one of my favorite panels of Dick is when he's wearing a leather jacket over a torn up Discowing costume and now that I've been reading the Titans comics for a while, I finally have context for it:

[Epilogue Three:]
Dick's internal monologue says, "Goodbyes are hard, but I had to come. I don't know if I have the wherewithal to fight them in court -- of it I could possibly justify the damage to the city when the tower was destroyed."
A construction worker says to another, "Yes, yes, I want all expenses duly noted."
The other replies, "Isn't it grand? First no tower, next no Titans." The two construction workers sail away on a boat.
Dick's internal monologue continues, "The island's been take away from us... and it feels like I've lost another friend. The 'beests didn't just kill us, they twisted the knife through our hearts. Will anything ever be the same agai-- hmmm." Dick notices someone sneak up behind him. He turns and says, "Wilson."

Deathstroke appears and says, "Very good, Grayson. Not one man in a million would have heard me. You do realize there's no benefit in regurgitating 'the good old days.'"
Dick turns away from Slade and imagines that he's looking at Titans Tower while saying, "I wouldn't expect you to understand. First you've got to have a heart in order to care." He looks away from where the tower once stood and continues speaking, "You didn't even attend your own son's funeral." Dick looks back at Slade saying, "The son-- you-- MURDERED!"
Dick and Slade glare at each other as Dick clenches his fist.

Dick kicks Slade straight in the face while yelling, "AAAAGGHHH!"
Dick then punches Slade while saying, "Damn you, you miserable bastard! You killed him. How could you kill you own son?!? Fight back Wilson." Dick knees Slade in the gut, saying, "Fight back so I can kill you the same way. Fight back, damn you!"

Slade grabs Dick's leather jacket, which begins to come off of him, while Slade says, "Go ahead, Grayson-- try to hit me. Get it all out. Get it out of your system. And maybe then you'll realize you weren't the only one who lost someone. I LOST A SON! Grayson, you're good-- but I don't have to fight you to stop you."
Slade hits Dick who is knocked into a construction vehicle, saying, "Unnhhh."
Dick sits on the ground, bleeding with his costume beginning to tear at the left arm, and says, "I... I-- Ahh, dammit. How the hell do people like you and Bruce keep it bottled up inside you? Don't you ever have to cut loose? To let go? If I didn't... I think I'd explode."

Slade points his staff at Dick and says, "I lost it once. Long time ago. I can't afford to ever go through that again. You need help? You may have hurt your back."
Dick replies, "I'm fine," as he stands up.
Slade says, "As for Joe, I can't think that I killed him. I have to believe I freed him. Otherwise I'd go mad."
Dick says, "What about Adeline? Have you told your ex-- his own mother about it yet?"
Slade walks away as he says, "No. Don't know how. But I will. Soon. Right now all I want is to go home."
Dick looks off into the harbor and at the city, "Yeah. Right. Home. Wherever the hell that may be."

The New Titans (1988) #86

my man's had his team anniversary party crashed and most of his friends kidnapped and injured while one friend gets possessed and tries to destroy them all only to get murdered by his own father, who Dick then has to fight in the above panels. a couple other's are presumed dead as well. Titans Tower gets destroyed so he's basically homeless except for his shitty apartment. he's having relationship problems because his girlfriend feels like he's smothering her. oh and his brother died not too long ago (in comic time. in real time it's been a few years). also some Time Travel Shenanigans are going on in a weird B plot that's probably going to turn into an A plot soon. he's really going through it

Best bros🤜🏿🤛🏻

After playing tdim for the second time, I have to update the initial choice of my favorite character. I don't want to take this title away from my beloved Mark, but I think I will divide it between him and Charlie.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about other relationships in the game (I really wish I could!), the only relationship I stand behind is Charlie and Mark's friendship (if you don't agree with this, that's totally fine, there's no point in proving me wrong because this is definitely not the case when there are those who are right and those who are wrong).

I loved their heart-to-heart talks throughout the game, and it hurt me to make Mark say nasty things about Charlie behind his back (I did this to maximize my relationship with Kate and will never do it again because it's not worth it lol). I liked the way they supported each other, and even with strained relationships, they still find a common language. Mark does not rush at Charlie with accusations at the first opportunity, giving himself time to think. I'm not gonna lie, protecting Charlie from Erin's attacks playing for Mark was one of the most pleasant and simple choices I've made in the entire game.
