Honestly? No idea. I don't think like that. I don't (usually) have a scene, a specific character, or even a theme when I start a story. I have the seed of an idea and just write. Thanks for the ask.

Writing Update 5/22/2025

I am continuing to work on Every Hero Needs a Villain and I am super happy to announce that I'm actually making great progress when it comes to both hero and villain descriptions. Each category has six, with each hero having a villain and vice versa. I hope I've gotten a good spattering of personalities for people to enjoy this way.

Here's a snippet from Straight Shooter's, a cowboy object head:

He can inspire a state of restfulness depending on the color of his scarf. Red is for physical restfulness, purple is mental restfulness, blue is emotional restfulness, green is spiritual restfulness, yellow is instinct restfulness, and sometimes he has a rare rainbow of all these colors. Yet, to do so, he too must also achieve this restfulness for himself.

Writing update 5/8/2025

It's time for another writing update. Still working on Every Hero Needs a Villain, my object head project. I'm making my way through the character bios. I am trying to just get the basics down, then I'll go over them again and add more personality. Here's Spark's description, because I thought it was cute:

They have a gently yellow and ruffled lamp shade with a lighter and brighter light bulb on their head. They typically wear a skirt that matches paired with a lighter blouse or suit top. Their clothes typically having a shimmering or glittery component to them. They sometimes wear different lamp shades for different effects, having a particular fondness for colorful glass lamp shades for special events, or cloth dotted lamp shades when they're feeling cute. Sometimes they don't even wear a lamp shade for emphasis.

I definitely want to edit it for readability, but so far so good! I hope to have all the bios down by the end of the week, and will notify y'all on Sunday if this is the case.

I’m Carter (she/him) and I’m a 20 year old Black lesbian. Writing has been my passion and favorite hobby for as long as I can remember, but when I’m not writing I’m out following my second passion in college (environmental science). I have two main wips that I work on from time to time:

The Taste of Hallowed Earth (formerly All That Remains)

Twelve years ago, Sadie Copeland’s older sister, Leila, vanished from their hometown in Salvation, Mississippi and her family was never the same again. Sadie’s mother packed their things, driving until Salvation disappeared in the rearview mirror and the whole thing was nothing but a nightmare. But no matter how far they drove or how much time passed, Sadie had never been able to shake the feeling that there’s more to the story than what her mother let on. 

Following the death of her mother, nineteen year old Sadie finds herself back in Salvation, the place where it all began. Upon arriving there, it is clear that something sinister is going on—something that no one wants to talk about and that everyone hides from when the sun goes down. And while Sadie has never believed in ghost stories (at least, not in the spectral sense), she can’t help but fear what may be lurking in the darkness that surrounds Salvation.

In the Heart of the Ocean

In the Heart of the Ocean follows Carolina “Caro” Bell as she recounts the disappearance of her best friend Moira from their quiet coastal town as teenagers, and Moira’s subsequent reappearance three years later after emerging from the depths of the ocean with no memory of where she’d been—only to disappear forever the following year. When Caro’s niece, who she has temporary custody of, nearly drowns in that same sea twenty years later, Caro decides to finally explore the secrets contained in its dark and murky depths. But in order to do so, she must first confront the past and the truth surrounding Moira’s disappearance. 

Themes: literary fiction, queerness, magical realism, female rage

You know, while I'm on the subject, I think a really fascinating thing about Infernal Serenade is knowledge of the soul, accuracy wise, is basically in reverse to what you'd respect. An old scholar has more accurate information on souls than any modern spiritual or religious beliefs about the soul, because there was no societal pressure to come to one conclusion, nor would it be quickly dismissed like that type of thought often is in modern times.

None so far, but I do plan on having some squirrels shown in a future chapter with cybernetic implants!

Lumoria - Nation of Light

General Overview

Lumoria is a society based heavily on intellectualism which thrives on reason and research, many of which are interested in the studying magic or magical studies. Lumoria believes in the power of research and study, ignoring their military and artillery. Lumoria retains strong relations with other nations and makes its large sum of the wealth from trade and selling inventions. Lumoria has the highest amount of magical technological advancement and often share their advancements for a hefty price tag.

Government System

Lumoria is run by a council made up of the 4 core research principles, titled the "4 Pillars" these are :

Imagitrix - Humanities & Literature

Lumina - Magic & Alchemy

Illumidemic - Mechanics & Arithmetic

Glivant - Politics & Economics

The council is made up of the respected higher ranks of the 4 Pillars and members voted in by the public.

This system has been in place for around 200 years making it fairly recent. Before the 4 Pillars Lumoria was once ruled over by a monarchy. Due to growing tensions between the citizens of Lumoria and the royal family, the royal family were over thrown in favour for the 4 Pillars and the council.

Due to this fact, any building referring to royalty or the old royal family, now refer to the status and ability of the researcher or scholar. Lumoria now use royalty to refer to those who achieve a high distinction of intelligence. For example, the Royal institute of Magic and Alchemic studies is a highly regarded institution which is extremely hard to get into for work and study, People who go there may be seen as "intellectual royalty" and are viewed with great respect.

Many scholars argue, that putting these people on a pedestal and treating them like "royalty" is no better then what was done with the actual royal family over 2 centuries ago.

Many citizens of Lumoria do not follow any sort of God or deity, a large population, however, do follow 'Mi' and the late* God of order 'Null'.

*The death of Null is a highly debated topic within historical institutions as no historical evidence from the time period specifically states Null's demise mere stating that Null just stopped appearing, historians believe that Null just not appearing anymore is a primitive way of indicating Null's death. While many historians believe that Null, dissatisfied with his people, had abandoned them and is now waiting for the time when is people will become "ideal" and then he shall appear himself to them.
