So it’s no secret Kvothe as an unreliable narrator, but the scene everyone jumps to for proof is when he’s going on about how beautiful Denna is and Bast interjects and tells us she isn’t as beautiful as he says. But here’s the thing: when you love someone, they are beautiful in your perspective, regardless of how other people see them. So I truly believe Kvothe when he goes on and on about how beautiful she was. I think that scene shows that there can be two truths. A skewed perspective can be an honest one.
On another note, the example I like to use to prove Kvothe is an unreliable narrator is Kvothe talking about how amazing and wonderful and moral Edema Ruh. They would never steal anything or kill anyone. And then Kvothe talks about he’s Edema Ruh. And then he steals and kills people. So I mean, this is the better example of proving Kvothe is an unreliable narrator.
I feel like I’m constantly at war with two sides of myself. One side wants to do amazing things like move mountains and create worlds. The other just wants lie in bed all day and watch Netflix.
That part about introverts liking the rain makes so much sense. Aside from the heat, the sun does feel a bit overstimulating. I found that the rain is very calming and I can concentrate better.
