If you see this you’re legally obligated to reblog and tag with the book you’re currently reading

Another year has passed with you being completely unable to finish those darn WIPs in your folder. Fear not! 'Finish that Fic, Merlin!' is once again here to w(h)ip your arse into shape so you can finally clear your conscience! (and you WIP-folder)
The fest will run from November 1st 2024 till March 31st 2025!
If you've never heard of 'Finish that Fic, Merlin!' before, the short answer is that it is, like the same suggests, a fest to help you finish your WIPS. All those fics you've started but for whatever reason never finished. Maybe life got in the way, maybe you just didn't have the motivation, and without a deadline, it's easier to just do other things instead. Well, now's the time to sign up for this fest, so you can finally finish!
Before you sign up, however, please be sure to read 'How This Fest Works' and the 'FAQs' for the long answer on what 'Finish that Fic, Merlin!' is. I know it sounds weird, but there's some rules to follow, and more importantly, an explanation on how you can get a prize for your hard work! After you've done that, you can sign up here via Livejournal or here via Google Forms.
If you need some cheerleading, you can head over to Discord to join The Tavern(18+) server where I've been graciously allowed to host a channel for this fest. Please note that while The Tavern server is for 18+, if you're under 18, you can still participate in 'Finish that Fic, Merlin!' you just can't be part of that particular Discord server. Fortunately, there are other Merlin servers for people of all ages to help you with your writing. You can even find me in some of them :D
And don't forget to reblog this tumblr post to help spread the word!
imagine being the cuck in ur own story for centuries and then all it takes is a magic twink with drinkable eyes and all of a sudden there’s thousands of stories where you’re the main love interest, getting it in every which way. happened to my friend arthur pendragon
Thanks @liviapeleia for tagging me, your wip excerpts made me very curious to know what's next :D!
Rules: you will be given a word. Then you share one sentence/excerpt from your wip(s) that starts with each letter of your word!
Tagging @breadkween, @achillesuwu and @futurepastme if you're interested! Your word should you choose to accept it is FISH!
Livia you gave me 'myth.'

“Merlin is a-”
But he knew, he had known for a long time.
Across from him his servant looked like a startled hare, wide-eyed, gaunt in the dim light. The thing they had not been saying had almost been said. Did Merlin think that just because it was said aloud that suddenly Arthur would change his mind, have him executed?
Instead he made a show of sagging in relief and Merlin hesitated and then sagged with him.

“You’re lying. You have something you must do, something that might help me. Maybe it'll turn the tide of this battle.”
“Arthur-”
“Whatever you're about to say, let it be the truth for once. I need to hear it, finally hear it. How many years has it been? We never spoke about your magic, not once, not really, not like we should have.”
“My-?”
“It’s said now, I don't care, not anymore. I can't go into this battle without you, not unless I know it’s for a good cause and not unless I know that you’ll be safe.”
T
“The spitting, what's that then?”
“To ward off curses! Anyone can do it!”
“The asphodel?”
“The dead need appeasing!” Merlin threw his hands in the air and then towards Arthur. “You’ve seen the ghost of your father, you've fought the undead!”
Arthur was throwing his hands too now. “The cabbage leaves? Prophetic dreams have to be sorcerery?!”
“Yes but not the kind you get from cabbage leaves!”

He is the custodian of our stories, the golden age we brought about together and he’ll be the custodian of the stories after I’m gone, learn them from him, help him to hold them and share them, I think some days he might find them too heavy to carry.
He’s the most powerful and the most precious thing to ever walk this Earth, it would be a tragedy too immense to imagine or bear thinking about if he lost what made him human. But more than that, I ask you to do this, to pass on this message to those who come after you because I love him and I cannot do all of these things myself.
I'm a proud future owner of a Camlann tape 🙋🏼 I clicked so very fast when I got the notification. So excited for it to arrive🔥!
Yep, you read that right, you can now acquire Camlann's beautiful original soundtrack by @tincanaudio on cassette. It features some incredible art too - including a cover by @arianwells and graphic design and illustrations by Moira Daykin!
There are only 100 of these cassettes, and Amber will be hand-numbering each one. They really are unique.
All proceeds raised from the sales will go towards making season 2, which is a thing we are still trying to do and will only be able to do with your help.
Keep the fires burning.
Since 2023 I've been putting together an almanac and nature guide. It first started as notes on my phone and it's now become a fairly huge project and labour of love. I'll be posting things like:
How to find south by looking at Orion and the branches of trees
When foxes have kits and swallows migrate
The early signs of spring
Irish folklore about the Devil spitting on blackberries and how to ward off bad luck if you catch sight of the new moon
How to know if there's a storm coming by examining the clouds
I recommend this blog for anyone looking to learn about and connect with nature in new ways. It would also be helpful to writers for help with your natural settings, in fact, this project started when I was doing research for a fic!
About This Blog
This blog grew naturally out of my project to put together a perpetual almanac and guide to nature for my friends and I. All of the things I've learned have brought me so much unexpected joy and have really changed simple things like walks and how I look at trees, the stars, clouds, the weeds in the verges and more.
The Lay of the Land
In monthly almanac posts I'll share what's happening with the plants, the animals and the skies, as well as some applicable folklore and traditions. These will be tagged with #almanac and posted in the first few days of every month.
!! Please note that while it may sometimes cover edible plants, this almanac is not a foraging guide !!
I'll also be posting about natural navigation techniques and general knowledge to help you understand what you're looking at and to give you things to observe and notice year-round. These will be tagged with #naturalnavigation and/or #natureknowledge.
I'll add my sources and further reading/listening recommendations to each post.
Posts will relate largely to the Northern Hemisphere, with plant and animal information mostly applicable to Ireland, the UK and northern Europe. Some information can be flipped for the southern hemisphere (e.g. the sun and moon travel across the southern sky for those in the northern hemisphere, and the northern sky for those in the southern hemisphere).
Come Along
If you'd like to come along for the adventure, I recommend that you keep your own notes of the posts and tips that interest you. You can also think about looking ahead and using other sources to note the dates of the spring and neap tides where you are (highest high-tides and lowest low-tides) and the dates of the new and full moon. When recording monthly information about the planets, I recommend you look for their rise and set times and what portion of the sky you can expect to see them in. This is not only another thing to track, but it will help you correctly identify the planets. If you aren't living in the same part of the world as me, you could also note down what the plants and animals are up to where you are.
Mad excited to share this project with you all!
