Izuku had an arm crossed over his face, attempting to block off the blush growing on his cheeks.
“I’m fine,” Izuku mumbled. “You just surprised me.”
“I can see that.” Shouto smirked. “What are you doing up so early?”
Izuku moved his arm, blinking up at Shouto. “I usually get up this early.”
Shouto furrowed his eyebrows, adjusting the bag on his shoulder. “Really? I don’t remember seeing you here until later in the day. At least, not on weekends.”
“Oh.” Izuku smiled brightly. “I normally go for a long run on Saturdays, but I’m switching up my routine. All Might devised a new training program for me, to help in my muscle growth.”
“Uh, huh. I see.” Shouto eyed his boyfriend, examining him intensely.
Well. The muscle training was certainly helping. Currently, Izuku’s t-shirt was stretched to the extreme, the thin fabric struggling to contain the wide breadth of his chest. Any more muscle mass and he would tear the shirt clean off his body.
Not that Shouto would complain.

“Goddammit.” Phoenix throws his case files in front of him, the papers mismatched in disarray. “This is useless.”
His office is occupied by one other individual. Miles looks over from his seat on the couch. “What’s the problem?”
“I can’t seem to find a motive for the culprit,” Phoenix says. He rubs his forehead and leans back in his chair. “I don’t even know where to look.”
Miles places his work down, in a much orderly fashion than his own. “Is there anything I can do to help?”
“Solve this case,” he says. Then waves him off. “No, no, I just need—I don’t know.” He stares down at his hands. “Maybe a bit of encouragement? That might help?”
Miles stares at him and Phoenix flushes under his gaze. He’s not used to this new…thing, where he asks for what he wants. It’s something Maya recommended and—well. He’s always been a bit more reserved on the whole receiving than giving.
“Very well.” Miles nods and straightens up. Phoenix braces himself for the punch. “You are one of the brightest defense attorneys I’ve ever met. I spend half my time figuring out how to thwart you and the other half examining ways of how to think like you. If there is an issue with a trial, I know I can always come to you.” He smiles, a tiny thing that makes his heart flutter. “And I hope you trust me enough to know the same sentiment is returned.”
Phoenix blushes a bright red. He sinks down into his chair, legs crumbling to the floor. “Oh, uh, yeah. That was exactly, yeah that’s nice. For sure. Ha, ha, ha, ha!”
“Are you alright?”
“I’m doing just dandy.”
Miles chuckles quietly as Phoenix continues to hide. “Apparently you’ve lost your talent for speaking as well.”
“Ehhhhhhhhh—“ Phoenix whines. “I just wasn’t expecting! That!”
“I did speak so on your request.”
“You speak fancy sometimes and I don’t know what to do.”
“You haven’t gotten used to it yet, I see.” Phoenix peeks out over his desk to witness him smirking. “Good to know.”
Inspired by @majesticanna again 💚

“You’re not going to leave, are you?”
Miles picks a piece of lint off his lapel. “I did suffer through seventeen hours of plane travel, including waiting in airport terminals, all of it just to see you. I do not believe it’s much of a task to at least offer a glass of water.”
Phoenix groans, a long drawn-out sound; it makes Miles’ mouth twitch. “Sorry, your grace, I’ve been a bit busy, with the whole losing my badge business.” His voice cracks on ‘badge’; Miles pretends he doesn’t hear it. “Forgive me for forgetting common courtesy.”

Miles continues his habit of flying back home for major events—which Phoenix has a penchant for falling into. But this time, instead of leaving, he stays. +++ Happy Narumitsu week! Not written for it, but I might squeeze in something soon :eyes:. Hope you enjoy!
It's bratfeen time and I love them

Realizing he’s in love with Miles Edgeworth, Phoenix Wright decides to do what he does best: bluff his way through it.
It’s okay to be in love with your childhood best friend-turned-enemy-turned-rival-turned-best-friend, Phoenix thinks. As long as he never knows.
But there’s not much for Phoenix to do. If he changes his behaviors too much, Miles will know and the whole purpose of keeping his feelings a secret will prove moot.
So Phoenix still touches Miles casually, eats dinners with him, solves cases with him.
The only difference is that he shoves this temporary box of “knowledge and realizations” to the side, unlike in court, where he’d blurt them out as soon as he discovered them.
It would have gone fine. Really, it would. If Phoenix didn’t have a giant mouth that sucked at shutting up.
He’s sitting on the agency’s rundown couch with Miles, parsing through case files while they sip his expensive tea in Phoenix’s paper cups. It’s a quiet moment, silent except for the turning of pages and sipping of tea—its comfort tricks him into speaking the thought that pops into his mind:
“Are we in love?”
If Miles were the type to be surprised, he may have spilt his drink. As it were, as Phoenix’s eyes grow wide in horror, Miles coughs and places his cup down, the only sign he is ruffled the slight shake of the liquid.
“Does that question warrant an answer, Wright?”
Phoenix responds: “I don’t know.”
Miles takes a different approach. “Are you in love with me?”
“Uhhhh.” Phoenix knows he sounds dumb, but like always, he is powerless to stop it. “I mean, yeah?”
“Oh.” Miles coughs again. “How long?”
With the truth released and no rescinding of their friendship, Phoenix relaxes, if only slightly. “I don’t know.” His eyebrows scrunch. “I must have been at least a little obsessed to chase you this far.”
“And then?”
Phoenix wonders if he’s imagining the hope in his voice.
“And then…I guess I was in a position to keep falling.”
Miles’ voice is small as he says: “even knowing what I’ve done?”
Phoenix’s lips upturn at the edges. “Even knowing that.” He lets his gaze sharpen. “It would have been harder to stop than to keep going with it.”
Miles exhales. He picks up his tea. Takes a sip.
“I see.”
Phoenix waits. And waits. And waits. And then he pushes.
“And you?”
Miles chuckles and Phoenix’s heart thumps. “I don’t let anyone else drink this tea.”
“Really?”
“It’s my favorite,” Miles says.
And with that, Phoenix doesn’t need another answer.
He picks up his case files. “If we finish this case, can I take you out on a date?”
Miles laughs, this one full and bright, a sound meant to be heard. “If we have time.”
They don’t. But in the following days, they spend enough time together that it doesn’t matter.
