be the main character of your life, stop comparing yourself to others!

every time you compare yourself to another person you lose your power and give it to others.

be aware of your own value

the value you give to others, give to yourself multiplied!

if there is something you don't like about yourself try to change it from compassion and self-love, don't judge yourself for it, we all have the ability to change

recognize that comparing yourself with other people is something negative and prevents you from growing and evolving

you are the main character of your life, no one else, that's why it doesn't matter if you "believe" that someone else is more handsome or smarter than you, it's not, it's you, because it's your life, think about this every time you compare yourself

recognize when these thoughts come to your mind and focus in turn on something positive, something good about your day or something you like about yourself

don't compare chapter 20 of a person with chapter 3 of your life

focus on learning and not comparing yourself

turn comparison into admiration

be aware of the damage you are doing to yourself when you do this

write down everything you like about yourself and everything you would like to have or be

practice self-love every day, treat yourself with love

focus on you and your growth not on what others do

focus on what you like about yourself and not on what you don't-

recognize that you are the main character of your life, the life you are living right now is only lived by you so it doesn't matter how other people are or how they live their life, it doesn't hurt you, focus on you and your growth, you are unique and valuable you don't have to be like anyone else

Be The Main Character Of Your Life, Stop Comparing Yourself To Others!
Be The Main Character Of Your Life, Stop Comparing Yourself To Others!

some ways to practice self-love ( i will write another post on this)

forgive yourself

take care of your physical and mental health

avoid toxic people

connect to your feminine energy and make rest a priority when you need it

use positive affirmations every day

talk to yourself and treat yourself with love

do things that make you proud of you

post that i recommend you if you found this one useful 🤍

my manifestation rules

(you can also make your own and go through them when you feel down)

I made these self concept affs but in rule form so you can affirm authority over your subconcious and it helps build confidence as well as letting your subconcious know that you are the boss!

1. I get whatever I want

2. My manifestions come in a week MAXIMUM! nothing more than that

3. My self concept is perfect

4. Nothing can come in the way of my manifestations. They're mine.

5. Manifesting is the easiest thing to do

6. Breathing gives me my results

7. Whenever I think of what I want, it comes to me immediately

8. I never get doubts, only immediate results

9. I do not chase, I attract. Whatever belongs to me finds me

10. I always get full, visible ideal results no matter what. It was just meant to be that way

Whenever you doubt Byler, remember that Will was planned to be in love with Mike from the start. Remember that Finn and Noah had to take a chemistry test. Remember that Mike has never had moments like that with anyone but Will. Remember every heart to heart Will and Mike have had. Remember the Variety interview. Remember Brett Gelman. Remember Eleven wasn't supposed to come back after season 1. Remember how most of the cast ships Byler. Remember how Byler has way more chemistry than Marijuana. Remember that the Duffers have taken inspiration from many shows with best friends to lovers tropes. Remember that Shawn Levi is for Byler. Remember Finn and Noah are for Byler. Remember the scripts. Remember the Eyewitness parallel. Remember the Byler docs. Remember nobody believing us about Will being gay and calling us delusional when we were right. Remember that Mike and El have nothing in common, and never have normal conversations. Remember the Duffers saying they don't believe in love at first sight. Remember Mosquito breakups being shown as comedic. Remember Byler fights being shown as a serious breakup. Remember Season 2. Remember the final placements in Season 4. Remember the show cares about detail. Remember Megamind is paralled to doomed relationships. Remember that, Byler, Jancy, Jopper, and Lumax are endgame couples, and have been all paralleled to each other at least once. Remember how the four endgames are always standing together. Remember the Duffers calling Mildew puppy love. Remember the cast's reaction to the monologue. Remember the stupid ass monologue in general. Remember Causeineedu. Remember NaturallyBrielle. Remember Millie improvising in almost all Mormon scenes. Remember the duffers mentioning one of their favorite shows growing up was a show where a man fell in love with his best friend who had a gf, and it turned out he shared those feelings. Remember that Mozzarella is paralled to Byler, but Byler is always the better version (You make me feel better for being different/You think I am a monster [] I say it/You didn't have to) and many more. Remember that Byler is absolutely going to be endgame, and they wouldn't build it up for 4 seasons for it to be unreciprocated. The duffers make mistakes, everyone does, but they know what they're doing (they made a hit show) and if you're still doubtful, it isn't just them writing it. Also, we have the music, the sets, the outfits, and camera angles on our side as well. Let MinnieMouse deny it all they want, but Byler is endgame along with Jopper, Jancy and Lumax. We have already won. It's been confirmed many times before, we just have to wait to prove it. And in those to years more proof will come, and we've gotten a lot of it already and it's only been 2 weeks. I know that sounded really stupid, but I see a few people giving up hope that the Duffers can pull this off (including myself at times) and I think despite all the proof we have we all need to hear this, especially with the Malaria shippers flooding everyone's inboxes lmfao. Anyways have and anazing day/night Byler nation. I am done with my rant.

something that annoys me is when media reviewers or theorists review stranger things and talk around Byler like it’s the plague. it’s either mentioned super briefly (as if it’s not an important plot point when it literally is) or they pretend those scenes are something else (will being insecure, lonely, traumatised ect). it’s honestly worrying how people dedicated to analysing shows are so quick to diminish and ignore queer plot points, especially when those plot points are vital to the characters and story. it’s dishonest journalism in service of heteronormative mind frames. they’re either too ignorant to acknowledge queer characters or they’re too scared to potentially upset homophobic film bros and make themselves look ‘invalid’ for ‘making everything gay’. queer stories and queer theories are just as valid as the rest. im tired of being called delusional for wanting equal representation and respect.

Creating a New Species

Creating A New Species

Hey everyone, Abby here with another writing post! Today we’re talking about new species and how to create them in your writing.

In many fantasy and sci-fi books, you’ll hear about different species, be them humanoid or not. Often it can be hard for the average writer to create something as complex as a new species, but with a little extra effort they can really add an extra element to your story.

What is it reminiscent of?

Do you remember, back in your first biology class, learning about taxonomic ranks? (In case you forgot: domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species.) The species is the most specific classification for a living thing, but it helps to know a bit of the other stuff surrounding it as well.

For example, let’s say I create the Lunax species. I can describe it all I want, but it helps me as an author get a clearer mental image if I say it’s in the same genus as a tiger or something like that. You can take your species and relate it to other, already-existing species to help yourself develop and create.

What characteristics or defining features does it have?

This goes far beyond appearance, even though appearance on its own could probably create a whole separate post. Here are some questions on characteristics to help you get started:

Is it nocturnal?

Herbivore, carnivore, omnivore?

Can it climb, fly, swim?

How fast can it move?

How fine-tuned are its senses, and which is the strongest?

Which temperatures or biomes is it found in, and why?

How long does it sleep for?

Does it have any predators?

Of course, there are so many more questions you can ask to get that development rolling, but you’ll want to have a good idea of what really defines this species as you go along.

Population Size

This is something you may also want to consider: what causes an increase and decrease in population.

For this you’ll want to look at things like the mating process, gestation, youth development, etc. - things that go into the life cycle of the species. Like anything else, the knowledge you have here doesn’t have to be super in-depth, but it would certainly help to at least have a general idea.

What helps the population flourish, and what hurts it? How available is their specific habitat, and is that level growing, shrinking, or remaining level? What factors in the world could change the growth rate of the population? Is this species rare enough to be considered endangered by our standards?

-

There’s… a lot that goes into creating a species, so this guide isn’t at all meant to be comprehensive. It’s all up to you as an author, these are just some bases to help you get started!

If this post helped you out, please consider buying me a coffee over on ko-fi!

Fantasy Guide to Building A Culture

Fantasy Guide To Building A Culture

Culture is defined by a collection of morals, ethics, traditions, customs and behaviours shared by a group of people.

Hierarchy and Social Structures

Fantasy Guide To Building A Culture

Within every culture, there is a hierarchy. Hierarchies are an important part of any culture, usually do ingrained that one within the culture wouldn't even question it. Hierarchy can be established either by age, gender or wealth and could even determine roles within their society. Sometimes hierarchy can may be oppressive and rigid whilst other times, ranks can intermingle without trouble. You should consider how these different ranks interact with one another and whether there are any special gestures or acts of deference one must pay to those higher than them. For example, the Khasi people of Meghalaya (Northern India), are strictly matriarchal. Women run the households, inheritance runs through the female line, and the men of the culture typically defer to their mothers and wives. Here are a few questions to consider:

How is a leader determined within the culture as a whole and the family unit?

Is the culture matriarchal? Patriarchal? Or does gender even matter?

How would one recognise the different ranks?

How would one act around somebody higher ranking? How would somebody he expected to act around somebody lower ranking?

Can one move socially? If not, why? If so, how?

Traditions and Customs

Fantasy Guide To Building A Culture

Traditions are a staple in any culture. These can be gestures or living life a certain way or to the way a certain person should look. Traditions are a personal detail to culture, they are what make it important. Tradition can dictate how one should keep their home, run their family, take care of their appearance, act in public and even determine relationship. Tradition can also be a double edged sword. Traditions can also be restrictive and allow a culture to push away a former member if they do not adhere to them, eg Traditional expectations of chastity led to thousands of Irish women being imprisoned at the Magdelene Laundries. Customs could be anything from how one treats another, to how they greet someone.

How important is tradition?

What are some rituals your culture undertakes?

What are some traditional values in your world? Does it effect daily life?

Are there any traditions that determine one's status?

Values and Opinions

Fantasy Guide To Building A Culture

Values and Opinions are the bread and butter of any culture. This is the way your culture sees the world and how they approach different life hurdles. These may differ with other cultures and be considered odd to outsiders, what one culture may value another may not and what opinion another holds, one may not. There will be historical and traditional reasons to why these values and opinions are held. Cultures usually have a paragon to which they hold their members to, a list of characteristics that they expect one to if not adhere to then aspire to. The Yoruba people value honesty, hard work, courage and integrity. Here are some questions to consider?

How important are these ethics and core values? Could somebody be ostracised for not living up to them?

What are some morals that clash with other cultures?

What does your culture precieved to be right? Or wrong?

What are some opinions that are considered to be taboo in your culture? Why?

Dress Code

Fantasy Guide To Building A Culture

For many cultures, the way somebody dresses can be important. History and ethics can effect how one is meant to be dressed such as an expectation of chastity, can impose strict modesty. While other cultures, put more importance on details, the different sorts of clothes worn and when or what colour one might wear. The Palestinian people (من النهر إلى البحر ، قد يكونون أحرارا) denoted different family ties, marriage status and wealth by the embroidery and detailing on their thoub.

Are there traditional clothes for your world? Are they something somebody wears on a daily basis or just on occasion?

Are there any rules around what people can wear?

What would be considered formal dress? Casual dress?

What would happen if somebody wore the wrong clothes to an event?

Language

Fantasy Guide To Building A Culture

Language can also be ingrained as part of a Culture. It can be a specific way one speaks or a an entirely different language. For example, in the Southern States of America, one can engage in a sort of double talk, saying something that sounds sweet whilst delivering something pointed. Bless their heart. I have a post on creating your own language here.

Arts, Music and Craft

Fantasy Guide To Building A Culture

Many cultures are known for different styles of dance, their artwork and crafts. Art is a great part of culture, a way for people to express themselves and their culture in art form. Dance can be an integral part of culture, such as céilí dance in Ireland or the Polka in the Czech Republic. Handicrafts could also be important in culture, such as knitting in Scottish culture and Hebron glass in Palestine. Music is also close to culture, from traditional kinds of singing such as the White Voice in Ukraine and the playing of certain instruments such as the mvet.

Food and Diet

Fantasy Guide To Building A Culture

The way a culture prepares or intakes or treats certain foods are important to a culture. In some cultures, there is a diet yo adhere to, certain foods are completely banned. With Jewish culture, pork is prohibited along with fish such as sturgeon, along with shellfish and certain fowl. Meat must also be prepared in a certain way and animal byproducts such as dairy, must never be created or even eaten around this meat. This is known as kosher. The way one consumes food is also important to culture. In some cultures, only certain people may eat together. Some cultures place important on how food is eaten. In Nigerian culture, the oldest guests are served first usually the men before the women. In Japanese culture, one must say 'itadakimasu' (I recieve) before eating. Culture may also include fasting, periods of time one doesn't intake food for a specific reason.

What are some traditional dishes in your world?

What would be a basic diet for the common man?

What's considered a delicacy?

Is there a societal difference in diet? What are the factors that effect diet between classes?

Is there any influence from other cuisines? If not, why not? If so, to what extent?

What would a typical breakfast contain?

What meals are served during the day?

What's considered a comfort food or drink?

Are there any restrictions on who can eat what or when?

Are there any banned foods?

What stance does your world take on alcohol? Is it legal? Can anybody consume it?

Are there any dining customs? Are traditions?

Is there a difference in formal meals or casual meals? If so, what's involved?

Are there any gestures or actions unacceptable at the dinner table?

How are guests treated at meals? If they are given deference, how so?
