Its crazy how multiple people have confirmed that jongins been in arrested development his whole life and people think he is mature. He is physically developed but his maturity is stuck at like age 8 when his father pushed him to become something in the ent sector. So many people never talk about how stressful his life must have been he was in school full time plus over 5 activities. He said over the years he did art, calligraphy, he tried taekwondo but he sucked, jazz, tap dancing, and ballet and was an sm terminal for years before even auditioning again and becoming a trainee. On top of they wanted him to be a child model. He would of had issues even if he wasnt in s.m but sm is another reason why he wasnt able to develop. All the staff became substitite parents and babied him. He just stopped being a kid which is why he is the way he is. His office is full of child's toys and he constantly refrences cartoons. He literally is mentally stuck at that age and even kids find him immature. Which explains why he doesnt say anything when kids tease him and never demands they respect him because they think he and them are on the same level. Ricky kim even basically said this when asked why Kai was so good with kids. I also noticed he never demands younger people respect him or use honorifics. He doesnt even understand the concept or at least he doesnt think it even applies to him. Hence why he argued with Taemin in middle school about the honorifics thing and didnt think it was important. Honestly its not a sweet thing but a real psychological hangup he has that he requires others to take care of him at all times, whether on variety, in a band or in his friendgroup. During the variety they did im 2022 I think his different mindset is so apparent now that he can actually talk more. He doesn't get jealous in relationships allegedly cause 8 year olds don't really care that complexly about relationships. Physical boundaries mean nothing to him so thats why he is okay with a partner feeding or zipping up someones jacket. Him talking to a psych major is so funny cause i know he is already aware of all of this cause he reads psychology books. SO he's aware but that doesnt change his issues. You cannot fix this problem unless you go back in time and become a kid again. Which is something he's constantly trying to do. Lmao that why the other member said he thinks he's gen z it was an inside joke because he really does think he is younger than he is. It happens to lots of people. Which also explains why he was begging to be a few years younger a few years ago and didnt want to talk about being 30. They will be married with kids but they are still psychologically stuck at a certain age. A lot of people say he acts like he's five but I will go with 8 because thats when he began doing all those activities. Too much stress on tiny very young person like it was gonna happen regardless. His stage persona is a mask yes, but its more than that. That is the person he created to be what the top superstars during his youth were.
even sehun wants to take care of jonginnie ♡ [trans]
I try to explain that its racist and dehumanizing to do this to people but no, they like it too much. The history of western media demasculizing asian men, asian men working hard to stop that myth and the western women doing it but they think its okay. Nobody is your baby, go have a child if you want to infantilize someone that badly. They are grown people, its rude but particularly so if you are not korean or even asian.
I need to have a whole essay, book lecture on the jedi mind manipulation that the asian media has gone through hell and high water to push on unsuspecting people who really don't even know the evils that they unknowingly be supporting. Mind you understandably exo was promoting a skin whitening company before kji went to the military, free will is a thing that's fine, and understably they have an image to promote. But I've never seen the other members this skin whitened while in the military, they all tanned and had unedited photos posted of at least light tans. Almost all the members who posted army photos before or after training had tans, I'm genuinely trying to understand them having the naturally darkest member edited to where his skin looks lighter then theirs did. I truly don't understand that, it seems comical yet also very strange. There were times even while injured, barely going outside that his skin is darker. Almost every public sighting he's had he appears to have like no melanin in his skin. I always think before I speak it's typical for me to hold in my words for months until I'm very sure of what talking about. To me s.m would know better than anyone else jongin's natural skin tone. Early in his career he never hid it and talked about it quite often, then somewhere along the way unless he was in america or europe his skin was ghostly pale a majority of the time. Logically speaking one would think that he tends to do what is required of him when asked by his employer. Understand that as well. Then there's the multiple layering that s.m I assume started placing over his photos so that it would be impossible to "darkwash" a laughable term coined by people upset at the attempt of fans to figure out the true skin color of kpop people. Now it is considered even more villainous to "darkwash" than to whitewash. Mind you this child was underage most likely skin whitening, putting poisonous chemicals on his face to appear lighter and caking makeup on all to fit into the s.m standards. But this is seen as normal and okay for both boys and girls. None of this is natural and can cause severe damage to the skin. Since it's 2024 and the average fan or even passerbyer will know little to none of this information, nor any cultural social background of what's going on in the kpop industry and why it is in fact not okay. But normalization and jokes make everything seem okay. The amount of fans I know of that genuinely, truly believe jongin is light bright tan and that's the darkest he can get and anything else is just bad lighting is sad. I know deep down they feel and say this because this is what they want to be true. The effort they put into the facade for him to me is too much to just be a coincidence, usually in the army kdolls are on their own but s.m hasn't stopped controlling his image, whether it's "random sightings", "public events" or things he posts himself they are intent on heavily lightening and editing his photos in a way I've never seen done before for someone on a break. They still have his collar on pretty tight.
230524 Kai Military Training Camp Update
and san and kai are friends now...like genuine friends ahhh like journaling is everything I remember years ago when I just got back into kpop and I found out about san everyone was hating on him cause they said he was copying kai but he's like so sweet and him and kai have soo much in common and they look alike and I was like aww they'd love each other and now they real deal friends
like matrix?
but also
I'm so tired of reading this.
I never see anybody ever mention taemin in relation to kai except for taemin fans.
I feel like people pull stuff outta thin air anyway so
you know what I'll just fight fire with fire
I'll make a new ship
kji x solar eclipse
so tmints can finally move on with their lives
I promise they gonna interact just as much as taekai did-- two to five times a year.
The way Kai stans hate Taemin is so funny. That's your man's pookie....
I'm patiently waiting for the day sean lew does his big one and finally choreographs for sm and saves the company from mediocrity cause southern hip hop does not go like how they've been doing it or teaching it.
Back in the day they used to have a good medium of american choreographers to assist the trainee's and idols and clean up their faults now it's like they don't' have that and it's soo evident.
I don't care the minute they got rid of that bald british or american dude they companies dancing went down hill. It became a weird oligarchy. Like I noticed kai's main teacher started recommending people he trained and they eventually ended up replacing most of the western choreographers. They brought in bailey sok
for peaches, the asian american southern swag hip hop extraordinaire that she is and it was way better than Mmmh.
It actually had so many different elements in it, but most don't really focus on the dancing. But for rover they settled on bada lee
who is mainly a krump battle dancer, it lacked authenticity. Not to get all so you think you can dance, but Jongin cannot do that and at sm they make no effort to really teach everyone learns on their own and they aren't really pushed to be at a certain standard.
Kasper and all those other choreographers and that studio they get most of the dancers from have a very specific skill sets.
They've been with sm for quite some time and I get that, loyalty but like the art world don't work like that they're gonna get left behind.
they got clout about 2013 from america's best dance crew made it to the quarter finals cool. We back to Korea with prestige
Did the olympics alongside exo.
I get sm always wants people with lots of prestige and clout but they tend to keep the same people for so long the creative image of sm gets stifled and left behind, now sm is desperately trying all the trends and fads to get their artists relevant to the youth again. Like it's a little late they should have been letting young creative directors in.
I don't care I'm always gonna advocate for new and upcoming artist with lots of passion. They make the world turn, they start the trends, they bring the most energy with their ideas.
Ignoring the performative style an artist specializes in and getting choreographers that make lite hood tik tok mashup dances is ruining the game. But if one must do it I think letting the western choreographers they bring in for ideas have some real creative freedom. It typically never fails I feel like they bring in these choreographers for a blueprint then let a korean choreographer twist it up a little bit so they never have to really give somebody credit. They never say western names hardly if ever only thank you team who contributed to the success but the korean choreographers get to show their face, do interviews, and idols basically have them as a part of the crew.
Like they are NOT slick. At all. I know the western choreographers get inspo from southern hip hop but at least they are transparent. They'll say this is inspired by this dance, two step, crank that, etc but it never is even a topic of discussion. Only full credit going to the k choreographers and yeah yeah some other people helped...like people forget why exo's choreo was so on point when they started
I really don't wanna make it seem like it's just black creators they try to shelve and ignore it's basically anyone non korean.
Tony Testa I remember him from back in the day but when I wanted to search him up to my surprise nobody really talked about him and the only choreographer people talk about training Kai is mainly Mihawk and Kasper...which is somewhat true.
Cause they're choreo is...like it's okay.. but Kai himself went into how Mihawk trained Exo and it was basically sm style, yelling, you're terrible, quit now, emotional abuse... wow you're famous I love you let's take pictures.. I don't care they gaslight them kids idc idc idc. Now that's trauma bonding.
But then there's the actual full truth that they and many other sm performers who have been praised for their dances around that time, were in fact trained by a real deal professional at one point, one of their staple choreographers was Tony Testa and he choreographed for Britney Spears(circus) and Michael Jackson(Testa was hired by director Kenny Ortega as an associate choreographer for Michael Jackson's final tour This Is It which obviously never got to happen but still)
This was dance on sunset? I think?
and suddenly the quality makes all the sense in the world
But again try and find it without knowing about it before hand you'd be like yeah no they never really had any western choreographers. There's no history books in Kpop if you were there you remember but if you weren't woops doesn't exist.
except it does.
Anyway too many people have this weird odd narrative Mihawk did it all and thank God for him like....how? He's just one of the only one's still there. Everybody else left cause Korea is trash to artists and creatives.
Like Kai cannot do that hood stuff, he wasn't trained for that at all. Now if sm invested more in there artists fine blame him but everybody knows these kids would dance in that basement for hours by themselves cause be honest they probably paid the teachers for a certain amount of time and then it's all on the kids. They absorb as much as they can but then it's up to them. He couldn't just learn such an advanced style like krumping from watching, you either grow up in the culture or you learn from someone who grew up in the culture. This is why you can't expect these Korean teachers to teach krumping. They know it but only cause they most likely learned from someone close to the source, it's not just something that can spread so easily.
sm has always like historically done this like it's just something they do they will never stop taking these itsy bitsy pieces of black culture and recycling it they can't help it. They've worked with tons of black artist to make the actual music and tend to get some western or black influenced people to try and create some type of instant quick success. But it's so subtle one could say it's not related at all.
I would say its a coincidence but knowing who trained shotaro like uhm no it's not,
Sm knows exactly what company trained Shotaro and they are known to specialize in krumping and hip hop. The little time he spent at sm most likely taught him barely anything he was already trained when they got him. They fib so much and never let their artists go into detail. He trained for years with a company that trains people in the top boy groups in japan.
EXPG is a studio connected with the iconic Japanese boy group exile tribe where most of their members train.
I just get tired of people saying 'studio from japan or studio in america' like if it was Korean people would give the entire name...like what's wrong with giving people credit who deserve it.
They typically sometimes get sent to new york for 2 years I think? But that was in the old days it may be different now. This is because the japanese always understood if you want your artist to do black music they should not just sing black music but be under the cultural american influence in some sort of way.
I don't know what they aren't getting, Kai isn't perfect at every style. They just don't plan on ever investing any more money into him or really any of their artists.
He was more in his comfort zone at the beginning of exo with a heavy emphasis on jazz and contemporary style dance.
If there isn't jazz or contemporary at least in the basis of the dance that's where Kai starts to falter. Broadway theater style is what he's most comfortable in. But because of appearance they push urban dance on him.
They didn't even try with bomba
Rover was a soul crushing mix between crank that soulja boi and the macarena.
I was watching the video like nooo that's every viral black/ethnic dance in one and I already knew that tagged choreographer was korean. I wanna analyze rover later but I might get upset it's pretty like a big major 106 in park style mv/music video and dance but like that fact just got
Everything he specializes in sm is like nah they also make anyone with sm have this weird loyalty to where the artist never get to express and cultivate themselves as a human. They are stuck in some sort of child/star hybrid.
I don't know why in the world they didn't send exo or at least super m to millenium they literally rented out the studio where so many talented dancers choreograph and just flew out they korean choreographer so ignorant. They were so stubborn with that group.
I feel like if they were trained by young vibrant artist close to their age they could of gotten so much inspiration. Freedom is really a virus and why would a kpop company want them to have freedom
Like hire the boy he just traveling around asia in his spare time making some of the best choreography of his career and they're like lalalala let's hire other people he's worked and trained with but not him. If anyone could actually help fill in the gaps with some of sm's main dancers I think he could.
Anyway I just feel definitely by 2025 either super m is gonna be somewhat active or sm will be out of business but I still think sean and kai should at least meet up once at a dance conference they become friends and post jazzy contemporary dances online with the occasional obligatory bff's cooking in the kitchen youtube channel, like so many of the peebles do now and days. They both do the same artsy triple threat yet auditioning to be a stay at home husband type of thing, cooking, yoga, self care. Like it can be good for the brand I swear. I just have a thing for artsy people with the same vibes clicking up. It's not so far fetched cause he already worked with Jackson. I just want the two balls of sunshine to meet
I miss super m because all there personalities clashed in the best way, there was tension, drama, suspense, they all triggered eachother constantly it was beautiful.
I literally don’t even care that everyone hated it. It reminded me of one d because at least in america and the west they were allowed to clash and not think of how fans would take what they said. They could be a bit more rough around the edges and bicker. Honestly I didn’t wasn’t even aware of them for like the first year I was kinda late but I was able to watch there first year content without the feeling of second hand embarrassment cause it was all over. But I was surprised it wasn’t that bad and I wish they would of done more promo in america but the timing was off.
From what I can tell at least Kai got to finally dance at full capacity and actually had people to compete against. I want to make a large post because I think a lotta people actually didn’t pay attention to how much interesting stuff occured in super m. Unlike with exo and nct the members didn’t have to worry about longterm fans. All super m fans were basically solo fans and they weren’t necessarily there for shipping or who they think the members were but moreso because they wanted something new. Their favorite artists able to stretch their wings and be less of a team and more individuals who happened to be in a group.
It reminded me more of how old jpop groups were, more boyish and brash and rough around the edges. A bigger focus on platonic male bonding rather than hardcore serious storyline shipping. It was so beautiful.
But I have so many thoughts on super m. I feel like if I keep talking about them enough the universe will finally give me that netflix docu about them I’ve been waiting for. I think they have potential, at least for a few albums and then a good world tour. Honestly I’d like if some of the members retired with super m rather than their own groups which tbh couldn’t handle any big comebacks or worldtours.
I already know the new sm boygroup is just to introduce probably one or two artists who will eventually be put into the new version of super m to replace lucas and probably baekyun because I doubt they’ll let him be leader after he sued.
I may check out the new nct docu but idk like disney plus wtf, sounds right up sm’s alley but I didn’t think 3.0 sm was going kid friendly but it is more marketable and they’ve been courting disney for years.
I’d write more but it’s late
Since it will prolly come out soon I'll just post this with the info available. Even though I think my old analysis will also be at least somewhat accurate
So firstly the paris
there's a map of the seine river
Dive in(honestly I hope this isn't a title track or an album title but it could be a lyric)
Probably it's something about childhood or age because they keep showing stuff of him as a child
He liked the movie pirates of the carribbean play when he was younger so it might be related to that period of time.
he's wearing the colors of the french flag
Interestingly enough the beginning of the movie takes place in
Jamaica is a french colony
"The French colonial empire in the Americas comprised New France (including Canada and Louisiana), French West Indies (including Saint-Domingue, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Dominica, St. Lucia, Grenada, Tobago and other islands) and French Guiana."
This also connects to Bomba which is a afro-latino island dance style
"Bomba is an umbrella term that refers to a variety of musical styles and associated dances originating in Puerto Rico. It was developed by enslaved Africans and their descendants in sugar plantations along coastal towns, most notably Loiza, Mayagüez, Ponce, and San Juan, during the 17th century."
" The Bomba is of African origin and came to Puerto Rico with the introduction of African Slaves. The Bomba is traditionally played with percussion instruments, such as drums. The Plena was later derived from the Bomba style. These music styles and the traditional dances to it, represent the infusion of Taino, European and African traditions"
In the lyrics for Bomba it's kind of confirmed
In the behind the scenes for the tour someone described what the concept will be like
they said this and idk why nobody is talking about it because this video for the tour guide kind of explains what the album is going to be about
the stage looks are also with less clothes. So honestly I think it's gonna be basically what I thought it was going to be since it's a continuation of the other themes.
Stopping time and immortality references.
I'll stop here cause I don't wanna spoil the entire thing.
Mostly because I don't even think this album is new, I think this is something that was supposed to be a pt 2 to rover, meaning parts of it may have already been filmed like 2 years ago.
Cause the filming time doesn't make sense and they didn't spend more than a day and a half filming cause in between people thinking he was filming a music video in reality he was filming that ralph lauren mini film in...paris I think. They may have quickly shot some things in the middle of him doing promotion and fashion stuff. But I do not think it's much more than a few extra scenes and clips. He's been filming sparsely meaning the recording and everything was probably mostly done and they may have been doing reshoots or ad on scenes. Which explains why he dyed his hair blonde because one of the old scenes might be when he was filming during rover, so he had to match those scenes. Then the new hair color is probably because the 2nd mv is with brown hair. Otherwise they torched his hair for no reason or it was just a wig. And I know reshoots/wigs to cover up new hair due to extended periods between filming due to snyder verse. When filming is done in super short periods of time and magically everything is done that's a reshoot.
Or maybe they put moments or video clips from his childhood to make it like similar to one of those look how I've grown projects like beyonce did putting her childhood videos in her tour. Anyway that's what I think.
I love how @runwaylooks asked us what radical feminist has done and continues to do to this day, and then immediately deletes the post.
Anways…
1. Arab radical feminists liberating women across the Middle East (here, here)
2. African feminists bringing exposure to and addressing issues such as FGM and menstrual stigma. Examples include Laetitia Ky, Hibo Wardere, Sylvia Chioma, Nomcebo Mkhaliphi who you can all read more about here, since they were all under attack by trans activists over their activism.
3. Radical feminism rising all across Latin America, addressing issues such as femicide and abortion rights (here, here, here). Speaking of radical feminism in Latin America, you can watch this discussion with Bruna Santiago, the co-editor of Radical Feminism Magazine QG Feminista (a radical feminist magazine in Brazil) here, including other radical / gender-critical feminists. These are all comprised of women who work to bring awareness to women’s sex-based rights, among other feminist topics in Brazil (femicide, abortion, sexual violence).
4. Radical feminists in South Korea developing the 4B (”4 ‘No’s”) movement to liberate women in the country from centering men, and other patriarchal practices, from their lives. You can read more about it here, here, and here. Speaking of feminism in South Korea, it has actually grown more radical feminist as the country descends more into extreme patriarchy. They also address femicide and abortion rights, among many other topics.
5. French radical feminists fighting against violence against women in their country, as well as street violence and harassment (here)
6. Groups like Radical Women that continue to unite and uphold womens’ activism in various regions (here is the link to their website where you can browse around)
And those are just some, I’m sure we can find much more.
