Actually I am curious now!
Personally I am sex repulsed ace but I love video game romances because I enjoy seeing what makes those little pixel fellas tick. Plus to me, it's just as much a part of the fantastical adventure story as all the bandit/goblin/demon murders committed by my character.
(Also sorry for not exploring the entire attraction spectrum, I ran out of poll options! Demi folks, consider yourselves part of the ace umbrella)
I love Liara to death but sometimes it does frustrate me how hard the games push you towards her. I'm not romancing Liara. I didn't romance her in ME1. Why does my Shepard have to have so much weird romantic tension with her when they're just friends?
With characters like Garrus and Tali you can see how Shepard has a brilliant friendship with them even if they are not romanced. But with Liara, Ashley and Kaiden it just feels like the games are forcing you to interact with them romantically. Which is sad, because it diminishes their characters as friends and squad mates as well as just romance options.
For those wondering what that looks like. It was made by a Syracuse University professor Sam Van Aken, who grafted several stone fruits together to create these trees. It takes approximately 8 years for the tree to grow and produce fruits for those with money to burn and buy one. (Corrections welcomed by anyone who wants to add more).
Me giving the highest compliment I can think of: "You're like the tree of 40 fruits!"
Carrying across a threshold or getting ready to chuck? Place your bets here, people!
What particularly frustrated me the first time I played was that Shepard can literally tell them that it wasn’t their choice, that Cerberus rebuilt them while they were in some sort of coma. But that line comes right before being accused of betraying the Alliance and them. So I ended up feeling like I had been talked over and ignored. It’s realistic but damn, it’s still frustrating every time it happens.
you know whats hilarious about the games and the fandom giving ashley and kaidan such a hard time about criticising shepard’s decision to work with cerberus. is that they end up being right. cerberus was lying to shepard. the illusive man hand-picked kelly, gabby, ken and joker in order to give the impression of a friendly cerberus. hell, kelly was feeding reports back to TIM on shepard’s mental state throughout the entire game behind their back. and then at the end of me2, when push comes to shove? it turns out that the whole time the illusive man’s motives were getting his hands on the technology in the collector base in order to support cerberus in its pro-human agenda. and even then its made quite clear throughout the game that he doesnt really give that much of a shit about the colonies, considering he used horizon as bait. so like. idk man
I don’t know if this means anything, but I’m glad you’re coming back. I really enjoyed reading your analysis and was looking forward to more.
I came back to check up on my account and whatnot, so I guess you could say I’m tentatively back. I might soon start visiting this account more often and typing up some bits on the meta posts I want to post.
I’ll probably make them non-rebloggable and turn off replies, and just accept asks. At least with asks, if there’s something inflammatory, I can just delete it and move on.
It might be a while, but I’ve got quite a few characters in the docket and I don’t want to just go away forever without trying to address them.
I refuse to believe they didn’t know what they were doing when they made The Ghoul. You mean to tell me a good man and father with a fondness for dogs and in love with his wife, over the course of centuries and nuclear war, turns into an irradiated cowboy bounty hunter with flexible morals, quippy one liners, and a reluctant fondness for an earnest and kind (but total badass) young woman with whom he shares an equivalent exchange before they end the season with the promise of two unlikely parties joined together on a road trip quest…and people DIDN’T expect tumblr to go feral?
already seeing "ugh male Rook with Neve in the trailer... that's a LESBIAN" posts on twitter and I'm beating them with a big stick that says "you can HEADCANON whatever you want about anything ever but your HEADCANON is factually incorrect and if it chaps your ass even a little bit when anyone up to and including the literal creators of the character disagrees with your HEADCANON then that's fully a you problem and you should consider developing coping skills about it rather than contributing to this fandom's legendary hostility by policing (even in a manner you'll claim was "joking" when someone stands up for themselvs) people who are only enjoying their own playthrough, headcanon, or ship" and by stick I do mean the block button
*Looks at Halsin*
*Imagines sorceress Tav recreating the Weave scene Gale taught her so she can share her thoughts to him*
*Imagines Halsin sharing his imagination of her with over 3 centuries worth of experience*
*Now imagines Tav too stunned to think and the spell breaks*
Do you think romanced companions use the tadpole to sext each other?
Like they’d be in their own tents across camp and suddenly you get a dirty message from your camp sweetheart. Or you’d be walking to wherever you’re going and get a message. And your companions would suddenly be asking if you’re ok because you’re blushing so badly.
