This month marks the last opportunity to see Graced with Light, artist Anne Patterson’s year-long installation in San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral (@gracecathedral).

Commissioned in 2013 as Grace Cathedral’s artist in residence, Patterson strung nearly 32 kilometers (20 miles) of multicolored ribbons from the Cathedral’s vaulted ceilings. Illuminated from above and by light streaming in through the cathedral’s windows, the ribbons represent pathways of light carrying the prayers and dreams of visitors skyward.

Its face is clear, its reddish eyes are visible, and the way it faces my camera with it’s arms wide makes it almost symmetrical. It’s clear color matches the hydra that it is living on. Spotting Cotton Candy Colors with @aurelycerise

Aurely Cerise (@aurelycerise ) chases rainbows of color, and she describes her photography as “fresh” and smile-inducing. “My friends say my art brings happiness,” says the Paris Instagrammer. With color being her creative trigger, Aurely looks at everyday objects and naturally starts composing still life scenes. Whether it’s masking tape, pencils or a cup of coffee, Aurely enjoys arranging random things and capturing them from particular perspectives. “It’s funny to see how many things could be really beautiful when you only change your point of view,” she says. Organizing also helps to overcome her natural anxiety. “When I create a set-up it allows me to channel my stress.”

When Aurely is not out and about capturing colorful sceneries, she lets her creative juices flow in front of a canvas. “This photo explains how i imagine creation. Nothing is planned, the feelings are getting out from my brush and start creating forms.” Her simple advice for finding joy: “Put some color in your life.”

Uma das particularidades da Basílica de São Paulo fora dos muros, em Roma, são os retratos de todos os papas. Aquele de Papa Francisco foi colocado terça-feira, 10 de dezembo, ao lado de Bento XVI. Todos os 266 papas estão representados. O mosaico de Papa Francisco foi feito com base em uma foto pelos artistas do Estúdio de Mosaico Vaticano da Fábrica de São Pedro que desde 1823 faz as peças para a Basílica de São Paulo fora dos muros.

Creating Art from Nuts with @mokassarart

When Yaser Ahmad (@yaserahmad), a creative director in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, got his first smartphone, he decided he needed a creative project for Instagram.

Inspired by @cintascotch and @leesamantha, Yaser challenged himself to find a simple idea to express his creativity. “I spent almost a month brainstorming,” he says, “and I came up with nuts. They have different shapes and I love that they have a nice color gradation, so they are pleasing to the eye.”

Yaser called the project @mokassarart, which is a combination of the Arabic word for “nuts,” Mokassarat, and “art”. Inspiration often comes to Yaser in mundane moments and stems from the nuts themselves. He quickly sketches a draft of his idea, arranges and photographs the nuts, then draws in the scene around them.
