i love this line because it's actually really important!! i see americans (rightfully) upset about things looking like they're crumbling - and yeah! it will be hard! and i wish people could just set aside their difference so it wouldn't be!

but even if not united, a country is filled with people. and there are people who, even if fighting against big things, will be brave, kind, and hopeful - and that's beautiful :]

really fucking pissed about police brutality in my community against a student driven palestine protest, so here's a poem to show for that

Tear gas strewn across faces

A flag flying despite it all

Wickedness at the head of an establishment

About to fall.

These people starve, they fight and wail, we hear and we listen, 

All of us listen, except those who truly matter. 

How much more blood. must be shed, before you finally quit your palaces of gold

And stand before the pile of corpses building outside your squeaky clean window?

How many more kids must be rendered hopeless and afraid

Of a future you are, again and again, willing to steal?

Hauling your oil around, until the ashes of this earth finally reach your shined shoes.

How many more voices must be silenced, and awoken yet again

How. Many. More. Cycles must we traverse?

How many more dictators, and revolutions, 

How many more years, until our own burning earth, will finally eat up your hate, 

And our hope?

When you stand, finally, watching your mansions of ignorance burn to the ground

Will you think of those kids? 

Will you think of a teen flattened to the ground, 

For daring to hope?

Will you think of the sight of a dying sunset, off the shores of a decimated nation, 

Awaiting the promise of night, now non differentiable from the promise of flames,

And bodies under rubble, 

Homes rendered to dust

A beautiful country now just beautiful people.

Will your tears run red, as you mourn the loss of your home, and will you understand, how hunger feels, 

When we haul you back to prison

Where you’ll rot, 

With no cash in your hands.
