and they were roommates (chapter seven)

“Piper, I’m having an emergency.”

“Okay, on a scale of English essay to ridiculously repressed feelings, how bad?”

“I can’t—wait, are those the worst things you could think of me FaceTiming you for?” Annabeth isn’t sure whether to laugh or take offense. “Actually, it doesn’t matter. What the fuck do people wear to parties?”

“I don’t know. A dress or something?”

“Piper, I know you know these things.”

“Then you would know I learned everything against my will, Annabeth. You’re asking me to revisit a very traumatic time in my life.”

“Just answer the question.”

“Okay, just know that my therapist will hear about this.”

“Piper.”

More than 1/8th of the White Mountain Apache Tribe has tested positive for Covid-19.

They have been hit EXTREMELY hard and I have seen no posts going around talking about it. It is one of the hardest hit places in ARIZONA, a state that already has horribly high case numbers.

They have a Covid relief gofundme. Please donate if you can and spread this if you can't.

Lacy giggled, following behind her. “You must have it bad if you’d rather suffer through a fitting than talk about him.”

“You’re the one who said I had to pick something for the gala today or die trying. Dying is not on the schedule.”

“Uh-huh.” Lacy carefully set the shoe box on a vanity chair, away from the chaos of the rest of the dressing room chaos. Annabeth grabbed one dress off the rack they’d gone through yesterday. “I’ve heard rumors about him.”

“You and everybody else in this damn city.”

“Ugh, not those rumors. Everyone knows he’s a beast to be around.” Annabeth frowned, but had no time to defend Percy before Lacy continued with her clarification, “I meant the sexy rumors, duh.”

People in Gaza have been saying this would happen since the very start, as soon as the occupation started corralling everyone into the southern part of the strip they said this would happen. We watched it happen as the “safe” zones grew smaller and smaller and every time Rafah was targeted by air strikes even before this. And no one who could actually stop this lifted a finger. It’s been 129 days.

Jealous percy drabble? Yes please if you could that'd be great!!

Percy loves spending time with his friends—he really does—but time and experience have shown him that the definition of quality time varies wildly within their group.

For Percy, quality time is laid back: a nighttime drive without a destination, full belly laughs filling the living room, sandy toes washed clean after that first step into the ocean. After all they’ve had to endure, it’s these pockets of serenity that he loves most.

Piper is a different story. She sees their time spent in boarding schools and on quests as missed opportunities. After all these years fighting for their lives, Piper argues that they’ve hardly had a chance to live them.

College separates the seven of them to different universities on different coasts, so moments where they’re all in the same place are few and far between. When those moments come, Piper’s excited energy resonates with the entire group, and they end up doing something wild each time.

Except they is a loose term. They is a group that consists of Piper, Leo, Annabeth, Hazel, and Frank (in that order) while Percy and Jason act as the designated sober group parents.

“I guess we did this to ourselves, huh?” Percy nudges Jason with his shoulder while waiting on their girlfriends’ drinks.

here’s the ao3 link for those who are interested

By the last week of September, all traces of summer were well and truly gone. There was a crispness to the air that Annabeth knew would soon turn into a biting chill, the kind that seeped into your fingers. With the end of September came the start of the new swim season and the very first meet of the season. Annabeth drummed her fingers against the wheel of her father’s old Subaru Forester, glaring at the stop light which had been resolutely red for the past five minutes. The meet was due to start in three minutes, but she was still ten minutes away from where it was being held.

Annabeth cast another baleful glare the traffic light’s way and stole a sip of lukewarm coffee from her thermos just as the light turned green. The Subaru groaned as she hit the accelerator hard and lurched forward so abruptly that her father’s briefcase fell from its spot in the backseat. She arrived seven minutes late and rushed inside, following the sterile scent of chlorine towards the pool, hoping desperately Percy’s heat hadn’t started yet. There was a heat already underway when she finally got to the pool, which made her heart sink before she noticed Sally and Estelle waving to her from the bleachers. Annabeth made her way over to them, half-jogging, and took her seat next to Sally.

“We saved you a spot, Annabeth!” Estelle said brightly.

“Thanks, guppy,” Annabeth said breathlessly. “I’m not too late, right?”

“No, you’re fine, honey. Percy’s heat still won’t be for a while,” Sally said. “It’s good to see you! It’s been far too long.”

If grandmothers around the world had a rallying cry, it would probably sound something like “You need to eat!”

Photographer Gabriele Galimberti’s grandmother said something similar to him before one of his many globetrotting work trips. To ensure he had at least one good meal, she prepared for him a dish of ravioli before he departed on one of his adventures.

“In that occasion I said to my grandma ‘You know, Grandma, there are many other grandmas around the world and most of them are really good cooks,” Galimberti wrote via email. “I’m going to meet them and ask them to cook for me so I can show you that you don’t have to be worried for me and the food that I will eat!’ This is the way my project was born!”

The project, “Delicatessen With Love”, took Galimberti to 58 countries where he photographed grandmothers with both the ingredients and finished signature dishes.

He acted as photographer and stylist during each shoot with the grandmothers, taking a portrait of both the women and the food they made for him.

From top to bottom:

Inara Runtule, 68, Kekava, Latvia. Silke €(herring with potatoes and cottage cheese). Grace Estibero, 82, Mumbai, India. Chicken vindaloo.

Susann Soresen, 81, Homer, Alaska. Moose steak.

Serette Charles, 63, Saint-Jean du Sud, Haiti. Lambi in creole sauce.

The photographer’s grandmother Marisa Batini, 80, Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy. Swiss chard and ricotta Ravioli with meat sauce.

Normita Sambu Arap, 65, Oltepessi (Masaai Mara), Kenya. Mboga and orgali (white corn polenta with vegetables and goat).

Julia Enaigua, 71, La Paz, Bolivia. Queso Humacha (vegetables and fresh cheese soup).

Fifi Makhmer, 62, Cairo, Egypt. Kuoshry (pasta, rice and legumes pie).

Isolina Perez De Vargas, 83, Mendoza, Argentina. Asado criollo (mixed meats barbecue).

Bisrat Melake, 60, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Enjera with curry and vegetables.
