Morning!
I was thinking what if Geten and Mizunami are siblings and we get a golden child and scapegoat dynamic...except later Geten IS jealous of the life Muzi has. Deep down, he resents how, even through he has the strongest quirk, is always alone...while Mizu has friends, a gf/bf and IS happy.
Hell let's add Dabi in the mix too.
Can we say he is a scapegoat in the todo fam?
Morning!
They were cousing in my headcanon but... siblings certainly sounds good as well, even better maybe.
And it's funny how the anime made them look more alike in terms of colours:
Who should be the older sibling though?
Cause as far I know Geten is supposed to be young, I read he's even referred as "shonen" somewhere which means he must be 19 at max. And Cider/Mizunami is like 18 in my head.
Not like who is the oldest matter for the story, just a detail.
I certainly love the idea of Geten having a hard slap of reality when he realizes how empty his whole life is compared to his "failure of a brother". As for the Himura clan Geten is nothing more than an expensive breed of puppy they can sell to keep their bank acount full, and for Re-Destro he's only a very well trained attack dog, another piece in an ideology he sacrificed his whole childhood and teenge years for getting nothing in exchange.
Geten really had nothing and no one in the MLA is really his friend. While his brother got almost everything he lacks.
And that's probably why Geten would connect with his cousing (and future lover) Dabi very well:
I just love the idea of two losers deep resented with their brothers getting along and found something close to peace on each other.
Dabi and Geten share a lot of parallels even in canon, and the opposite element power couple is a trope I love (on top of being a direct reflection of Enji and Rei). Not to mention incest is canon for the Himuras, so Dabi and Geten would keep the tradition alive.
Call me crazy, but considering how manipulative Dabi showed he can be I wouldn't discard his whole Stain fanboy persona is just a performance.
I mean put that scene of him saying "I'll fulfill Stain will" in context: in that moment the recruits actually believed Stain was actively working with Shigaraki and the LOV was a group that would follow the ideals of Chizome.
That obviously wasn't the case, but Dabi probably make up the story just for fit in the organization and later after seeing not even Spinner (the biggest Stain fanboy) give a crap about the ideals of the hero killer, Dabi just dropped the act completely and acted more like himself.
Which isn't very different from his usual self. Let's be real when he actually put in practice any of Stain actual ideals or there was some sort of callback between both characters?
I think it's actually Fanon Dabi the version that always exaggerate his supposed Stain fanboy persona, generally in an attempt to make him more sympathetic and an antihero of sorts. Coincidentally most of this fanon material cames from the era when we didn't have much context of him and people still believed for some reason that Dabi could have been trying to help his family (for some reason).
Ah btw Dabi in the manga is still comically skinny and not really that different from his debut and many times he looks like he float inside his own clothes, but the anime for some reason makes him look super ripped despite it doesn't make any sense for his character.
I much prefer Dabi's body in the manga btw, not every guy needs to have a super bulky physique to be attactive.
Hi, I did a big mulling (lol) on the whole moral aspect of Dabi and his killings. Especially considering my own au.
Look let's not kid ourselves here. It would be impossible for Besties au or canon for dabi to be "pure" aka never kill anyone. Boy was on the streets after waking up from a coma in a creepy hospital.
"a good Samaritan in the villain side took him in" ok maybe but even this good Samaritan would still be a villain and Dabi wouldn't be save of killing. Even if is self defense.
The discourse I mentioned in my channel on....ironically called Discord was about how dabi killing bad peoples works better than killing innocent people. I get the fallacy of this logic. I get the appeal.
We see characters like Punisher and we root for him bc "he is killing bad people" which makes him good in comparison. I used to like that, who didn't? But consider this idea: One villain killed the anti-hero's wife. One, and the anti hero responds by going on a rampage.
"he is angry she is dead, it's grief" he still kills a lot of people and shows no remorse.
(nothing against Anti heroes characters per se. I do love Jason Todd even if I agree how DC mistreated him, I like Bucky. I can't like Punisher through)
The thing here is if Dabi only killed bad people how we would know if the people he killed were bad to warrant the death penalty?
"dabi only killed rapist and pedos" ok. How he would know if a person committed those crimes? Waiting for the person to shout to the world all the horrible things he did on this fine Tuesday?
(this all is making me think of a case of lynching in my country, a person was accused of committed a crime, a group of the small city wanted justice and ....went to make on their own hands....turns out the person was Innocent. They killed an innocent person)
Besides killing is killing. Even if Dabi has concrete proof the people he killed are EVIL. He still took a life, he is still unaffected about it (not saying if dabi kills a rapist he should weep, but you can't exactly be so blase about it)
(I even think if Dabi goes around killing only bad people, in this case, villains....wouldn't that make others villains wry of LoV for keeping dabi? If we have a hero killer. What if we have a villain killer?)
My point on this long ass thread is how in besties au dabi has killed, ofc he did, even if is for survival...and that sticks with him. He doesn't like killing. It weights on him.
"and Endy?" Yes. He wants to kill Dabi. He wants to destroy Endy and in besties he is doing a good job. He is proactive (unlike Mr. Possum)
But the killing weights on him.
Smth I don't think it does on the heroes who kill in canon. They are sure the villains they kill are evil (I mean, I get why) and no need to think twice, right hawks?
But it's odd seeing villain stans defending dabi killing any villain without remorse and try to justify "they are evil"
Well.....
If that was the case...all the LoV deserved their fates as they are terrorists who killed lots of people, wage a war and more.
Hi @mikeellee 👋
Agreed! There is no way within Canon that dabi has never killed anyone at all. Actually, we only see dabi physically kill people after he joins the league of villains, whether that be with failed lov recruits or heroes dabi has killed.
However, in chapter 290, dabi states that he has cannonically killed over 30 innocent people. Now, I have talked about this in the @sapphic-agent post, but the framing of that panel seems to be there to humanise enji while dehumanising dabi.
How does dabi know these people are innocent?
Why did he mention the fact that they were innocent? Why didn't he just say he killed thirty people?
All of this makes me think that dabi thinks that he accidentally killed the people in the hospital.
Ultimately, dabi would have realistically had to kill in self-defense. Imagine a young teenage boy obviously covered in major scaring, roaming the streets for scraps or anything to survive. That would be an easy target for people to use, rob, or do whatever they think of doing to him. Dabi would have had to quickly learn self-defense and how to survive on the street, and it shows that he did learn by his appearance.
The first time we see dabi in chapter 68, we see just how scrawny and skinny he is. He ends up gaining weight and muscle after joining the league, yet his first appearance definitely depicts him as malnourished and the increased burn scars definitely mean that he has been using his quirks ever since he was on the street for various reasons.
Dabi killing bad people or who he views as a bad person makes sense and is actually very in character for him. A dominant characteristic of dabi that fanon seems to undermine is that he is a huge Stain fanboy/follower. His first introduction, he announces that he plans to make the hero killers will a reality.
However, we do fall into the problem of dabi pushing his own moral views (which let's be real dabi has some very concerning views) that would be a problem. Or how does he know that this specific individual he is killing is a bad person? There's so much this is the same character who was shown to have some very misogynistic and victim blaming views, so that would be a rocky hill for him to go down on.
All of this could definitely be a great idea to explore and could easily dive deep into dabi's mentality and how that might change over the course of the series.
It is absolutely a great idea to make dabi killing weigh on him whether they're innocent or evil. Those are still people. They are still lives, they breathe, weep, form complex thoughts, bleed red etc they are people, they could be dabi and his body or the body of his loved ones could be next.
While Canon doesn't truly focus on it, it does highlight the fact that dabi does feel regret to a certain extent. Dabi is upset, and he knows, realises, and accepts that he is a bad person. It is exactly why he believes that he belongs in gell with his father. It is why all of his conversations with enji mention BOTH of them suffering and being in hell together for their sins.
There is an anime only scene with a hero cornering dabi asking him if he regrets killing and dabi doesn't respond directly, but we are shown a scene of a bloody tear falling from his face.
There is also a manga page where dabi remembers snatch and directly says that killing him drove him crazy thinking about it with a tear coming from his eye.
Ironic how Horikoshi seems to love body horror so much, as he tries to add it in any opportunity he has, but he fails on a very basic level of any kind of horror: believable reactions among the other characters.
Like any amateur writer that wants to create some kind of horror atmosphere already knows that as readers our mind really connect with the reaction of the characters in the story, more than just having a reaction to the gruesome images.
If the characters themselves don't care about the frankenstein esque bioweapons made out of people why should I care?
They act like if is totally normal seeing teenages or even kids turned into that.
This scene lives rent free in my head 🫣
Also I wonder why Nine is nude inside that tank but Shigaraki was using a swimsuit in the same situation:
Ujiko is such a naughty bastard lol.
Considering Jin genetics were dominant over Kaori Kenjaku in terms of hair (and everything else for the matter) is easy to assume Yuuji would be no different if he has childs.
Perhaps a child of Yuuji could have a different shade of pink, something much more pale (in reference to how usually Gege makes his hair look blonde in his covers).
Hair aside, the child definitely would have Junpei eyes and lashes.
What do you think about a child between Yuji and Junpei?
What color would his hair be,?
pink or brown?
i need your answers!
I like to think of Cider being something like that... a sheep on a wolf costume.
Cause if you pay attention to how he acts during his two appearances, is interesting that despite being a villain Cider never harms civilians and he only wants to steal money but unlike other criminals he never tried to kill or harm unless they attack him first. He seems like a decent guy deep inside.
I actually write some snipets of Cider x Deku for another blog.
Super rare pair I know, but hear me out, I love the idea of Midoriya having being friends and later having a romantic relationship with a small criminal that isn't a total lose cause. Cider fits that description and they would look very good together.
One of the small drabbles I made was about Cider protecting Midoriya from Bakugou when they were in middle school. Cider beated the shit out of Bakugou and recovered Izuku's notebook to give it back to him, and since then he waits Izu after he finish the school day just to watch for him he goes home (Cider is in love but a bit clueless about his own feelings).
Also the idea of Midoriya having a fire quirk and got with a water user like Cider makes the ship even better. I'm weak for elemental pairs.
You can't imagine how much I love the Cider House leader guy...
A minor villain has no right to look so cool, badass and handsome like he does.
Also he probably got the best water quirk of the series.
Also he got so much sassy energy on top of having such insane drip.
Being one of his like 3 fans isn't easy, but still love him.
I will never stop saying that the LOV members are nothing more than a bunch of beginners villains artificially inflated to stay as permanent main villains.
The most frustrating part about this is how the only way Horikoshi could make this work is at expense of better villains with way more potential from the get go.
Stain, Overhaul, Nine, the MLA, all these villains with better concepts are sacrificed as lambs to make the LOV "develop" into better villains, which is totally false because they only get away from countless impossible situations thanks to an absurd degree of plot armor. Or how the fuck Toga being a teen with a knife can represent a problem to freaking Deku of all persons?
Another example of how Horikoshi struggled to keep every active lov member relevant is how Spinner in the final arc get this forced af rivalry with Shoji about the mutant subplot, an idea that always was barely developed in the series and suddlenly becames a big deal despite Spinner never give a fuck about other mutants, and neither Shoji did.
Ironic how Horikoshi stated that his favorite Jujutsu Kaisen villain is Mahito, for obvious reasons as he's basically Shigaraki 2.0. EXCEPT by the fact Gege understood that keep Mahito in the story more than necessary would have been a slog and he killed him in a very satisfying way.
Horikoshi could've taken notes and learn that the LOV members shouldn't have made into the final battle and their arcs would be better ended much sooner, while the other villains with more potential should stay longer.
Imo the League of Villains should have never existed from the main story of MHA. They were utterly unbalanced and were so flawed that no attempt of fixing could fix them.
I get where your coming from. I
I honestly believe the LOV really needed was time to grow away from the spotlight.
Think of the LOV as leftover pizza (I know, just stick with me for a minute)
Too long in the microwave/oven/pan and it tastes like hardback, too little and it becomes soggy muddled. There's a very specific way you need to do things and that's by not overthinking it.
Hori kept the microwave on too long and the LOV's potential evaporated.
From what I can tell, MHA worked best when it had a 'Villain of the week's type of thing going on.
This was most prominent and best set up with Stain, Stain's character/arc not only expanded the world of MHA but also brought up deeper questions about Hero society
What's most important here is that Stain didn't overstay his welcome. He rolled in, made every panel count and then went out like a champ. Affecting the protagonist and those around him.
He had an impact that's felt throughout the rest of the series (There is no Internship Arc in Ba Sing Se) not inspite of his short lived presence but because of it.
At some point, Hori lost this concept and the plot went with it.
I think the main problem with the LOV started after Kamino. Before this, every member has solid, or at least tangible ideals.
The Vanguard Action Squad was the LOV at it's most raw, not perfect but functional. They felt like people, when Magne stops Spinner from pursuing Midoriya, it feels real for the world.
Simply put the LOV (much like 1A) worked best as individuals, differing worldviews and all.
So when Hori robbed the LOV of their autonomy by practically wrangling them to Shigaraki, it in turn killed the LOV, because now nothing was individual about them.
If you want an example, how about Magne's death. Her last words are the very last time anyone in the LOV asserts any belief besides Shigaraki's own.
After this the LOV barely give any resistance to Shigaraki's plans no matter how short sighted or convoluted.
Kurogiri is outright sacrificed by the narrative so that Shigaraki finally has to step up.
Shigaraki's reaction to Toga's rage and grief follwing Magne's death can be amounted to: "Trust me bro, we're doing this for us bro, please believe me bro."
It's absurd.
As for being flawed, I'll assume you mean their motives.
What needs to be understood is that the LOV (Pre Kamino) and the PLF (Post Kamino) are not the same characters
Flanderisation is the phenomenon of a characters worst traits being exacerbated over a period of time until said character is unrecognizable from their original self.
This is what Hori did the LOV and he did this intentionally.
At some point he realized that the Villains actually had more of a point than the heroes, this likely occured after the MVA arc when fans began rooting for the LOV.
To counter this Hori sabotaged multiple characters and plots in a desperate attempt to justify his woolies and unfortunately for everyone who's isn't an abuser-stan (Enji and Bakuo). The rest of the cast and world suffered greatly.
What you ended up with are characters so detached from their origins that they might as well not even be the same characters at all.
There's an image somewhere that encapsulates this perfectly, it's a 4 panel comic with two stick figures (one black and one blue). If I ever find it or someone links it I'll be sure to upload it here
As a marketing strategy I get why Aldera would do all the moves to get Bakugou at U.A, since one can imagine for them having as future reference "Pro Hero Bakugou Katsuki graduated from our prestigious school". Is more of a greedy spin rather than just them having a racist (quirkist?) agenda, which I find more believable.
Good for Izu to get justice. They should also close the school and use the building to open a center that helps the victims of bullying and other more real social issues.
...
Oh you're adding the creep factor into the mix?
Hear me out: what about Aizawa being in this too?
Because you know, his preferential trait for Shinso over other students could easily be twisted into something really sick if you want. As you probably know Shinzawa is a really popular ship for both characters.
What if Aizawa was having sexual encounters with Shinso? But of course that totally didn't have anything to do with the mysterious "ascension" of Shinso into the hero course (and expulsion of some random folk for allow that place being free) despite his notorious low performance and he already being put in general studies.
I imagine Izu using his resources of hacking and contacts (would be fun if she hires Mineta to spy on Aizawa using his talents) to get her a lot of tapes that incriminate Aizawa as a pedo. Since yes, Shota obviously would be dumb enough to record himself having sex with Shinso.
Hell you can even add Bakugou into that creep act, as BakuZawa is also very popular. Imagine this fun yet twisted scenario were Shinso turns against Aizawa because he thought he was the only "special boy" of Shota.
Yet I imagine Shota wouldn't be charged for the worst part of this. For his ex students becoming villains he will face justice and Nezu probably would try to use his influence to get him free of charges, but in private Izu threats Aizawa to expose his sexual tapes to the press if he doesn't declare himself responsible and also reveals a lot of shit that happens in U.A under that fachade of perfection.
Aizawa totally defeated accepts and he goes a time to jail, but pretty tame compared to what he actually deserves. Obviously his heroic and teacher career are ruined for life anyway, and Nezu would use his influence for ensure Shota never goes behind a desk again just as a revenge for expuse the true face of the U.A
You decide if that's enough punishment for him.
...
I wouldn't discard Mirio getting totally brainwashed into what Nighteye expects from him, so his weirdo acts don't bother him at all and he probably would defend his master.
...
Cider quirks having the unintended side effect of getting everyone with a wet shirt is a happy mistake lol.
I guess at first their atraction would be purely physical, that's normal, but when they start to meet each other they discovered all the things they actually like from the other.
On the seltzer bunny 🐰 fic I finally have an outline for the first chapter. And yes, Cinder does make an appearance. Ok my idea is basically Izumi makes Aldera her first target.
It doesn't make a big target if you see with western eyes but in Japan, teachers are respected so...Izumi showing how aldera is corrupt is a big deal, many eyes are on her and aldera.
Izumi's crimes:
Breaking in
Invasion of propriety
Identity thief
Hacking
But she exposes Aldera as it is. She ruins their lives as they ruined hers and the others. No Redestro is used nor they are anti QUIRKLESS...here they are willing to sacrifice everyone for BK (and BK is ranking bellow Mineta) and didn't spare a second (hm, this au is set UA is a colleague and they DO use the image of the students to create polls and whatnot.
You read that right ...Bk ranks bellow Mineta.
The first thing in this chapter is how Izumi is walking among the rain. She is wet and I do like this small nudge to the talks we had about what would tease Cinder...Izumi will say the phrase "I'm wet" a lot.
As for Cinder...he hears about the Usagi(means bunny) and is curious...he is not sure if she is real or if the Aldera's staff is making things up. Their crimes do make others educators frown at them...their careers are over and so is Aldera. A new school will born.
Cinder is not a fan of corrupt schools and finds aldera really stupid but if this bunny is real...that's interesting.
Cinder: if we are to meet, we will.
(I love put those lil moments here and there. Hints to the couple. Again, she says "I'm wet a lot" and is not an innuendo until it is)
Izumi is planning her next move. Nighteye. Everyone is motivated by revenge in the team. I label them "team found family revenge" lol
Congrats for the progress with your story! I want to read it as soon you publish the chapters, so let me know when that happens.
I'm aware of how Japan culturally holds a lot more respect and give importance to education than the west. Ngl I kinda admire them for that, for story porpuse I get what you try to make.
And since you're ruining the lifes of bad teachers do you have some plans for Aizawa next? I think you didn't like him that much either.
Lol isn't weird at all that Mineta should classify better than BK, as after all besides the stalker stuff and such Mineta is capable of having human decency and interact with other people normally. He also smarter according to canon and his worst tendencies became pretty tame later on.
The "I'm wet" is going to take a new meaning later lol. But I'm here for the slowburn so this sounds interesting.
So you dislike Nighteye? Yeah he's not a very likeable character tbh.
You should add Six as the middle child!
Nine is the big bro who keeps the house in order, Six is the chaotic and charismatic middle child, Tenko is the little brat.
I'm going to leave here some old drawings of nine + afo because yes
( is this some kind of headcanon? I think so! and it's the delusional headcanon type😓)
Shippy thing for the couple.
Cinder teaching Izu how to swim/surf. Like, in canon Izu never was in a beach (sigh we do have a light novel where the main joke is "Izu is almost eat by an orc bc he thought it was the hero orc" hate it) well, here Izumi has a beach day.
A few details.
Aside the scars on her arms. Izuchan has big boobs.
No, this isn't ecchi. There a narrative reason for that.
Heroines with big boobs are more profitable bc you can explore the sex appeal, see Momo. But what you think happens with villainess that are well endowed?
They are seductress, sluts who will steal your man.
Izumi never even kisses someone ...she is getting comfortable with a lot before considering kisses. Which it's funnier bc the media paints her as this slut when she is not. Before meeting cinder she was on the path on finally seeing her scars as smth other than painful. (Not to attribute this to one guy)
So...in a beach day, Izumi in her bikini is a character development visually.
Cinder is allowed to admire...she is a pretty girl.
He uses his quirk and teaches her how to surf.
They just having fun.
Oh I was totally into making a good beach day for them. It's the quintessential form of fanservice after all.
The orca thing was actually canon? I always thought it cames from that "smash" comic that was explicitly non canon and self parody.
Anyways, while I'm not super into big boobs for woman to be considered attractive, is a fact that if Midoriya was a woman she would have the same atributes as Inko who certainly has very generous proportions.
And Cider surely likes that, and oh boy he sure isn't shy to express how much he likes the body of his girl (scars included of course).
And do you think Izumi is into guy with big pecs? Because Cider got some nice ones and he loves use tank tops just to make them look better.
Them having a good day in the water is all what they deserve after dealing with a lot of shit. And Izumi is a quick learner so by the end of the day she would be surfing like a professional, impressing Cider.
I like to think they would end the day looking at the sunset sitting together on the warm sand, Izumi resting her head on Mizunami shoulder and he has an arm wrapped around her waist. They got a kissing sessions of course, what a way to end a good day.
But Midoriya shoes are cool and iconic, there's a difference...
It is weird to say I prefer Shigaraki barefoot? My peculiar taste again I know.
Glad to get someone into Cider. Let's hope more people join us.
Can't stop thinking about a CiderDeku focused AU in which our favorite seltzer boy and Midoriya work as part time vigilantes together.
And since Izuku has a fire bending quirk in this AU, the contrast of his quirk and Cider's (who is named Mizunami Himura in this story) make people start calling them "Steam-Bow couple" as their unofficial vigilantes name.
Still thinking about the details of how they started their crusade together as vigilantes, but I like that idea I mention in other post about Mizunami saving Izuku from Bakugou when both of them still were in Aldera and Midoriya was around 13. Mizunami still was the leader of the Cider House gang (and maybe two years older than Midoriya) but later he left the group because he felt his members started to be way too problematic and getting in worse situations with civilians and heroes, something he didn't like because while Mizunami commited crimes like robbery he never tried to harm innocent people during his operations.
Besides he started feeling for Izuku after protect him from Bakugou, and since Izu wanted to stay with him after the incident they both start to get along and quickly became good friends, Mizu also helping Izu no being so shy and insecure about himself due the years of bullying.
He start helping Izuku to train his quirk and body during his free time, which served a lot for Midoriya to get in good shape and develop a fight style for the years to come as he still intented to apply to at least a low-middle tier hero school (and this will became important later).
I like to think the incident with the Sludge monster from chapter 1 was what caused a twist on their relationship, as unlike what happens in canon here when both of them are attacked by the Slime that escaped from A.M, Izuku and Mizunami give the monster a big surprise because they were able to fight back.
Slime turned to be quite vulnerable to water and fire combined, which allowed Izu and Mizu to restrain him in a bottle of soda and left him for the heroes finish the job later, as they run totally excited by the experience.
After escape and being safe, Izuku suddenly jump to the arms of Mizunami and they started kissing out of the excitement of the moment. When they calm down both smiled and since that moment they became officially boyfriends, and decide they would have more moments like this in the future so they will start fight criminals together.
Also the incident also give Izuku the final confidence boost he always needed and when Bakugou provoked him after school trying to make fun of Mizunami who was there for walk along Izuku to his home, Midoriya decided he had enough when Katsuki insulted his boyfriend.
So what happened next is that Izuku deep breath and expelled a big green fire ball from his mouth, which resulted in Bakugou getting a lot of first degree burns and loosing his eyebrows (something for what he would be mocked a lot later).
Mizunami used his water quirk to extinguish the fire over Bakugo's clothes who is totally terrified, then Mizu and Izuku laugh at him take a picture with their funs for future reference and run away together.
Hi @nyc3
CinderIzu is great and Cinder as a character was ignored, slept on ...bc villain stans are predictable into hot villains like dabi and shig(yes, shig is hot even in his possum way) and ...damn this fandom waste a good opportunity for a ship.
For a moment, thought you were talking about my idea.
I do like the idea Izumi being considered so beautiful even with her scars (she is prettier bc of her scars bc this woman survived) so in a country where the woman's value depends on her beauty...Izumi carrying her scars and being hot is amazing. Cinder would be into!
Cinder would also be into kill bk!
Her entire story, as she describes what BK did, seems like SA. See? The difference of boy and girl here is how people perceive the violence.
But I'm into this ship.
I do like sgdk a lot.
I do like dabideku too
But CinderIzu??? I'm open and so far like the ideas.
MHA fans shouldn't ignore how beautiful Nine is.
Have you seen how gorgeous this man looks?
He should be bring into conversations about the most pretty male character more often.
Especially when Horikoshi draws him.
I don't think this need more explanation, Nine is something else.
