Was finally able to listen to the wild life recap Imp and Skizz podcast episode and let me tell you: GRIAN WAS PISSED ABOUT THAT CAR. HE HATED THAT THING AND THAT IS HILARIOUS. Apparently the reason he didn't like it was because (in summarized words 'this is a death game, why has he built a bloody car? This looks like its from a creative world. WHY DO YOU ALWAYS DO THIS JOEL THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE SERIOUS AND DEATH GAME QUIT BUILDING STUPID BASES'

Nikki is an apple farmer, people can pay to go apple picking and she sells her own apples as well. She doesn't get much money but she gets enough to be comfy overall her life was peaceful. Was peaceful. One ordinary Saturday Nikki was picking apples humming an unrecognizable tune placing apples in her basket when suddenly a shadow covered the sun. Curious Nikki looks up, expecting a cloud or maybe even just a huge flock of birds but instead her blood runs cold as she stares up at the sky. There flying right towards the poor girl is a purple and pink dragon with piercing yellow eyes and razor sharp teeth and a snarling mouth. Nikki drops her basket and starts to walk slowly away before speeding up to a run but before the apple farmer can get far a booming voice speaks up that strikes fear in her heart and stops her from running. "Mortal." Said the deep voice, Nikki takes a breath and turns over to the enlarged dragon and tried to gain her courage "Hello, mighty one" Nikki says flustered bowing down even though he's not a king "Please don't burn my farm" Her voice is trembles as she speaks "Stand" Nikki listens obediently and scrambles up refusing to look the dragon in the eye. "Mortal, I have something to ask you" the dragon says calmly, his voice shaking the trees around and nearly toppling the scared girl. "Yes?" Nikki mutters. Suddenly a puff of smoke appears. Nikki coughs trying to get the smoke out of her lungs once she's able to breath again she looks back at the dragon but instead of a dragon there is a human, he's slightly shorter the Nikki being 5'6 while Nikki is 5'8, he has light purple hair and pale blue skin his teeth are just as sharp and his eyes are just as yellow and intermediating. What stood out most about the man however is what he was holding in his arms, in the dragon's arms is a small child she has the same eyes, teeth, and hair as the man holding her but her hair is in tiny pigtails and her skin is a dull pink instead of a dull blue and she has tiny wings that look almost identical to the ones the man had when he was a dragon except smaller and blue. Her expression looks like an odd mix of sad and excited. She looks to be around two. "This is Arabella my daughter" says the dragon-man his voice is still Intimidating but it's no longer shaking the world with each word. "Um, ok?" Nikki says a little awkwardly. "She is now your daughter" the dragon-man states, tossing Arabella over and Nikki who scrambles to catch her. "What? What are you talking about?" Nikki asks, as Arabella leans forward and hugs her neck "Well you see," the dragon- man starts "Unlike most dragons Arabella is unable to turn into a full dragon or a human so I will no longer be raising her, I believe you humans call it adoption no?" "No! I mean yes technically but adoption is usually more technical not just, 'here's my kid' you know? You can't just give her to me." Nikki cries trying to gently pull the little girl off her neck "yes I can " Nikki shuts up immediately the yellow eyes are glaring at her promising death. Nikki can see her whole farm, her life's work, burning and her burning with it. "Anyway as I said her name is Arabella, she is two years old and she has no allergies. Raise her well." The last part is said as a threat despite the sentence itself seemingly innocent. After a second of awkward eye contact, smoke appears again and it throws Nikki back. She's only barely able to stay on her feet and stop the kid? Dragon? Arabella. From falling out of her arms. Nikki and Arabella look up as the dragon flies away, not even looking back after a second of watching the empty sky a tiny voice in Nikki's arm asks "Are you my new mama?" Nikki just stood there staring up at the clear sky.

"So let me get this right." Nikki's fiance,Lola,readjusts herself on her seat , taking a quick drink of the tea she made for the pair before continuing "A dragon flew down, turned into a human, threw a kid at you and left?" She questioned eyeing the dragon child running around the couch as Nikki sits there defeated. "Yeah," Nikki responds solemnly, looking dead in the chair. Lola hums a noncommittal response then she starts laughing, not even trying to hide it. "Lo' please this isn't funny we are not ready for children" Nikki cries as Arabella jumps onto the couch and starts pulling in her sleeve "Mama! Mama! Who's she?" She asks curiously pointing right at Lola. Lola takes a breath to stop laughing and gives Arabella a sweet smile "Hello my name is Lola, I'm your mom fiance!" Arabella's mouth goes into an O as she looks at Lola excitedly before turning back to her new mama curiously "What's a fiance?" Nikki sighs and sits up a little more so she's no longer slouched on the couch. "It means that we're going to marry each other." "Marry?" Nikki pauses for a second trying to come up with a good explanation but Lola beats her to it "It means dating forever " " FOREVER?!" Arabella repeats as if this is the most interesting Information she has ever heard in her short life "Forever!" Lola repeats copying the young girl's tone. "WOAH!" She exclaimed pulling on Nikki 's sleeve excitedly again "Mama! Mama!" "Hm?" Nikki glances over to her "Can I get married." Lola puts her hand over her mouth to try to cover her giggles, key word try, and Nikki just sighs still too overwhelmed to give a good response "Ask me in twenty years" "But I wanna get married now" Arabella whines pulling harder on her sleeve surprisingly strong for a two year old. Nikki just Crouch's over and hides her head in her hands, "Nikki?" Lola asks gently leaning over towards her tapping her head, "Mama?" Arabella stops pulling on her sleeve instead just gazing up at Nikki, worry clear on her tiny face. "I'm fine, I'm fine" Nikki takes a breath before finally moving her hands away from her face, "I'm sorry." Nikki and Lola look over at the tiny girl who is no longer as energized as she was only a moment ago "For what hun?" Lola asks, taking another drink of her tea Nikki copying her actions. "That I'm here" oh, the couple could feel their heart break. Lola sighs and leans back into her chair "Oh, it's not-" "It's not your fault Arabella" Nikki interrupts surprising both her fiance and her new daughter "You have nothing to be sorry for Arabella, you did nothing wrong I promise." Nikki gives the young girl a sweet smile to comfort her. Arabella pauses for a moment before smiling wide,"So you are my mama!" Arabella exclaims standing up on the couch to effectively celebrate having a new mom. Lola snorts and nudges Nikki with her foot from under the table, while Nikki tries poorly to hide her smile.

You are a humble farmer when a dragon suddenly appears, he wants you to take his young dragon daughter that is unable to turn fully into a dragon and no longer wants her, before you could respond he fly’s away leaving her behind, she then looks at you and ask “Are you my new daddie/mommy?”

Any favourite fics with Shouji?

Oooh boyyy.. See, the thing with Shouji is that there aren’t a lot of fics that feature him as the main character. And because he’s such an enshrouded individual, some writers who actually have him as the protagonist within their stories tend to portray his character in a way that’s deviated from what the original series delivers. So I have a hard time finding good fics about him that both abide by the original concepts, yet remain loyal to the writers’ own unique depictions, which are traits I look most often on. But good Shouji fics are worth all the hard searching. It saddens me on how some are underrated, as they didn’t seem to get much attention like hits or kudos (note that all my favorite fics with Shouji are from the site “Archive of Our Own”), so I’m really glad I could talk about this. Anyways, let’s cut to the chase, shall we? >ㅅ<9 Here are my 5 favorite Shouji-centric fics!

“Masks” by Aglo - This is a character study fic, the main topic of the story being quirk prejudice against heteromorphs. I really like how the fic displays discrimination in a realistic way, to the point where it mirrors the appearance-based prejudice that exist within our own world. The narration is in first person, so it vividly conveys a lot of Shouji’s inner voice and thought to the readers, plus hinting tangibly of his belief, motivation, and intention whilst pursuing the “hero’s path” within the society that stigmatizes him. The author does an excellent job implying within their story with references of Shouji’s character concept, such as the fact that he began wearing his mask after making a child cry with it and there being prejudice within his hometown (Fukuoka), plus referencing Horikoshi’s note beside a Shouji sketch stating that “a hero must not inspire fear”. The fic in general is quite critical on society’s prejudice and really shows well the perspective of heteromorphs on this issue, which is always a topic I love knowing more of. I read this whenever I want to further understand Shouji and find closer connection to him, as the fic really does well in making me sympathize with Shouji (perhaps even empathize), due to how the depiction of his character seem rather “realistic” and “human”.

“One Week in Kyushu” by ZeroUnitRGB - This is probably my first Shouji x Tokoyami fic, as is the reason why I ended up liking the ship. This fic has a slower pacing, the two characters slowly developing a bond throughout the course of seven chapters. The narration mainly focuses on Tokoyami’s perspective, but as the two get along, it opens up more on Shouji’s secrets. The build-up is really intriguing and the author does well one manipulating mood through the depiction of vivid tone that’re dependent on the characters’ feelings. As the fic focuses more on “emotion” than “action”, I like reading this whenever I want my attention to seep into the character-based story world, as I imagine the scenarios while reading.

“A Hero for a Villain” by ZeroUnitRGB - Another character study fic I enjoy reading. It’s one of the shorter ones (3000 words), but due to how short and straightforward it is through superb usage of literary devices, such as the stream of consciousness, I think I’ve read this most often before going to sleep. As I’ve mentioned before, I REALLY love the issue of mutant prejudice in association to the MHA world, as well as favoring the characters that have fallen victim to it. And this fic specifically shows the interaction between Shouji and Chimera, a villain from the movie “My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising”. Shouji and Chimera, two people who’ve suffered prejudice from society that ended up in different paths.. The poignancy of juxtaposing the two characters that’re alike yet different is something I always found favor of seeing. I have high appreciation for this fic because it’s one of the earliest stories I’ve read about in regard with the topic of quirk prejudice. It granted me a new perspective on Shouji’s character and his potential for growth as a hero.

“The Maiden and the Monster” by Luneth - It’s a “Beauty and the Beast AU” fic which handles a rare ship: Shouji x Shiozaki. The main concepts are derived from the Disney movie, but some are altered to match with the MHA characters that’re featured within the story. The concepts are interesting and the ideas are enchanting. Also, the author does a really good job displaying the characters in a way that’s loyal to the original series. The narration is really expressive, the dialogues are realistic, and the paralinguistic features that depict the traits of the characters are likely and accurate in the comical sense of MHA (I still wheeze at the concept of Iida being a roomba X’D). This fic is probably one of the more wholesome and adorable ones; I smile every time I reread them huehue...<3

“Wisdom Teeth” by Luneth - This is an extremely goofy fic looooool. So it’s basically a slice of life fic, where Shouji’s being all drowsy and clumsy after his wisdom teeth removal. What makes it even more hilarious is that two characters that take care of him are Iida and Tokoyami; their dramatic personalities being reflected through their reaction to Shouji makes it even better *lmbo*. The fic contains lots of humor within both the narration and dialogue, so I really enjoy reading this whenever I wanna feel lighthearted or entertained with cuteness >w<
