He's built a person and knows that one inside and out. he doesn't know the man Stanley actually is, he is unable to account for human will. he has his own human body. it is as detailed, if not moreso, than the one made for Stanley. it is still just another part he is putting on, and because he knows that, it creates a disconnect. it feels more real to him than his natural, inhuman form. it is his body. he wants to be seen, to have his work recognized and praised. he has never once actually managed to show his own body to anyone.
