[ID copied from ALT: A digital two panel comic style illustration of Kayne and Faroe from Malevolent. In the first panel, labelled carrot, Kayne holds a sleeping Faroe in his arms. She has a halo, opposite of the black one around his head. He is looking at her almost softly and smiling. In the second panel, a close up of Kayne's eyes look direct at the viewer, no smile visible. The second panel is labelled stick. End ID.]
Listen to that
why is animation so hard <- literally an animation student
Fought with the composition of this for 4 hours and lost ‼️🗣
[ID copied from ALT: Arthur Lester, a man with short, curly, brown hair, a thin mustache, the top part of his right ear missing, and visible scars next to his right eye and on his neck, stands on a dark corridor, holding up a lighter with his left hand, facing towards the viewer. He is wearing a dark blue pinstripe three-piece suit, a muted red tie, and a long brown coat. The corridor he is standing in is dark and tilted strangely to the right. At the end of the corridor behind Arthur there's a door hanging slightly open, with bright red light spilling out through the crack. On the wall to Arthur's left there are two framed silhouette portraits of two young women facing each other. A swirling dark mass filled with eyes and grinning teeth that seems to be coming out of the crack in the door is clinging on the ceiling and spilling down the wall towards the two portraits. On the wall to Arthur's right there is a dark shadow that seems to be cast by him, looming tall with two shiny yellow pinpricks of light positioned as its eyes. Right against the shadow's elbow there is a dusty mirror, and reflected on it is an arm clothed in tattered yellow robes, ending on a dark inhuman hand holding a lighter, mirroring Arthur's left arm. Neglected to post this earlier because of life stuff going on, but belatedly here's my piece for the @malevolent-fanzine, inspired by the early episodes of season 4 and the boarding house.
@horseboneologist gave me a list of prompts involving Hastur, on of which was “Hastur threatening John” and I like torturing my favorites. Poor John… 😘
Playing with a redesign to incorporate the pallid mask and a more fleshy look that I’ve been wanting to do for a while. Of course I see all of the eldritch creatures/entities as more fluid and not really locked into how they appear, so I’m having fun being inconsistent with how I draw Hastur and his fragments lol
[ID: drawing of Arthur from Malevolent. the drawing is monochrome with various bright yellow accents. Arthur has a solemn expression, his face half covered by a mask he is holding with his left hand. The mask is white with two holes for eyes, and a melting crown is floating above it. a dark, semitranslucent hand is resting on Arthur’s left shoulder, splitting his arm from the rest of his body with a yellow gap. A similar chasm exists on Arthur’s right side, where he is merging with a nondescript, melting, open book. Next to him is the following text: “I’m the gap between a tragedy & comedy.” end ID]
For @dickwheelie who wanted 69 with Arthur for the Spotify ask :]
69 - “The Main Character” by Will Wood. Poor little meow meow is going thru it.
direct action
[ID: a two-panel comic of Arthur Lester from Malevolent. The background of the first panel consists of scribbled black strokes, on which John’s yellow dialogue is written. It is largely obscured by Arthur, but visible pieces say, “Oh, God, Arthur, they’ve skinned–” “Blood–” “Rotten–” In speech bubbles that further hide this text, Arthur is saying, “All right, that’s– JOHN, stop, that’s enough!”
In the second panel, Arthur has slapped his right hand firmly over his eyes. The black background has been reduced to a small, angry shape looming over Arthur’s shoulder, with slitted yellow eyes and a sharp-toothed open mouth. John is shouting, “HEY!” /end ID]
[ID copied from ALT: A four panel comic showing Noel, Arthur and John during the diner scene in part 39. Panel one: Noel, with his coffee cup to his lips, says “Well, I appreciate the perspective, but… with respect. I was asking John.” Panel two: John, blushes, says “W… What?”, while Arthur, with a shocked expression says, “Oh. I…” Panel three: Noel tilts his coffee cup towards Arthur and says “Presumably, John can hear me.” In the fourth panel, John smiles wide and says “I can.” Arthur says “He… I can.”
Two sketches based on malevolent part 39. The first sketch shows a bust of Arthur looking offended while John looks uncertain. Arthur says “you think I couldn’t do that if I could just see again?” And John says “well. I don’t know that’s why I’m asking”. An arrow points to a second sketch showing Arthur kicking a crying bleeding man into the floor while John looks down nervously. End ID.]
My two favorite parts of this episode were “John gets to experience a human connection” and “Arthur curb stomps a guy just to prove he can, probably.”
Bonus Noel/Charlie concept sketches and lil Arthur and Noel colors under the cut
[ID copied from ALT: A digital sketch of a scene from Intermezzo. Arthur and Kayne are crammed in a dark closet with Parker’s body. Arthur looks horrified as he realizes what he’s touching. John looks uncomfortable. Kayne is smiling wildly, with both his hands on Parker’s jaw, moving it as if to speak. End ID.]
Just excited that we got another scene with my favorite dead body
