Thought I would try to signal boost for this small village. The library in the village of Prescott, Michigan was lost in a fire last month. While the building was insured, they need donations to keep summer programs running and other temporary needs. They still need supplies, including storage and craft supplies for the kids!
Donate on their website ● Amazon wishlist ● Updates on FB ● News article
Please reblog to boost! I know book lovers here understand how important libraries are.
Can we make this post do numbers? 💥
writers are creatures that feed on comments by the way. if you want more of your blorbo from them, give them lovely comments. they love that and will most likely give you more fics about your blorbo
I love dandelions!

I am continuing to work on Every Hero Needs a Villain and I am super happy to announce that I'm actually making great progress when it comes to both hero and villain descriptions. Each category has six, with each hero having a villain and vice versa. I hope I've gotten a good spattering of personalities for people to enjoy this way.
Here's a snippet from Straight Shooter's, a cowboy object head:
He can inspire a state of restfulness depending on the color of his scarf. Red is for physical restfulness, purple is mental restfulness, blue is emotional restfulness, green is spiritual restfulness, yellow is instinct restfulness, and sometimes he has a rare rainbow of all these colors. Yet, to do so, he too must also achieve this restfulness for himself.

I am continuing to write Sleep Laughing slowly but surely. I'm getting caught up in making the logs detailed, and trying to get myself to realize, "you need to write the skeleton of this idea before you can go into the depths of this character's suffering". And also, during the first logs he's so weak/in so much pain he's barely concious or thinking straight, so it makes sense why they're not as detailed.
Still, I managed to get extremely good progress for logs 7 and 8. Here's my favorite snippet (tw body horror and agony):
I've come to a conclusion. Even if I am in Hell, it really isn't such a bad thing. It just means I'm being punished, and, if I'm being punished, that means there's a chance to redeem myself, right? Every single agony I experience is a debt being paid, a sin washed away. This pain isn't a curse. No… …this pain is a blessing! It's giving me a chance to repent for everything. Oh God I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I'll never do it again. So please, just let the light take me!
Also, I am looking for beta readers for my stories The Diary of Spinel Bramford and The Breeding Grounds. You can find their descriptions here. If that'd interest you, please let me know!

Hi peeps! As I work on Every Hero Needs a Villain, do y'all want me to make the community for it so you can see some funny behind the scenes stuff and potentially certain bios as I make them? You can also make suggestions for stuff there if you want. Trying to encourage myself to complete them.

On the subject of non AI resources, I assure you that if you make it clear you will actually support non AI versions of something, people will make it. People often want to put in the time and energy to make these resources, they're just hesitant to because they fear no one will use them. Do not get me started on how many character blogs there are out there for popular characters that get no asks or interactions whatsoever, because people would rather use character.ai.
"I have social anxiety", I get it, I really do. And yes, a part of keeping these none AI resources alive is you have to stop being a lurker and actually interact with them. It can be scary, but I assure you it is worth it to let the people who create these resources shine.
"Hear ye'! Hear ye'! A number of flawed individuals possess tools with dangerous power - and mysterious, godlike beings want to erase them for it. Is it because those beings sense corpses in these individuals' stead?" (A pitch for ya', dear folks).
I thought a community would be a good spot to have all stuff related to B\T (WIPs) in one place.
As to not scroll and scroll after it. Also, the Masterpost only has relevant stuff on it, not everything related to these WIPs. Unlike there.
You can learn more about B\T there or in here:
I love him already.
Hey there! 💌 Just swinging by to wish you a gentle, creative day. I hope these questions help you get back to it. :)
Here are your character-building questions, tailored to the emoji(s) you picked:
🗝️: How does your OC react when someone challenges their authority or beliefs in public?
🧠: What does your OC fear about themselves that they rarely, if ever, admit?
✨: What’s something your OC is surprisingly good at that has nothing to do with their main role in the story?
No pressure to answer quickly. Take your time and have fun with it.
Hello and thank you!
I'm gonna go with Henrik from Thief and Guard for these questions, since he's such an important character but has no pov.
🗝️Well you see he has a big glowing halberd. He will use it. He'll at least threaten to use it. ...okay most likely he'll fold his arms and look Big and Imposing until the other party is scared.
🧠He's honestly afraid he's never going to feel like he fits anywhere. He came from across the rift, got really good at fighting monsters, oh but he was too good and got reassigned so many times. Now he's aimless. He can't go home. If he did, he wouldn't fit there, either. He has no home where he is. He convinces himself that's what he wants.
✨knitting! Idk if that counts cause it does play a role in the story. He's a good cook when he has the time and ingredients
Thank you so much for the ask!
For real. And the amount you should show versus tell will also heavily rely on the type of story you're telling and the style in which you approach it.
Someone once told me if you learn to properly show AND tell, my writing would improve dramatically and I could do it without thought. At the time, I thought they were full of shit. That it would be a struggle for the rest of my days. Lo and behold, they were correct. It does become easier.
Also, remember showing EVERYTHING is not needed. There are millions of reasons to tell something in a story. Don't let the internet convince you that you need to show everything. Even the greatest writers in history didn't show all the time.
