No te enamores de una persona curiosa. Querrá saber quién eres, de dónde vienes, cómo es tu familia. Mirará todas tus fotografías y leerá todos tus poemas. Vendrá a cenar y hablar con tu madre acerca de cómo su curiosidad le ha enseñado cosas muy útiles. Te pedirá que explotes cuando estás enojado y que llores cuando estás herido. Te preguntará qué significa esa ceja levantada. Querrá saber tu comida favorita, tu color favorito, tu persona favorita. Te preguntará por qué. Va a comprar esa cámara que te gustó, prestará atención a esa banda que amas en caso de que haya un show cerca, te llevará ese suéter al que le sonreíste una vez. Aprenderá a cocinar tus comidas favoritas. Los curiosos no se conforman con el exterior, desean el interior. Ellos quieren lo que te hace pesado, lo que te hace sentir incómodo, lo que te hace gritar de alegría, ira, y de angustia. Su piel se convertirá en páginas en las que aprenderás a derramar tu ser. No te enamores de una persona curiosa. No dejará un suspiro sin explicación. Querrá saber qué hizo exactamente, qué hizo para que la amaras. Año, mes, día, semana “¿A qué hora fue? ¿Qué dije? ¿Qué hice? ¿Cómo te sentiste?“ No te enamores de una persona curiosa, porque he estado allí. Desabrochará tu camisa y leerá cada cicatriz, cada marca, cada curva. Explorará cada una de tus extremidades, cada órgano, cada pensamiento, cada ser.

¿Acaso habrá una cosa que no sepas de mi?

I got to participate in the Soul Eater secret valentines exchange! This is my gift for @nerondynainfor ! Some goofy MaStar to fill your heart! The enemies to lovers trope is a classic and when I think of Maka and Blackstar I think about them being absolutely annoying to each other but love, care and respect each other, they just don’t admit it! In this one I like to think Blackstar gets on Maka’s nerves by taking bad selfies together and being obnoxious out in public but sweet and kind behind the scenes! I hope you like it! Happy Valentine’s Day!!!!

How The Steven Universe Movie Did Amnesia Well

Last week, I made a post covering the Dos and Do Nots of amnesia stories. What inspired it was the Steven Universe movie, which I personally thought was one of the best examples of how to make this kind of plot work.

So using the Four Elements I noticed as recurring in good memory-loss stories, I thought I’d use the film as a case study:

1) Emotional Weight

This is what Steven Universe has always excelled at, so of course it hit this one right on the head.

In many ways, amnesia is a threat perfectly suited for Steven. He is a character defined, more than almost any other I know, by his relationships. His love for Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl is the defining aspect of the show, and its main plot has always been how the four of them worked together to grow and develop.

Taking those relationships away from him is probably one of the scariest things he could experience.

Then, we have the flip side; how the Gems themselves react to memory loss. This is given less focus than in most amnesia stories, since they all essentially react like computers being rebooted. It’s a different and fun take.

The Gems’ reactions comes from getting their memories back- and those moments are some of my favourites in the film. Amethyst surprise quickly transforming into joyous laughter. Pearl’s self-satisfied pride as she gazes down at herself. Garnet calmly and confidently bursting into song as she defends Steven.

Which leads us into the next point…
