the thing that’s the most wild to me about any demographic of men thinking they are ontologically incapable of misogyny is that not even women are ontologically incapable of misogyny. you can be extremely marginalized and still be able to leverage misogyny to your advantage if there is even one woman or girl who ranks lower than you do in the gender hierarchy.

you would think everyone would learn this having been a child and seeing how the most marginalized girl you knew was treated at school. kids with almost no legal power at all can get away with assaulting a disabled girl, a black girl, a poor girl, a gay or bi girl, a trans girl, a girl from a family with a targeted faith practice in her country, an immigrant girl, a nonverbal girl. the social ladder people climb is girls who are collectively selected as Okay To Abuse.

I’ll slowly post everything again.

I just wanted to start off by saying that i love your story and i think you’re a really great writer, i cant wait for the next chapter. even though i don’t like troy lol, i really liked how we can also gain insight on his situation and seeing how it relates to byler (specifically mike). i think it was an interesting creative route to take.

my question was just going to be about how often you update. do you like to update periodically or whenever you finish the chapter?

genuinely just curious, this isn’t meant to come off as rushing you or anything.

hey there! i am so glad you are liking the story. it's been one that i've been meaning to write for a while, and after sitting on it for a few months (i started it back in april) the full picture of it really came together and i was able to start writing it again.

i am glad you've liked the creative choice! that makes me happy. and yes, troy isn't necessarily likable, nor was it my intention for him to be. i wanted to keep his personality something that was recognizable from canon, but i also wanted the character i have written not be one note or everything revolving around him be black and white. i wasn't interested in having him be a one note villain. in this story we see that yes, he is will's villain, and we think he's mike's villain at first, until we are given more information. but yes, like, i didn't write him with the intention on making people love troy haha. more so, to be able to empathize with the horrible situation he deals with and that yes, the way he is, is a normal response to that. even if it makes him ulikable. the thing about people in our life who are assholes and we don't like, doesn't mean that abuse they might have suffered is any less real or valid. and that was what i was trying to explore here a little bit. (and how it relates to mike and his pain too.)

it seems I've been updating at least once a week pretty regularly. i generally am a person who posts after I've finished writing each chapter and done some edits. i have to story all outlined, so it's really just getting the words on the page at this point. but yes, i write each new chapter after the next, i don't have them pre-written. so it's kind of when i finish them. i will say i won't be updating any other stories of mine until this one is finished. it's just a very specific headspace that i don't want to get out of and try to write something else. i feel bad for those reading the pact, lol, as i've started a chapter for that and left it sitting, but it's just how it's gonna have to be for now. 😅

but yeah! i updated yesterday, and should have another update by the end of the week. :) i expect there to be 10ish more chapters and an epilogue. and I expect the story to be complete by the end of the month or shortly into november. <3
