when Undyne is only slightly quieter that Papyrus) talking. Something you said sounded like hot gossip, given the "oohs" coming from the group. Sans shortcuts slightly closer, feigning disinterest as he listens in.
He freezes when Alphys speaks.
"A crush, huh? Who's the lucky guy?"
"Or gal," Toriel interjects.
A crush? On who? His stomach twists at the though of some random guy sidling his way between the two of you and stealing you away.
"Ah, well," you start, sounding bashful. Sans doesn't even need to turn to know you're looking anywhere but at them. "You know him quite well. I'd even say you're friends with him."
Wait, really? Could it be?
"We have a lot in common, and uh..." you rush out the rest, almost too quiet for him to hear, but he was straining to hear you at this point. "He's a skeleton."
Undyne startles him with how loud her "WHAT" is, but Alphys, ever the saint, pulls her down and kisses her cheek. She's gotten bolder since surfacing. Meanwhile, Sans is on cloud nine.
He's good friends with Toriel and Alphys, even though he hasn't spoken to the latter in a while. And your shared love of bad jokes, greasy food, space, and science are definitely not lost on him. It must be him, right? A few minutes pass between you four before you finally give in, promising to confess during the Fall Festival. He's never felt like dressing up before a festival, but now he certainly does.
The festival rolls around, and he's excited. He put more effort that he usually does into his outfit, and even got you your favorite snack from Muffets and some fries from Grillby's. Despite Papyrus' complaints, his sigh was through a smile as your nerves from seeing the both of them dissipated around the sweet and salty foods.
The entire walk through the festival, Sans can't help the nervous excitement flowing through his veins. The question of when floods his system. Will you ask before the fireworks? During? Before you head home? He can't stop picturing each scenario, all of them ending with you leaning forward as you kissed him. He'd drown in your smell if he could.
Papyrus, meanwhile, had been winning carnival game after carnival game, all for the plushies your eyes lingered on for a second too long. He was so cool, Sans thought. It was great that you both got along. You both were discussing a puzzle you had bought for him, and how you had struggled with it for hours while it only took Papyrus a few minutes to solve.
Eventually, the three of you split off right before the fireworks start, and Sans is looking for you. He's finally decided that he should confess to you, before you lose the chance. He got you both caramel apples.
He spots you and Papyrus standing by the lake, sauntering over as he prepares an excuse to get Papyrus away for a few minutes.
Your hand was on Papyrus' upper arm as you told him something, turning away as you finished. He wondered what you told him.
...
Why was Papyrus leaning in so close.
Why weren't you leaning away.
...
Ah.
He stands there as he tells himself that he should be happy. His brother was so cool, and he wanted what was best for both of you. You always had more in common with Papyrus than him anyways. Papyrus would be able to keep up with you in ways Sans never could.
Sans was lazy and he never liked puzzles all that much, preferring the daily crossword over anything else. You went on runs with Papyrus, solved puzzles with him, baked with him, hell, your favorite food was spaghetti, for crying out loud. You two were made for each other.
He should be happy.
...So why was he crying?
---
Slapped this together after reading too many angsty romantic poems in one night and needed to get this out. Probably poorly written and for that I am sorry but the brainrot took hold.
But yeah, the idea is that Sans wants you but he loves you and Papyrus too much to even entertain the idea of breaking you two up.
Ok ok ok
Hear me out
One sided/unrequited Sans/Reader
But instead of Sans falling in love with Toriel
Itâs Reader falling in love with Papyrus
Donât hurt em now Sansâźď¸
Hey guys, Dragon8er here!
I made a lil Sans Dance gif. For fun. And I liked how it turned out, so I decided to post it. 'Cause why not
This sprite is based on my interpretation of Undertale Sans's design. So that's why it's a bit more detailed than his normal sprite.
I got some other projects cookin, so stay tuned for all dat. Until then, this has been Dragon8er, and I wills see you all Drago-l8er!
I'm looking at an old abandoned outline for a fic I made almost half a year ago and I'm just like "Damn I cooked here".
Given that I'm in a creative rut regard DaS, I feel like abandoning that fic for the time being is fine since the best I would be able to put out right now is a half baked chapter and a lot of resentment towards my fic.
All this to say I'm starting a new fic in an undisclosed amount of time.
Hooooooomygawd. This is exactly what I was ranting about in my last post! I shouldâve been posted this, but of course everytime I try I get immediately distracted and start scrolling or completely forget and walk away doing something else đ . BUT HEYYYYY IM HEREEEE, and Iâve decided this weekâs spread is underfell based since thatâs what most doodles I had weređ. So letâs just jump right into it,,
1-4.)First off an Underfell! Papyrus spread cause I luv him and I wanted to have one to match his brother. Iâve been planning on doing spreads for each skeleton but obviously thatâs going to take a little longer than planned lol! My underfell papyrus has no eye-lights, not because heâs blind but because I like it best aesthetically. I also hc he wakes up early to go to the store, but is still grumpy cause itâs 5 amâŚeven though itâs his personal routine he did to himselfđ. Though! He wears sweats and thatâs the ONLY time youâll catch him in some sweats. His primary weapon is a sharp ended bone for easy access, heâs 6â6 with his heeled boots on, which are inspired by a certain someone. Finally, he has a stinky lazy cat named Doomfanger, I personally donât like cats but Iâd try for him,,
5,6,7.)HOO doggy I needs himđŠ my uf!Gaster otherwise known as âEgoâ n some background info for him and the boys when they were younger. He was the Royal Mad Scientist and very smart yet incredibly self centered, his experiments sons Sans and Papyrus stay home until he gets back after long hours and can be gone for days at a time. Though his oldest, Sans is very responsible they still wish he didnât work his hours. Finally, before his disappearance into the core, his sons were both visiting before everything went down, Dr.Gaster, who after finally achieving SOMETHING within the core is faced with two incredibly difficult choices, he who is OBVIOUSLY MAD!!!!!??! Decides to instead leave his children in order to see the truth. This without a doubt is one of the first of many hardships young Sans and Payrus face.
8,9,10.)Last but not least a cat study page for Doomfanger since I found out I wanted to draw a cat without knowing how to draw a cat whatsoever, so I practiced!! Doomfanger is stinky cause he doesnât like baths, lazy from lack of discipline (surprising but Edge canât even yell at the poor thing.), and greedy from overeating, does this sound like someone we know?đ He has a scar across his left eye and half his fluffy tail is almost bare leaving only fluff at the end. Doomfanger doesnât get along well with his uncle, which many find odd as theyâre incredibly similar, too bad they donât see it themselves. (Bonus Edge holding kitten Doomfanger, the beginning of a deadly friendship. And yes this one is noticeably newer than the others but itâs on the same page and fits the theme so letâs assume it was there from beginning đđ)
I don't like the term 'Writer's Block' - not because it isn't real, but because the term is so vague that it's useless. Hundreds of issues all get lumped together under this one umbrella, making writer's block seem like this all-powerful boogeyman that's impossible to beat. Worse yet, it leaves people giving and receiving advice that is completely ineffective because people often don't realize they're talking about entirely different issues.
In my experience, the key to beating writer's block is figuring out what the block even is, so I put together a list of Actual Reasons why you may be struggling to write:
(note that any case of writer's block is usually a mix of two or more)
What it looks like:
You write one sentence and spend the next hour googling "synonyms for ___"
Write. Erase. Write. Rewrite. Erase.
Should I even start writing this scene when I haven't figured out this one specific detail yet?
I hate everything I write
Cringing while writing
My first draft must be perfect, or else I'm a terrible writer
Things that can help:
Give yourself permission to suck
Keep in mind that nothing you write is going to be perfect, especially your first draft
Think of writing your first/early drafts not as writing, but sketching out a loose foundation to build upon later
People write multiple drafts for a reason: write now, edit later
Stop googling synonyms and save that for editing
Write with a pen to reduce temptation to erase
Embrace leaving blank spaces in your writing when you can't think of the right word, name, or detail
It's okay if your writing sucks. We all suck at some point. Embrace the growth mindset, and focus on getting words on a page
What it looks like:
Head empty, no ideas
What do I even write about???
I don't have a plot, I just have an image
Want to write but no story to write
Things that can help:
Google writing prompts
If writing prompts aren't your thing, instead try thinking about what kind of tropes/genres/story elements you would like to try out
Instead of thinking about the story you would like to write, think about the story you would like to read, and write that
It's okay if you don't have a fully fleshed out story idea. Even if it's just an image or a line of dialogue, it's okay to write that. A story may or may not come out of it, but at least you got the creative juices flowing
Stop writing. Step away from your desk and let yourself naturally get inspired. Go for a walk, read a book, travel, play video games, research history, etc. Don't force ideas, but do open up your mind to them
If you're like me, world-building may come more naturally than plotting. Design the world first and let the story come later
What it looks like:
I know I should be writing but uugggghhhh I just can'tttttt
Writing words feels like pulling teeth
I started writing, but then I got bored/distracted
I enjoy the idea of writing, but the actual process makes me want to throw my laptop out the window
Things that can help:
Introduce stimulation: snacks, beverages, gum, music such as lo-fi, blankets, decorate your writing space, get a clickity-clackity keyboard, etc.
Add variety: write in a new location, try a new idea/different story for a day or so, switch up how you write (pen and paper vs. computer) or try voice recording or text-to-speech
Gamify writing: create an arbitrary challenge, such as trying to see how many words you can write in a set time and try to beat your high score
Find a writing buddy or join a writer's group
Give yourself a reward for every writing milestone, even if it's just writing a paragraph
Ask yourself whether this project you're working on is something you really want to be doing, and be honest with your answer
What it looks like:
I was feeling really motivated to write, but then I opened my laptop
I don't even know where to start
I love writing, but I can never seem to get started
I'll write tomorrow. I mean next week. Next month? Next month, I swear (doesn't write next month)
Can't find the time or energy
Unreasonable expectations (I should be able to write 10,000 words a day, right????)
Feeling discouraged and wondering why I'm even trying
Things that can help:
Follow the 2 min rule (or the 1 paragraph rule, which works better for me): whenever you sit down to write, tell yourself that you are only going to write for 2 minutes. If you feel like continuing once the 2 mins are up, go for it! Otherwise, stop. Force yourself to start but DO NOT force yourself to continue unless you feel like it. The more often you do this, the easier it will be to get started
Make getting started as easy as possible (i.e. minimize barriers: if getting up to get a notebook is stopping you from getting started, then write in the notes app of your phone)
Commit to a routine that will work for you. Baby steps are important here. Go with something that feels reasonable: every day, every other day, once a week, twice a week, and use cues to help you remember to start. If you chose a set time to write, just make sure that it's a time that feels natural to you- i.e. don't force yourself to writing at 9am every morning if you're not a morning person
Find a friend or a writing buddy you can trust and talk it out or share a piece of work you're proud of. Sometimes we just get a bit bogged down by criticism- either internal or external- and need a few words of encouragement
What it looks like:
I have no problems writing other scenes, it's just this scene
I started writing, but now I have no idea where I'm going
I don't think I'm doing this right
What's an outline?
Drowning in documents
This. Doesn't. Make. Sense. How do I get from this plot point to this one?!?!?! (this ColeyDoesThings quote lives in my head rent free cause BOY have I been there)
Things That Can Help:
Go back to the drawing board. Really try to get at the root of why a scene or story isn't working
A part of growing as a writer is learning when to kill your darlings. Sometimes you're trying to force an idea or scene that just doesn't work and you need to let it go
If you don't have an outline, write one
If you have an outline and it isn't working, rewrite it, or look up different ways to structure it
You may be trying to write as a pantser when you're really a plotter or vice versa. Experiment with different writing processes and see what feels most natural
Study story structures, starting with the three act structure. Even if you don't use them, you should know them
Check out Ellen Brock on YouTube. She's a professional novel editor who has a lot of advice on writing strategies for different types of writers
Also check out Savage Books on YouTube (another professional story editor) for advice on story structure and dialogue. Seriously, I cannot recommend this guy enough
What it looks like:
Everything in boredom/understimulation
Everything in intimidation/procrastination
You have been diagnosed with and/or have symptoms of ADHD/Autism
Things that can help:
If you haven't already, seek a diagnosis or professional treatment
Hire an ADHD coach or other specialist that can help you work with your brain (I use Shimmer; feel free to DM me for a referral)
Seek out neurodiverse and neurodiverse writing communities for advice and support
Try body doubling! There's lot's of free online body doubling websites out there for you to try. If social anxiety is a barrier, start out with writing streams such as katecavanaughwrites on Twitch
Be aware of any sensory barriers that may be getting in the way of you writing (such as an uncomfortable desk chair, harsh lighting, bad sounds)
What it looks like:
You have symptoms of burnout or depression
Struggling with all things, not just writing
It's more than a lack of motivation- the spark is just dead
Things that can help:
Forget writing for now. Focus on healing first.
Seek professional help
If you feel like it, use writing as a way to explore your feelings. It can take the form of journaling, poetry, an abstract reflection of your thoughts, narrative essays, or exploring what you're feeling through your fictional characters. The last two helped me rediscover my love of writing after I thought years of depression had killed it for good. Just don't force yourself to do so, and stop if it takes you to a darker place instead of feeling cathartic
So I have an idea
Determination and Starvation Chapter 2 is still in the works, (writers block has me in a death grip right now) but Iâve been working on a Sans X Reader AU that I wanted to throw out there.
So Iâve been absorbed by several clangen blogs and before then I had the idea of a Warrior cats Aggre trio x Reader AU. The plot is still in the works, but the prologue is fully planned out.
My idea was that in the meantime of writing DaS Chapter 2, I could post this AU formatted like these Clangen blogs on a side account or this account. Would you guys like that, or would it end up ignored? Itâs going to be a big commitment, and I donât want to put time I could put into things I know you guys want unless I know you guys want this too.
idk if Tumblr will keep the boops going after today, but through the power of discord emoji, you can boop your friends in a server. or idk, paste them in someone's askbox.
