So was anyone going to tell me that David Dastmalchian has vitiligo and got called "polka dots" as a kid or was I just supposed to randomly find that out through twitter?
I really like that one vampire man from type o negative.
"About the accident, twenty-six of us survived, as for me, my only injury was a sprained ankle, but now I’m fine. If God helps us, I hope we make it to Montevideo to celebrate our birthdays, something you have almost always fulfilled. Dear dad, I’m sending you millions of hugs and kisses. If you do not see me alive, you will see me in Heaven next to God. A big kiss from Carlitos Miguel, who always loves you.” - an excerpt of a letter written by Carlitos Páez and addressed to his father, Carlos Páez Vilaró, on the 23rd of October, 1972.
Today would have been Susana Parrado's 72nd birthday.
Susana was 20 years old when she boarded Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 with her older brother, Nando, and her mother, Eugenia. Eugenia was killed in the initial crash, but Susana survived despite severe internal injuries. Despite her devastating prognosis and the lack of any real medical care, she lived for 8 days after the crash.
The team captain, Marcelo Pérez, set aside rations of chocolate and creme de menthe for her from the group's extremely limited food stores. As soon as her brother, Nando, awoke from his 3 day coma, he dedicated himself to Susy's care, holding her to keep her warm, feeding her, rubbing her feet to keep her circulation and talking to her.
Susana lived for 8 days after the crash, dying on the 21st of October in the arms of her brother.
The happiest of heavenly birthdays, Susana 💛💛💛
