It’s that people have fought and died to learn how to write, how to draw, how to paint and make music. Creation for more than just utility is a fundamental part of who we are as a species.
The more I think about it, the more I believe generative AI is not only an insult to the hundreds of thousands of years of human progress, but it’s an absolute rejection of the personhood of craftspeople.
Do I want to read the end of an unfinished fic but the writer has been inactive since 2010? Sometimes. Do I really want art of my OCs that doesn’t suck? All the time.
But the idea of using generative AI to fulfill my personal fleeting desires is such a deeply selfish, entitled one.
Learning skills and the personal autonomy that they allow us is a deep part of who we are, all of us. To deny yourselves that for a quick fix, and to deny respect to real human artists, is to give up that humanity for a fucking hit of dopamine you’ll just forget about in hours.

Clive is a 26 y/o full time botanist who is tasked with taking in his younger siblings, Kurt and Honey, after their parents perished in a car crash. With the small inheritance he obtained, Clive moved out of his San Myshuno studio to Twin Oracle Point in Newcrest. Although he couldn't find a three bedroom in his price range, he decided to take what was usually the living room in these apartments, as his own room so Kurt and Honey could be as comfortable as possible. He's often found smoking a cigarette and pondering his art pieces, or worrying over all the plants he's taking care of.
Kurt is the average angsty and gloomy 16 y/o. Wherever trouble is found in the neighborhood there's a good chance it started with Kurt. He's the bassist in his friend group's band, The Weepers. He's also the one that found their new bulldog, Turtle, after saving her from an abandoned home.
Honey lives by her name and is the sweetest thing alive. She's a 6 y/o that loves everything to do with fairies. To help her handle the grief of her parents, Clive started to teach her how to draw. This lead to her drawing every second possible. She can often be found going through all her fairy tale books and trying to replicate the pictures in them. Honey's aspiration is to eventually share her own fairy tales with everyone.
