~* it's a pakkun party *~
Okay I have to rant for a sec.
Something I don’t think a lot of ppl understand is that if u have ibd and/or a shit ton of allergies, going to restaurants SUCK.
I have Crohn’s and a ton of allergies that I recently found out about and going out to eat is just so difficult and draining. Having to watch everyone eat delicious foods and get these fantastical meals while you’re always stuck with the bare bones of a salad, chips away at ur mentality. Plus, with restaurants, there is always the major factor of cross contamination that makes going out to eat very anxiety inducing.
I’m not saying don’t invite ur chronically ill friends out to eat but if that person has said before that restaurants are hard and they CLEARLY aren’t having a good time, find a different way to spend time together. When food is making u sick, having a whole 2+hrs spent around it isn’t the best of vibes.
I need more Zoro/zolu fanart utilizing his three swords and his devotion, bc the imagery could be SOOO GOOD.
3 of swords in tarot is all about emotions, grief, pain, emotional suffering, but it can also be seen as a release. The three swords pierce the heart, eliciting emotions that may have been buried to bleed to the surface. It is a sign of sorrow, grief, but a pain that is welcomed.
And in Christian imagery, Mary is often depicted having swords piercing her/her heart, indicating the seven sorrows. It is showing the pain she went through that lead to Jesus’s sacrifice, depicting the grief a mother feels seeing their child suffer.
Now, Zoro’s devotion is tied to his sword style. His dream is intertwined with Luffy, making all of his training, every fight, every near death experience, and glorious victory dedicated to one man, his captain. Zoro fights because he sees Luffy as something greater than himself, greater than everyone else. With his 3 swords, he will claw his way to hell and back to save the man he calls captain.
Like, guys, THE POTENTIAL. USE SACRILEGIOUS ART TO MAKE THE GAY GAYER AND SADDER.
The swords have meaning, embrace it.
I’m writing more Zolu and if you’re wondering what the vibe is lemme give y’all a sneak peak at my thought process:
I was listening to Roadkill by Searows and looked over to see some of the dead flowers I’ve preserved and I thought “hmm, I feel like Luffy loves others in the same selfish manner in which we preserve flowers: he loves them too much to ever part with them and even in death he would still find beauty and use in their shape.” Also very inspired by a painting I’m making about a crow eating another dead crow on the side of the road (because is there any other greater act of love and mercy one can show on another in a cruel, mangling death by still giving them one last purpose in life?)
So yeah, luffy Pov all abt his view of death, love, devotion, and Zoro
We don’t talk about the reason Zoro was so close to dying during thriller bark.
Like yes, it was for Luffy, he took his place with ease, not even thinking about it because it was luffy. He offered his life differently than Sanji did. Sanji saw Zoro sacrificing himself and Sanji couldn’t allow that because in that moment we saw that in Sanjis mind, he thought replaceable to the crew. (Which obv. Isn’t true).
But Zoro didn’t do it out of a lack of self worth, he saw luffy and couldn’t bear the sight of him gone. Zoro, whether he admits it or not, sees Luffy as something to behold, something that lives above others and shines a light that must be seen by all eyes.
On top of all that, he took all of Luffys pain. Not only did he take it all, he jumped head first into it, despite knowing how it would most likely be the end of him. He quite literally lept into all the pain and suffering Luffy had received without a second thought.
And on top of THAT… Zoro said it was “nothing at all”, not only because to him, it was nothing, what he did in his mind wasn’t something worth mulling over— sacrificing himself for Luffy is “nothing at all”. Also, Zoro knew that if Luffy knew the truth behind his pain, he would never forgive himself for being the reason behind his first mates suffering.
Whether you ship Zoro and Luffy or not, you cannot deny the love, adoration and pure devotion Zoro holds for Luffy.
Zoro does care about Luffy and his newly acquired form, but in the way he's been caring since his captain started with his gears. he cares because he has to know the side effects and how they affect Luffy. Luffy is a God, but that isn't news for Zoro, not when he's been holy from the very start. if Zoro fought for Luffy, if he left light kisses on his cheeks and hugged him as tightly as possible whenever they have to separate and will bite him and let him wear his shirts to sleep, and if he prays by helping him whenever he wants to do something stupid, and if he prays when he lets Luffy drag him everywhere like he's a ragdoll, and if he prays every single time he wakes up next to him. if Zoro believes so strongly in him, it's because he's holy in the way he's human, in the way he's strong all the while he is able to bleed, how he's able to laugh and cry, the way he gets angry on behalf of his friends when you hurt them, a man who frees and helps and yet hates when they call him a hero, he's reckless and makes mistakes, he's greedy and possessive, and he learns, he gets better, he's not the same person he was two years ago and he won't the same as he is now two years into the future. Luffy is a God, Zoro cares about this fact, in the way he's been caring for a long time now because it's not new for him, in the way he will care while he makes sure his captain can get what he wants
I'm not trying to read into things that aren't there
BUT,
House md playing Delicate by Damien Rice at the end of s2 ep3 where its a slow pan outwards of House looking contemplative out a rainy window and Wilson looking at him with longing eyes while you hear the lines:
"We might kiss, when we are alone,
Nobody's watching, we might take it home"
not trying to overanalyze but this did in fact drive me insane and I fear I will never recover for the look in Wilsons eyes was devasting and filled with love
I cannot relate to people who dislike female characters for “being manipulative.” She’s literally creative problem solving before your eyes. She’s literally just using her words. Maybe the other blorbos should be less pawn-like for her beautiful hands hmm
zoro is so funny cause he's all like 'i'll stand 10 toes down on my self philosophy that no gods exist' and is the epitome of the opposite of a pious man then luffy barges into his life and suddenly worship is all he knows
Arcane has had me thinking about this dynamic of what I'd call "found siblings" or something like that.
The trope of "like brothers" or "like sisters" I feel is often translated wrong, or ends up becoming more romantic than inteneded is what I think is the neglect of the tie that makes siblings, siblings.
siblings are tied together by a large, fundamental simualrity that forever will tie them together, regardless of what life brigns them. Sharing the same parents intertwines two indivudals, as well as growing up in the same home, regardless of if you are related or not. This tie is a shared expeircne that shapes a persons deveolpmental years.
Also, what always makes me laugh a bit when I hear the line "they're like my brother/sister" or "We're like siblings" is the fact that most of the time, they NEVER act like siblings.
If you want to have to characters have this "found sibling" relationship, they need to be able to express anger, frustration, and a childish annoyance at the other. Siblings know that regarldess of how much they can be angry and hold a form of hatred for the other, at the end of the day, that person has been in their life so long that there are some things that that person will only understand. It's being close because this person knows too much about you, it's sometimes a resigned love. It's not talking to this person for weeks or months but still knowing every intimate and embarassing detail about how this person's tween years.
Now, I'm speaking from a biased standpoint, I'm not close with my sibling in the way in which we talk with one another every day and are best pals or something. But, they're someone I can call at the end of the day when I need help. We won't talk for a month but if I'm stuck in the ER again because of my chronic health condtion, they'll hang out with me the entire time just so i don't feel lonely.
To write characters that percive one another as siblings, they need to be characters that will always help the other out at the end of the day. They can hate one another, but still come when called. They argue, maybe they don't see each other for months because life just got in the way, but when they see one another, they go back to bickering like six year olds. Sibling dynamics are held together by the fact that they know far too much about each other to stop being friends without it being a liability.
Overall, I feel like what creates a great sibling dynamic is the resigned love both characters hold for eachother. It's an eyeroll and a sigh while reaching out a helping hand. It's disagreeing with all of their choices, but reluctantly saying yes to helping them anyway because at the end of the day, you know them too well, you've seen them at their worst and walking away just isn't an option.
Listen, I love seeing soft, yearning, bakudeku.
BUT…..
Guys, they are not gonna be that gentle with each other all the time, they’ve been friends(?) since childhood, Midoryia isn’t afraid to talk back to Bakugo, the two bicker like an old married couple.
Enough of the wholesome cuddling in bed asleep art where everything is perfect— those two would FIGHT for the blankets, limbs are thrown everywhere, Midoryia squirms so much trying to get to sleep bc he can’t turn his brain off, which in turn keeps Bakugo awake. If they try cuddling, Bakugo gets too warm and sweaty, Midoryia steals all the sheets and they always wake up tangled and discombobulated.
I also love the idea of Midoryia realizing bakugo has a deviated septum because the guy snores like a fog horn. This then leads to Bakugo finding out that it’s actually not normal to stop being able to breathe when eating or drinking (does not take this well)
I want to see more petty arguments, arguing over produce prices in the grocery store, Bakugo sending Midoryia to the grocery store with a specific list and pictures or else he gets overwhelmed with all the options in front of him (and bakugo is picky)
I wanna see how big their All Might memorabilia collection would look like when they move in and the arguments that would ensue when it came to organizing it all.
(Midoryia wanted chronological order while Bakugo thought they should do coolest to still cool but not as cool order)
All this to say, they’re friends first before anything else. They know too much about the other, they’ve memorized the others quirks and faults, knowing the others mood just by how they pour their coffee in the morning. They’re too strong willed, stubborn characters that would squabble over silly things but be gentle and understanding when life gets serious.
