Was anybody going to tell me Neil and Andrew hold hands and sit in each other’s lap and get two cats and an apartment together and they tell each other “stay” and “welcome home”, that they join the same pro team bc they’re a “package deal”, that they don’t celebrate anniversaries bc why put a unit of time on something immeasurable, something that will last forever, and that they know they’re never going to leave each other, that they never CAN leave each other, and they communicate well which is ironic considering Neil used to lie to Andrew with every second breath and Andrew falls asleep every night facing Neil so when he wakes up from nightmares all he has to do is open his eyes to know everything is going to be ok or did I just have to find that out from the authors tumblr myself??

The fact that Neil CANONICALLY had someone explain their loving relationship to him and how their partner supported them and gave them strength when nothing else could and Neil went “huh like me and Andrew” then thought it was a weird comparison to make and decided to tuck it away to examine later?? And then he just forgot to?? He’s 100% the kid who realises he’s bi like, once a month.

so you know how in the championship game with the ravens, andrew proposed that neil play backliner to take over for matt who'd mildly injured his ankle? i know it's mainly for practical and logistic reasons but you cannot convince me it isn't some sort of symbolism too.

all year long andrew had been staunchly refusing to accept anyone's protection of him, adamant that he doesn't want nor need it. he was particularly unappreciative when neil had tried twice to protect or spare andrew from harm to the point that neil sacrificed himself and got hurt in the process.

but then in the last portion of the championship game, andrew volunteered the idea of taking neil away from his role as offense/attacker and replace it with defense/protector instead, to keep the opposing striker's attempt at goals away from andrew at neil's back. and that? that is andrew asking for and accepting neil's help and protection!!

you know what that is? growth
