ⓘ This user wants someone who tells them things like “if you’re the villain in someone else’s love story, then I’m the devil” and “if you’re the ‘wrong kind of woman,’ then I’m the wrong kind of man.” Someone who would pick them every time if they had to choose one person to be in their corner coz they believe this user takes care of shit. Just someone who can read them like a book.

jess mariano and rory gilmore are literally the SAME people at their core, just in opposite fonts. they MIRROR each other and are each other's TWIN FLAMES. that's exactly why they understand each other better than everyone else (asp herself said so). both are raised by teen moms and have deadbeat dads. yet, one is nurtured with love and care with a mom like lorelai. and the other is abandoned & ignored by a flaky mom like liz. both develop an immense love for reading regardless of whether it became kind of a coping mechanism. both exceed normal expectations of intelligence required for their age. hence, one goes above and beyond, strives for perfection with it, and craves validation while the other could not care less what people think and says "fuck it. rules don't matter anymore for me. i know stuff". one becomes stars hollow's princess, held onto a pedestal by everyone around her. the other becomes stars hollow's pariah, hated by every person he meets. both are under intense scrutiny by people where one is held to exceptionally high standards and the other is seen as "good for nothing". both of them break out of those respective moulds as soon as they become young adults. and both play a pivotal role in helping each other break out of those moulds and still be true to their inner selfs. I COULD WRITE AN ENTIRE TEN-PAGE ESSAY ON THE PARALLELS BETWEEN THEM....I REALLY COULD!

poems about Laika (the soviet space dog)

i’ve been hunting for one in specific, and during my quest, i have seen that very many beautiful poems about this creature have been written. I wanted to compile them.

“first dog in space” by brennig davies / “They say that, from space, the Earth looks like a small, blue ball. I’ll throw it for you, Laika, if you’ll chase it, dart through the stratosphere like a comet, undeserving of its fate.”

“laika” by claire williamson / “for three hours she was weightless, pulse racing, but ate her dinner, alive to see an orbital sunrise.”

“laika” by adnana zeljkovic / “Paddling with her soft paws in inimical vacuum, (nothing to draw you to your bosom like Mother Earth’s gravitation) herself soft snowflake,”

“laika” by paul gerard reed / “The stars that shone have all gone out as man betrayed your trust, but your spirit is still in place somewhere, out there in space.”

“laika” by dave lewis / “But when you gave me that final kiss on the nose I suppose deep down inside I knew my destiny lay among the stars. Alone, in silence, I watched the world spinning round, one thousand miles below.“

“i remember laika” by jan oskar hansen / “The farewell can’t be delayed a boy has run to the outer field sits on a stone tries not to cry the struggle to accept the unavoidable.”

“muttnik” by tumblr user @fateology / “I don’t mind. I just miss you. I miss you like the space that lies between two breaths. Full to burning.”

“for the first dog in space” by lavinia greenlaw / “Laika, do not let yourself be fooled by the absolute stillness that comes only with not knowing how fast you are going. As you fall in orbit around the earth, remember your language. Listen to star dust. Trust your fear.”

“laika” by sarah doyle / “Brave little cosmonaut, caught and collared, Earth no more than a distant ball with which you cannot play.”

“laika” by adrian sobol / “If there is light, it’s pressing down on you. Something stirs inside it.”

“first the dog” by zbigniew herbert / “awkwardly we bump into stars / we see nothing we hear nothing / we beat with our fists on the dark ether / on all the wavelengths is a whining”

you are welcome to add more poems to this post if you have any in mind to recommend.

the hunger games films tore out the books teeth. like it does the series such a disservice when it stands for nothing, says nothing, passes no judgement.. katniss speaks so plainly in the books about what she thinks of the capital. of what they do to her and her family and the districts. of the different worlds she witnesses as she’s straddled between 12 and the capital.. she calls it barbaric. she calls it disgusting and wrong and horrifying, over and over, and the films were like how do we market this teen romance.

chloe gong really just said “enemies to lovers is about looking someone in the eye and knowing all the darkest parts of them and knowing they know all the darkest parts of you and having a mutual respect and admiration for the other but being too unwilling to admit it and walking away because you love them too much to hurt them but not enough to give up your world for them and hoping that they find someone they deserve in the end” and expected me to walk away okay

Why are shoes such a big issue for Indian dance?

I AM GLAD YOU ASKED - and this is what I’ve been taught.

We wear bells on our ankles and they’re our instruments. You wouldn’t put your shoes on a piano or a harp or a saxophone. It’s just something you respect and want to keep clean.

Also, Indians, along with other cultures, take their shoes off to pray. You don’t want to bring extra impurities into a place of worship like a temple or deraser. Taking off shoes is a sign of respect.

When we dance, we dance barefoot to show respect for the Earth. She allows us space to slap our feet and move, so we remove our shoes because she has provided a holy space for us.

This is what I’ve learned in my 13 years of Kathak. Also wearing bells with shoes just feels wrong - maybe that’s an innate cultural thing.
