Me being curious and doing a dumb survey here.
I want to see what kind of age range a fandom around ‘New Adult’ sits in. The books are often put in the YA section, but there’s smut in them, and we all know the fandom LOVES chapter 55. This is kind of for relevant data for the ‘Is Sex in YA OKAY?’ debate.
Spreadsheet with results (being updated whenever I can) can be viewed here for those who are interested. Feel free to use this data for whatever fandom Meta/discussion you like.
I hate the pressure of having a certain image curated to perfection. Why can’t we all be multidimensional as it’s true to our character, why does our likes have to be tailored to gain approval?
Basically: I can like literature and academia as well as watching trash tv like love island get off my dick
What does it say about me that I use all three
"fuck it we ball" is for stress about the future "it is what it is" is for stress about the past and "this too shall pass" is for stress about the present thank you for coming to my TED talk
Ok so I’ve gotten a couple asks/ messages about why I still hate Rhys and I mean there are so many reasons...most of which are the same as before ACOSF since his character didn’t change but is just now also someone who hides life altering pregnancy news from a pregnant woman???
But even beyond all of that- a big reason why I’m still an anti is that scene where he warns Nesta to be nice to Gwyn and Cassian calls out a MASSIVE truth- that Rhysand refuses to believe even one decent thing about Nesta. Which is unfair to Nesta, but also made me realize how much more difficult all of this is made for Cassian, and how unfair Rhys’ attitude is to Cassian who never ONCE questioned Feyre.
Why would he have questioned Feyre you ask? Idk how about the fact that when she first came to the Night Court Feyre:
Hated Rhysand
Was only there for a bargain
Was literally about to marry another High Lord
Refused the job that Rhysand offered her in the night court
Didn’t want to stay in the night court
Asks to be taken back to the spring court
And still everyone in the IC is obviously so nice to her because-among other things- she’s Rhysand’s mate and they trust him even if there’s a chance she is a literal actual spy or traitor.
Please now compare that to the scene where Cassian literally tells Rhys to fuck off because he REFUSES TO BELIEVE EVEN ONE DECENT THING ABOUT NESTA.
A woman who:
Has no loyalties outside of the Night Court
Risked her position in the mortal world for the Night Court
Was turned into a Fae for the night court
Trained to repair the wall for the night court
Fought in the war for the night court
SAVED CASSIAN (Rhys’ so called “brother”)’S LIFE
KILLED THE KING OF HYBERN
Still went to the post war strategy meetings
At this point in the book had also already agreed to scry for the Dread Trove even though it’s traumatic as fuck for her FOR THE NIGHT COURT
AND THIS BITCH ASS RICE CAKE CANNOT THINK ONE SINGLE DECENT THING ABOUT HER.
No one even said trust. No one said like.
LITERALLY GIVE HER THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT ONE TIME YOU SELF RIGHTEOUS P R I C K
I will NEVER forgive Rhysand for this, tbh. He only forgave Nesta for her great crimes of *checks notes* not hunting at 15 and then being traumatized after a war... when she saved him, Feyre, and Nyx. Someone who has done as much as Nesta has and suffered as much as she has, despite other failings, should not have to STOP TIME AND SPACE AND SAVE THREE LIVES IN ORDER TO GAIN THE FORGIVENESS OF ONE STUPID STAR BLINKING PRICK.
As an addendum I’ll say- I get that Nesta isn’t perfect. She was mean and has addiction issues that needed to be addressed but you know what those things are super common for? VETERAN PTSD. This world CANNOT go on and on about mental health while literally refusing to allow a main male protagonist to forgive a war veteran unless they save everyone just because they “aren’t nice”
I’m using the screenshot because I want to respect the tagging etiquette (unlike the majority of this fandom apparently).
Yes, I do not like Fey/sand.
Reasons:
I dislike both R and F. I find them very annoying, self-absorbed, overpowered and overrated characters. I think it is normal that if you don’t like the characters, you won’t like the pairing that consists of them.
I think that R’s actions towards F during the first book are disgusting and inexcusable. I can’t believe the narrative AND the fandom forgave him as soon as he said that he did what he did for her own good and because he loved her.
Their whole relationship is built upon Tam’s character assassination. S/jm had to make him into some abusive monster in order to make R seem better. Unpopular opinion, perhaps, but I think whatever Tam did, what R did was 100 worse.
They always support each other even if the other deserves to be called out. For example, when F invaded Luci/en’s mind just because she could.
They are portrayed as the most perfect people fairies in the world and the flaws they actually have are constantly being excused and brushed off.
I’m sick of F repeating the mantra “My choice. He gave me the choice. He wants to make sure that I know I will always have a choice with him” or “My mate, who sacrificed so much and blah blah blah”. She stopped being a character with her own agenda and personality, and became R and his dick’s worshipper.
Their sex scenes are cringy af and too long.
I hate them for mistreating Luci/en. My boy deserves happiness.
I will never forgive them (especially R) for treating Ne/sta (I can’t believe I write her name like that) the way they did.
There are probably more reasons for my dislike towards them, but this will do.
I apologize for any mistakes.
well written badass heroines and incredibly attractive complex villains/anti-heroes that slowly go from enemies to friends to in love are my aesthetic tbh
