ok shoutout to Tommy and Wilbur for having the best responses to the whole ace race thing! Other ppl also had awesome ones (maybe not dteam but that’s ok absolutely no hate to them) but I mostly watched Wilbur and Tommy
Tommy arguably got fucked over the most with the whole ace race glitch thing and almost instantly after he just. doubled down on positivity. He was like ‘it’s ok!!! Everyone was affected it’s no big deal :)’ and I was ready to fist fight someone for him but his response made me see sense very quickly. He also immediately said not to send hate on his behalf and even tho red rabbits struggled with the glitches they still kept the energy up and had a good time
And Wilbur, known ace race-anti, made it pretty clear he wasn’t actually upset and even logged onto Twitter again to defend Scott!! He also had the best opinion I think, saying it was unfair Scott tested but it was an overall awesome experience and he was excited it happened and had a good time
just. they’re so good guys. So many ccs made sure to defend smajor on Twitter and that is simply awesome of them
I literally cannot picture anything else when I look at dream’s skin.
Hi hey yes let’s talk about something that’s been bugging me when it comes to Ranboo, Tommy, and Tubbo (and also any cc’s that are minors). There’s a lot of people out there who need to realize that there is a balance between not babying them while also recognizing that they’re still teenagers. They don’t have the same legal abilities as adults do, but they’re not stupid. Don’t try and shield them from the real world or tell them that they shouldn’t be allowed to talk about “controversial” stuff or give their opinions. On the opposite side though you shouldn’t ignore the fact that they’re still minors. “But they’re close to being eighteen” okay and? It doesn’t matter how close they are, they’re still seventeen years old. You shouldn’t hold them on the exact same level as someone in their 20’s. They still need a legal guardian to be able to do a lot of things.
What I’m trying to say overall is Tommy, Tubbo, and Ranboo aren’t seven, they’re seventeen, and people should recognize that there needs to be a balance that allows them to continue to learn while also giving them the space and room to make mistakes and grow.
hey guys! let’s talk about something called narrative distance.
you’ve probably heard of it before! narrative distance is the degree of separation between the reader and the narrator or character in the story. first person vs. third person is a good way to show narrative distance: consider how “I stomped inside, the pavement burning the soles of my feet, my wet hair sticking to the back of my sweaty neck, so hot my skin felt like it was melting” feels compared to the more impersonal “Jack stormed in, his face flushed with heat”.
now let’s be incredibly pretentious and translate narrative distance to minecraft roleplay. in this sense, a regular ranboo semi-lore stream where we watch c!ranboo spill all his deepest fears while recounting his thought process would be the equivalent of first person. there is very little distance between c!ranboo and the viewer. we get to see and hear and know everything c!ranboo sees and hears and knows, and if he doesn’t know something, we don’t know it either.
a tftsmp stream would be the equivalent of third person: we see c!karl in brief segments where he doesn’t reveal any inner thoughts or conflict, and the more edited and produced format means we’re separated from the character himself and the normally first-person minecraft experience. we aren’t seeing the world through his eyes, we’re watching his life from a bird’s eye view.
narrative distance can affect how we view characters and how sympathetic we are towards them. for example, during the exile arc, the viewers are firmly in c!tommy’s shoes, seeing everything that happens to him, hearing all his thoughts, living his life in the first person perspective nonstop for two weeks. we’re so incredibly close to c!tommy that c!dream’s arrival feels like a jumpscare. for contrast, when c!quackity’s torture of c!dream is mentioned or shown, it’s sanitized by production value, editing, montages, discretion cuts, and music overlaid on top. when the viewers get to see the characters interacting, they cut in after the gruesome bits are over, and it’s at most a ten minute snippet that’s not from the perspective of the victim.
although c!dream is the victim in this situation, it’s harder to see him as such and feel sympathetic, because it’s so very impersonal. the torture is more a word-of-god concept than an actual scene, because we never see it. we get very little idea of its effects, and on top of that, c!dream doesn’t even have a perspective to watch. compare to c!tommy, whose abuse was laid out in gritty detail, and whose cc has painstakingly acted out the lingering trauma in every stream since– which happen to be mainly in an unedited slice-of-life style. and we can connect that to the difficulty in viewing c!dream sympathetically as well: we as viewers were very close to a storyline where c!dream was a villain, and very separate from the storyline where he’s a victim. which impression of the character do you think would be stronger?
narrative distance contributes to how we view villains. c!schlatt is gleefully hated, a static but well-rounded character that we don’t feel any sympathy for. the viewers are distanced from him because he doesn’t have a perspective and only shows up for plot-related events on others’ streams or for comedy bits. nobody tries to look into his motivations and nobody’s sad when he dies. we’re not close to him, we don’t understand him, and we don’t need to.
then there’s c!quackity, who we watch go from a regular funnyman to an idealistic politician to a ruthless but caring advisor to a manipulative asshole focused on power. we walk in his shoes for every step of the way, we see his motivations and fears and inner thoughts, and we feel sympathy. and then he starts to distance himself, starts to edit and produce his streams and only show certain scenes without any emotional vulnerability, and starts acting as a villain. it’s kind of genius because he’s adding narrative distance while his character becomes harder to sympathize for. but we can still understand the character and feel pity for him, because we as viewers have lived his life and we know who he is and what he ultimately wants and needs.
narrative distance. it’s pretty cool.
I am once politely asking for a villain arc for Dsmp!bench trio because i just simply need them to go really feral
Also can you fellas recommend me any of villain bench trio fics i can read? I would really appreciate it❤️

There have been a lot of comments about how Doomsday wasn’t very satisying, and I think that’s the point? Doomsday wasn’t supposed to be a cathartic resolution. It was supposed to be destruction, leaving an empty void and making room for new stories.
It was a catalyst for many character’s arcs.
Fundy and Niki turned against the home that hurt them, that they didn’t feel was really there anymore, finally moving on. Dream, Tommy, and Tubbo were set up for a final confrontation to end the disk war. Ranboo realized that by choosing everyone he had chosen no one. He lost everything and started over with new allies. Quackity knew it was a losing fight and went back anyway. He risked his last life to stand against Dream’s power once again and further solidified his character. Jack fought for a nation and friend that had left him behind and gained nothing for it but death and a burning anger.
That’s just naming a few central characters, but no one’s current arcs were really in a place to wrap up neatly here.
If Doomsday resolved anything it was the Butcher Army Arc. I’ve said it before, but for Techno Doomsday was mostly retribution and self defense because of his execution. It highlights the futility and endless nature of retribution, of the cycle of violence everyone is locked into. No one came out any better after the smoke cleared. No one’s mind was changed, no one became a better person because of anything that happened, it was just destruction.
So if you felt empy and unsatisfied after Doomsday, good.
That was the point.
SOMEONE SAID IT FINALLY
Just found out that not everybody knows that it was Techno who originally suggested to Philza that Ranboo could live with them, so here’s your casual reminder. (clip). (To see their whole conversation about Ranboo go back to 2:09:40)
This is a very sweet, but also an important moment for c!Techno’s characterization. How he is ready to help, despite still feeling hurt and not wanting to be vulnerable again any time soon. This also makes every instance of Tsundareblade so MUCH better!

so tired of seeing people argue that schlatt and dream aren't villains. like im not even going to make an essay about the bad things they've done because nothing gets through yall's thick skulls. them not being villains literally just does not make any narrative sense. why the fuck would they be good guys and the rest of the server be bad. what the fuck. that doesnt even make sense.
they doN'T EVEN STREAM. the whole point of using streaming as a medium is to make characters worth sympathizing with!! that's why people like c!techno! that's why people like c!wilbur! that's why people like c!jack!! and c!tommy! and c!bbh!!! they are sympathetic characters because they have povs which we can access, because they have struggles and strifes which lead to their actions and allow us to better understand them
dream! and schlatt! don't stream dsmp! ON PURPOSE. because we aren't SUPPOSED to completely know what goes on in their head, we only know how they affect others! and that's not FUCKING PROPAGANDA from the povs we do watch, THATS JUST STORYTELLING
*starts knocking shit over* sometimes! i need to pull out the meta card! people make me tired!
did anyone else spot the parallel btw in the green festival where Tommy pulled himself out of a spiral and decided not to partake in the destruction of l'manburg (thus, refusing to follow in Wilbur's footsteps), and Tubbo refusing the execute Ranboo after he was outed as a traitor (thus, refusing to follow in Schlatt's footsteps). the fact that it was on the same day as well? has anyone pointed that out?
/rp im still never gonna be over the fact that, after tommy’s prison break-in stream, the general fandom response was “how could sam stop caring about tommy like that!?” when, if you’ve been keeping up with sam’s arc over the past few months, that stream did nothing but show how much he adores tommy
when ponk stole sam’s old keycards and even entertained the idea of breaking into prison, sam took his life, and his arm. sam gave him warnings, yes, but when ponk went through with it anyways sam showed him no mercy
compare this to tommy, who actually broke in. who got all the way to the main cell before being caught. who sam thinks is actively trying to break dream out. what does sam do to him in response? absolutely nothing. you can’t even say tommy got off with a slap on the wrist, because sam didn’t even do that much! he didn’t hit tommy a single time
and that, my friends, is one of the reasons why sam was so excruciatingly angry during this scene. he was angry at himself for not living up to his own expectations as The Warden. for not being strong enough. he was angry at tommy for even putting him in that position in the first place, and revealing his weaknesses. he repeats it over and over: “you should be dead right now. i should have killed you.” but he loves tommy too much to let him off with anything but a warning
when sam says “you should be dead” he means “the protocol states i should have killed you, but i can’t (i don’t want to) and that infuriates me”. when sam says “this is why i let you die- what am i supposed to do now?” he means “this is why i didn’t let you out of the cell. i was afraid dream would take advantage of the situation and something worse would happen”
sam says “go away. i don’t ever want to see you again”. he means “i don’t want you to die”

"(Insert character here) will be the one to defeat c!Wilbur!" "No, (Insert character here) will be the one to finally put a stop to c!Wilbur's plans!"
You fools. You absolute fools. There is historically only one person with enough pure spite and raw ability to stop Wilbur Soot, whatever he plans on doing, dead in his tracks.

Ranboo and Ran

Tubbo’s not at fault for not opening up about his trauma but Tommy isn’t at fault for not knowing Tubbo has that trauma and assuming he has thicker skin unknowingly because Tubbo’s coping mechanism is repression.
They are both hurt and traumatized but neither of them is purposefully ignoring the other’s trauma
I'm gonna keep repeating what Ranboo has been saying about the song, be respectful guys!
ive heard people are trying to recover and organise old VODS that might have been deleted because of twitch and such, and i wanted to say, this might be an easier solution
recently i made a poot abt this channel Blueberry TV that has been making videos of the entire smp from the start, and they link this playlist full of vods in order from the start of the smp, so i figured i would share it: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2hRs9vP8zCpeV1mkjk3J0eBnNvk3mMI1
it has over 1000 vods, some from official vod channels, some from fan re-uploads, but i think it has the majority, if not every vod out there
[sorry for many tags, i wanted to make sure this reaches the people who are looking for it]
Okay, serious talk time, I understand why the dsmp fandom/philza tumblr doesnt want the CC on this app. Mainly it focuses on the fact that this app is, at its core, an anonymous site used to discuss interests with each other without other people potentially making you become a known person outside of this app. Which is why the fandom rule of “There is stuff only for the fans, not for the CCs” is in place. This is a safe space to discuss fandoms and interests without feeling the crushing knowledge that the CC has seen it.
However, there is another lesser known fandom rule which people seem to have forgotten as well. This rule is “Don’t say things you wouldn’t say to the CCs face”, which if your posts make you embarrassed not by the fact that the CC is seeing it, but because the content your making would make the CC uncomfortable and your aware of that, then you need to stop making that content.
I’m not saying you should show your work to them if your embarrassed by your own work! Quiet the opposite actually, as once again we shouldn’t be shoving our work in their face because it can cause harm within the fandom and CCs mental health and wellbeing (see Markiplier and Jacksepticeye, Dan and Phil, etc). I’m simply saying if your CC comes to your post and gets uncomfortable by it and you know they would be uncomfortable with it (I.E. they said they don’t want shipping stuff about them but you post shipping stuff) then you might need to stop doing what your doing.
And if you’re one of the CCs that has just joined Tumblr, welcome! As you can see this site is very shy and doesn’t enjoy CCs making a big fuss about stuff. Please go read some of the Tumblr etiquette posts made to twitter people migrating to tumblr as it will help you understand what’s going on here.
Once again everyone, please remember that you should only post what you know your comfortable with the CC seeing. They probably wont interact with it, but remember that your still apart of the fandom they have cultivated and as such, have the possibility of being seen. Have a nice day everyone.
Hopefully I don’t have to do it again..
And I know it’s not everyone but we should still address this/nm
Hi guys!!! Resident dteam simp back to remind everyone of face reveal etiquette in lieu of ranboo’s announcement today !!
1) do not be upset if he looks different to the way you imagined. I know it seems weird but we’ve all seen the comments under other you tubers face reveals before and it has to be said
2) do not insult him. Again, seems obvious yet you’d be surprised. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to ever insult ranboo on his appearance, and if I catch anybody insulting him you will find yourself short of a few kneecaps
3) remember that doing this puts him in an extremely vulnerable position. any YouTuber puts themselves in a vulnerable position upon doing a face reveal- it can be easier to recognise them for both fans and antis, and for ranboo the vulnerability of this decision is tenfold because he is a literal minor, this can make room for a load of inappropriate behaviour again from both fans and antis. Hea putting so much trust in us as his community to support him with this. He will most likely implement new boundaries regarding pictures of his face too. He’s young. He deserves our respect. Let’s not break his trust.
Please let’s be respectful and support ranboo 1000% !!! Let’s get him to 5 mil!!!
with ranboo saying he’s going to be face revealing at 5mil subs, i’m gonna take this as an opportunity to say please don’t be weird about it when it happens! he’s already said he’s not comfortable with people using his actual face as pfps, and he’ll likely say more before actually face revealing! respect his boundaries!
if I have to see one more mcyt x reader post, I’m flipping. I just want to see cool analysis about c!wilbur and c!tommy please just stop. these mcyts don’t want to be shipped with their fans. that’s weird. I kind of get it when you write about the creators who allow you to ship them with their friends (like dnf), but you aren’t their friends. Some of them have explicitly stated that shipping themselves with you is a no-no. These ccs don’t know you. They will most likely never get to know you on a personal level. And to the ones who write w/the minors, I see you. You’re disgusting and gross, even if you claim it’s platonic <3 and even if you’re a minor yourself. That doesn’t excuse anything. gonna be tagging the tags I see it in the most, sorry :/. it is tagged negative, so if you have that tagged blocked you won’t see it
