I've seen some talk floating around that Sanemi keeps his shirt open so he can easily cut himself, or so that the smell of his blood would be stronger when he gets slashed. No offense, but that's dumb, why would he want to cut his chest when his arms are right there? Like do you know how needlessly complicated and awkward it is to try to cut your chest? Especially with that big-ass katana?

I mean, that's where the scars on the forearms and hands are from, right? We even saw him slice an arm when he wanted to entice Nezuko with his blood in the first season. As for the strength of the blood, if Nezuko can get almost feral from just a little cut, then I'm sure that his blood is pretty strong.
