i want to protect every young girl in the world being wrongly sexualized and forced to grow up way too fast

Growing up fat, you get made fun of for everything you do, even basic shit like eating and laughing and breathing are funny when you do it because youre fat! And its so hard to not carry that with you as you get older, like I’m still embarassed to eat or dance in front of people or smile in pictures and its ridiculous and I hate it and I wish I was treated with more humanity

How to Make Your Own Study Guide

This is a post on how to make your own study guide if your teacher hasn’t given you one. I will break this up into subjects for when the study guide will differ.

Maths

1. Gather all of your class notes from the sections that you will be quizzed/tested on.

2. Get a blank sheet of paper and write down all of the problems (WITHOUT the answers) and the type of problem it is and the section it belongs to. So On the First line write “Math Exam 2: Sections 3.2-4.5. Then below that on the second line, write down 7/8 - 4/9 and out beside it write section 3.2: adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators.

3. Work these problems and then check your answers against the answers you wrote down when they were worked in class. Try to see what mistake you made or what part of the problem you got stuck on. Realizing the mistake will remind you to not make it in the future. Work the problems until you can get the right answers on the first try. Sometimes I work my study guides three times all the way through if that’s what it takes.

Sciences

1. Gather all of your class notes from the sections that will be covered on the test. From these notes (or if your teacher already gives this to you), write down the major topics of each section. For example: Section 3.5: history of the periodic table, periodic law, periodic trends

2. On a blank sheet of paper, write the heading as “Science Exam 3: Chapters 3-5. Start by writing the chapter in the margins, and then listing the major topics that you found in step one on the line beside it.

3. Go through your notes, writing down definitions, examples, and important things to remember Ex. Periodic law: properties of elements are predictable based on their groups. Mendeleev and Meyer first grouped elements according to properties of the elements. It is crucial that you’re putting everything in your own words while still transmitting the meaning from the notes. Putting things in your own words makes it easier for you to recall the information during a test.

4. Have a section of your study guide labeled miscellaneous. In this section put things that didn’t fit in other sections or put reminders for what you have struggles with in that chapter. You can even put things in this section that you use to help you remember things from the chapter. Also put reminders to work math problems out. Ex. When finding the electron configuration of ions, electrons are removed from the previous s sublevel and then from the d sublevel as needed. Practice nomenclature, review names of polyatomic ions, practice calculating formula mass and percent composition. For the stoichiometry and other math-related parts of science, see above.

History

1. Gather class notes from the sections that will be covered on the test.

2. Make a timeline of the time covered in the sections. Ex. Civil War Era Through Reconstruction. Only include dates and a teeny summary of what happened. Ex. 1860-Lincoln elected President

3. As you’re making your timeline, on a separate sheet of paper, write the date, what happened, who was involved, and cause and effects if your class focuses on that. Ex. 1860-Abraham Lincoln was elected president, beating out John C. Breckinridge, Stephen A. Douglas, and John Bell. Lincoln’s election can be listed as one of the preliminary causes for the outbreak of the Civil War, seeing as Lincoln supported the freedom of the slaves and later wrote the Emancipation Proclamation

4. Study your timeline and big summaries at first, but as you get closer to test day, start limiting yourself to your timeline and try to lower the number of times you have to look at your summary. Eventually you should be able to look at your timeline with the date and teeny summary and describe what you have listed in your big summary from memory. If you can do this, you’ve learned your material.

English

I’m going to forewarn everyone, I tested out of all of my college English classes so I’m unsure of what the classes focus on for their tests, so I’m going to describe what I did when studying for my AP English in class tests in high school (not the actual AP Exam).

1. Gather class notes for the sections that will be covered on the test.

2. For any definitions, make a Quizlet and review until you know the definitions. On the cards, also provide yourself with an example from either a book that has been read in class or it can be one you found on Google as long as you understand it. If you’re unsure, ask your teacher for an example, but not a day before the test. It’s too late then and they teacher may even refuse.

3. If your test will be over a book, poem, play, etc. make sure you’ve done the reading, or in the least, looked at the Sparknotes over it. Write down the major characters, their roles in the reading, their personality, and their relations to other characters. Take note of the setting (this includes date AND location) of the reading. Ex. Othello-Venice and Cyprus, late 1500s. Othello-main character, tragic hero, tragic flaw is jealousy, easily manipulated by Iago to turn against his wife Desdemona, review the five sins of the moor.

I hope this helps anyone who is transitioning from high school and the world of teacher given study guides to college, the land of pain where study guides are few and very very far between! Send me an ask or a message if I’ve forgotten something, if you have tips you think I should add, or if you want me to make a study guide post for a subject not listed here.

As someone who changed his name just for fun when I thought I was still cis, i promise most people are ok with accepting a new name, even if you lie and say it’s a nickname. I promise. It’s really easy to just casually go “hey I wanna go by Bob now, it’s an old nickname I wanna bring back” like. Just start introducing yourself to new ppl, no one knows better. and if someone accidentally deadnames you just go haha no I go by my nickname now.

It sucks that ppl treat nicknames as more sacred than trans ppls choice names but still.

I love this

I know a really young Billy Batson is cute and all that, but let’s take a moment to imagine college Billy.

- Billy studying in the Watch Tower because a couple of kids were playing the penis game in the campus library, and he thought he could stop it by winning, but instead he just got himself kicked out for a week

-Billy finding random places to sleep on the Watch Tower because he doesn’t get enough sleep and his roommate keeps commandeering the room for sexy time

- the JL having a meeting and suddenly hearing an phone alarm go off then a thump from under the meeting table and then a string of curses

- Billy stealing toilet paper and other such products from the Watch Tower because he’s doesn’t have cash and this stuff’s two-ply

- Batman letting Billy steal essentials from the Tower, but will draw the line at furniture

- Billy eating most of his meals on the Tower because the school’s meal plan sucks and compared to what his college serves this stuff’s practically a five stare, gourmet meal

- Everyone becoming alarmed when Billy openly cries while eating a double bacon cheese burger

- Billy building a study fort out of cushions on the Tower with a “Do Not Disturb” sign taped on it

- Billy calling a League member because he got drunk at a party and his ride left without him and “look Hal I called you because you’re the only one that wouldn’t lecture me and WOULD YOU STOP LAUGHING I’M TRYING TO BE RESPONSIBLE HERE YOU ASS!!!!”

- League members who went to college silently slipping Billy cups of coffee at random times throughout the day out of sympathy

- BILLY DURING FINALS WEEK

- Billy using League resources for his thesis because Billy want’s to stick it to tHE ONE TEACHER THAT SAID THEY DON’T GIVE A’S

- Billy using his powers to get the books he needs for his midterm research paper because fuck if he’s gonna wait a week for it to be loaned out to his school’s library

- Shazam turning back into Billy on the Tower in only his boxers and clutching a pillow and passing out on the ground because he literally had no sleep for three days and he got the call just has he got into bed

- Arthur asking Billy what he’s working on and Billy jokingly says his paper on the discovery of Atlantis and asks if he has contact with Dr. Shin and Arthur not finding it amusing at all.

- Diana wanting to help Billy with his mythology class and Billy trying to calm her down when she starts arguing with what’s in the books

- Billy pulling pranks on underclassmen with the help of the entire Flash Fam

- Superman giving Billy rolls of quarters for laundry because “Look son, I don’t know who told you this, but you can’t just wear the same shirt five days in a row- … What do you mean they’re all different? What do you mean it was a bargain deal????”

- Lois Lane taking Billy clothes shopping because there is no way Clark is helping Billy pick out clothes “Because he’ll look like a plaid infested redneck that’s why, Clark.”

- Cyborg helping Billy hack into the school’s website and updating it because lets face it, that site was a wreck and the email system needed to be worked on

- Billy having the longest Emergency Contact list in the school’s history

- Billy arguing with the RA because no he didn’t punch a whole through the dorm room wall, how could he? It’s not like he’s secretly a superhero who can’t use the Wisdom of Solomon to solve a complicated math problem because Martian Manhunter told him that would be cheating and he certainly didn’t take out his frustration on the wall……….

- Billy trying to find a private place in order to Shazam but can’t because everyone is up aT THREE IN THE MORNING!!!

- Billy in college

Why you shouldn’t donate to Trans Lifeline

image

Ever since the Presidential Election results came in, there’s been post after post of people spreading around the phone number for a supposed suicide hotline for trans people, called Trans Lifeline.

What people don’t know is that this “hotline” is a huge scam meant to fund the founders’ personal lives, and that the hotline barely answers their calls, if ever.

A twitter was made a while back to cover the small, almost nonexistent amount of operators on the line, but it is now inoperable because the founders found out and shut down the source of the twitter bot’s information, because how dare someone provide the truth.

The founder, who is also trans, frequently posts pictures of her weapons, and even showed up at someone’s house because she didn’t agree with what they had to say about her hotline and her “friends”, then proceeded to make vague physical threats at them on FB. As a mentally ill person, she seems unfit to be handling such a lifeline that barely answers their calls in the first place.

She also spends the organization’s money frivolously, going from one state to the next for who knows what.

Here’s their 2015 annual report.

And here’s a claim that 6,000 hours of volunteer work equals up to $197,000. This is incredibly inflated.

THEY ARE ALSO NOT ACCREDITED BY THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF SUICIDOLOGY AND REFUSE TO CALL MEDICAL PERSONNEL IN THE EVENT OF A SUICIDE IN PROGRESS. THIS MEANS THEY WILL NOT CALL 911 IF SOMEONE ON THE LINE IS FUCKING DYING.

Only about 19% of incoming calls were being answered. This is a suicide prevention non-profit where they are only answering less than 19% of calls as of December of last year. When someone does get through, according to this report, they are talking to someone who has only received TWO FUCKING HOURS OF TRAINING.

They train people for two hours, only answer 19% of calls and when that 19% do get through, the policy does not follow the AAS crisis standard with regard to emergency personnel.

Here is a link to their IRS exempt form.

The 2015 submission indicates income of $129,922 and total assets of $22,255 so their income was about 47% more than budgeted. The 2016 budget is far more interesting given they are expecting $200,000 worth of grants. The travel bill is also surprising for a non profit, I realise there is a need to engage potential donors but there comes a point where the figure is just ridiculous and it would appear that that point is about a third of that budgeted total. I see the director of operations “in kind” contributions have been reduced from $80,000 to receiving an actual salary of $28,800 and she is bringing in a personal assistant for herself.

There could be a fucking body count and nobody would know.

I have a friend who called them once, had her call dropped 4 times, only to get a really bored-sounding operator on the other end, then she was yelled at BY THE OPERATOR for using the term ‘dude’. SHE WAS SUICIDAL AT THE TIME. YOU DO NOT YELL AT SUICIDAL PEOPLE:

On a final note, they are perpetuating the lie that 8 trans people died on the night of the election results.

At the Trans Lifeline we were devastated to hear that eight people — many of whom were teens — died by suicide last night after election results announced that Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States. We are reaching out to the families to offer support and condolences. Trans people are among many people who are mourning today. We know that communities of color, muslims, immigrants, and many other groups are feeling the betrayal, sadness, and fear that comes with living in a country where a majority of people voted for a leader who hates you. It is personal. It is tragic. But it is not the end. Trans Lifeline has received over 350 calls from trans people in crisis, including many suicidal people. Our trans-identified operators are working hard to offer support, guidance, and hope through this difficult time. We’ve answered a staggering 115 calls in 24 hours, demonstrating that we are here for each other. It may feel right now as though hate won out, but we know that love is more powerful. Even though many in the trans community are giving everything they have to support each other, we have a long way to go to meet the need of trans people in crisis. We need to hire additional staff to train, support, and lead our volunteers. If we can raise 100K this month, then we can hire three full-time staff people to do this life-saving work. Please give now if you can. If you are trans, we say to you — Keep fighting. We love you. If you are not trans, we say to you — Stand with us. We love you too, and we need you to show up for us. We need staunch allies, real confidants, supportive lovers, close friends, affirming faith leaders, and compassionate strangers. We need to support one another now more than ever. Remember, together we save lives!

Save your time (and your life) and call the national suicide hotline at 1-800-273-8255.

You can also call the Trevor Project at 1-866-488-7386, and their donation information is here.

Protect trans lives. Don’t fall for a scam that exploits potentially suicidal trans teenagers and young adults. Give to actual charities and hotlines.

The gifset going around about Tom Holland is fake.

He never said he had a partner with they/them pronouns, and it was captioned because it was a fan request from a Tom Holland fanblog.

Furthermore, doing this to your faves makes them look bad if misinformation spreads around. Celebrities aren’t your goddamn plaything, and they lead real lives. They aren’t just a fucking character. It’s disrespectful.
