[[hi so it’s finally come time for me to snap.

i recieve asks and comments like this EVERY DAY. in the past i would be nice and humor them, or maybe draw some gerita for them anyway. but i’m not going to do that anymore.

i have made explicitly clear on this blog, on my main, on my instagram, and on my twitter that i DO NOT like gerita. it’s come to the point where this ship actually triggers me because of all the negative experiences i’ve had with bad gerita stans. and do you know how draining it is to get comments about gerita on every single one of my posts? i can’t even draw germany and italy being FRIENDS because all it gets me is “you should draw gerita more often!” or “i love your itapan art but your gerita are is even better” . i can’t post itapan art without people commenting “i wonder how germany feels about this?” “i wonder where germany was when this was happening?”

there is enough gerita content in this fandom already. you don’t need mine. in fact i’ll reccomend you to @ask-news which is a wonderful ask blog that has gerita content that im sure you’ll enjoy. as for my blog, i’m very close to making it so there will be no ships whatsoever. i wanted this to be a fun space where i could explore my three favorite characters and also provide some content for ships that don’t receive nearly enough attention, but this isn’t fun for me anymore.

and just so i can finally get this out there, because i know someone will read this and say “you’re just being mean, not all gerita stans are like this”:

in 2016 i was apart of a gerita group. germany and italy have been my favorite characters since i joined the fandom in 2012, so naturally i was a big gerita fan. if you don’t believe me you can go to my main blog @frukmerunning, search gerita, and see all of the fanart that i used to do for a ship i now hate. when i was in that group i was targeted by the groups founder (who i will keep anonymous) for shipping germany with other people. he vagued about me, tried to start drama, and eventually kicked me from the group, all because i drew germano and germerica fanart. he also called me homophobic for headcanoning germany as bisexual, and tried to turn all of his followers against me. this is very short version of a long and complicated story, but this incident caused me to drop gerita for a long time. but despite that, i continued to give gerita more and more chances, because i found comfort in the ship, even though it had by associate caused me a lot of distress when i was a teenager.

i took a hiatus starting in 2017 and when i returned in 2020 i decided to give gerita ANOTHER chance. but in return one of my own mutuals who was a gerita stan constantly vagued about me and my opinions and tried to insinuate that i was personally making gerita less popular by making content for itapan and germano. i blocked them, as anyone would, because i was tired of that negativity. and now this person is saying that me and the other popular fandom blogs are somehow pulling the strings of the fandom and making it so their content won’t get any attention, which is ridiculous.

and yes, i KNOW that not all people who ship gerita are like this. these two examples are just bad apples. but i’m sorry, i can’t keep picking apples from the same tree hoping that i’ll get something good, when i’ve been fooled twice. this is MY experience with gerita, and no amount of “not everyone is like that” or “there are plenty of nice gerita stans” will ever change my perception. i have many friends who love gerita that respect my view on the matter and don’t push their ship on me. so i would appreciate if my followers would do the same. i love creating content for the fandom, especially for the few of us that love itapan, but it’s become so tiring.

Finally drew a new drawing! Tried to be more detailed on the hair, so tell me if I did good! I will ask you to leave suggestions for what I can draw, as I used a generator to decide to draw this.

I dont really like making rebloggable posts but I haven’t seen anyone mention them yet: terracotta heaters are really easy and effective DYI heaters for cold emergencies and I think it might be helpful considering, you know

TDLR, place a candle of any size down, and put a terracotta pot (as large as possible preferably) over it, with something non-flammable and balanced to keep the bottom an inch or two off the ground, like bricks. 

The candle will heat the terracotta, which will put off heat, while the space underneath lets smoke out and oxygen in. I’ve used these all 3 times we had outages here in Maine during blizzards to keep my aquariums warm, the weather outside had been easily -20 F with high winds, and not only was I cozy, that shit kept the water 10 degrees above room temperature. If it can heat the aquariums, it’ll heat a small room.

They work so much better than you’d think, the heat they put off is insane. Obviously be careful because smoke and open flame, but they’re very easy to make and just need an eye kept on them on all times.

 Don’t touch the heated pot bare-handed, it’ll burn like a motherfucker, they get VERY hot. Use thick oven mitts or layered rags to remove pot, put the candle out first if you can manage. Don’t do more than one or two in a non-ventilated or closed room, it’s still making smoke and that can make it harder to breathe.
