Been thinking about this a lot.

If Venom is so much of a loser back home, how did they end up on this highly important mission? What possible purpose would they serve? Riot is the leader, of course, and I’m assuming Carrion (yellow) and Blight (blue) would probably be like combat and study, so why is this dumb gay there?

And then it hit me.

The only constructs Venom ever produced during fights were defensive. When the Foundation goons bust up Eddie’s apartment, they make a shield to protect the people whose window they just crashed through from getting shot. The fight with Riot, they produce a big one to keep him from tearing their face off. After the rocket, they created a parachute so Eddie didn’t get hurt—at what could easily have been the cost of their own life. They told Anne not to get involved because it would be dangerous.

Venom was just a tank. The only reason they were there was to take damage and keep the others safe.

Fuck, man.

Venom drags Eddie into a seedy club out of sheer curiosity. Trying to make the most of a night he didn’t choose for himself, Eddie tries to get laid. Instead, he gets mugged. Afterwards, Venom doesn’t let Eddie feel too disappointed about the missed opportunity.

Eddie is not used to loneliness. It’s his biggest fear, what used to eat him alive back when his life couldn’t be worse.

He is not alone anymore.

In which figuring things out can be tough when your jerkbag alien goo friend is as bad at feelings as you are, but they get there in the end.

venom booping eddie’s nose when they first talk face to face reblog if u agree

My favorite thing about Venom (2018) is Eddie’s reaction to crazy shit.

When Venom, this homicidal alien he has known for like 20 minutes and who has just used his body to slaughter some fools is like “we should rip all their heads off lol” he’s just like,,, “why?????????”

Then when Venom crashes the cars and he is like Woah I’m Not Dead™ he is just like “you know that was pretty cool” and gets so distracted he gets hit by a car

And then after learning Venom, who he got immediately attached to, was killing him, and getting kidnapped by Drake, Drake whips out a whole ass other fucking symbiote. Eddie both didn’t know he existed and knows what symbiotes are capable of. This is deadly and shocking. And he’s just like “HOLY FUCK THAT THINGS UGLY”

Then he’s back with Venom who just told him they have basically 0% chance of beating Drake&Riot. Eddie is convinced he’s going to die. And then his entire character motivation for being a hero is “fuck it”

What a relatable disaster of a human I love him he’s the most realistic protagonist I’ve seen in so long
