For the headcannons, I'd love Xiao, Gorou and Albedo reacting to the reader being sleepy and falling asleep on their shoulders

Heya! Thank you for your request, it's a really cute idea and I had a lot of fun working on this one. This is the first time I've written for Gorou though, so I hope I did him justice. Anyway, have fun reading! <3

Reacting to a gn!reader falling asleep on their shoulders (HCs)

Xiao

Xiao isn’t really used to someone showing him affection the way you always do, so he’s always a bit taken aback when you’re close to him. However, he can’t help but smile when you rest your head on his shoulder while you’re watching the sunset from Wangshu Inn’s balcony.

He didn’t really expect you to fall asleep but as soon as he realizes it, he doesn’t dare to move even the slightest bit because he doesn’t want to wake you up. Although Xiao would never admit it, he’s incredibly happy about the fact that you fell asleep on his shoulder because to him, it’s a sign that you trust him completely, no matter what. He’s not entirely sure if he really deserves your trust, though.

On the one hand, he knows that he should probably wake you up and send you to bed but on the other hand, he really doesn’t want this moment to end. It’s calming and peaceful, something Xiao rarely experiences, and he’s not ready to let go of that feeling so quickly. Plus, he thinks that you look kinda cute when you sleep.

At some point, he still decides to put you to bed because the two of you can’t spend the whole night sitting on the balcony, no matter how much Xiao would enjoy that. He makes sure that you’re comfy before he leaves – but if you woke up and asked him to stay with you, he probably couldn’t say No.

Gorou

Gorou knows next to nothing about romance and therefore often feels a bit insecure when he’s around you. He doesn’t want to do anything wrong or accidentally hurt your feelings, so he usually tries to keep a bit of a distance. However, he won’t refuse when you want to spend some time with him, especially since he barely has time to relax with everything that’s going on in Inazuma.

When you’re sitting around together, maybe after training or something, and you tell him that you feel a bit sleepy, Gorou immediately suggests that you should take a nap because you need some rest. However, he definitely didn’t expect you to lean in and rest your head on his shoulder before slowly drifting off to sleep. The situation is almost a bit bizarre to him because he’s just sitting there, staring at you while he tries to process what’s happening.

He can’t deny that he’s happy, though. You trust him and apparently like him enough to be comfortable with being this close to him, so he really can’t complain about the whole situation. That doesn’t change the fact that he has no idea what to do now, though. Should he put his arm around you to make it more comfortable for you? Or would it be better to sit still, just to make sure that he doesn’t wake you up?

In the end, Gorou settles on holding still to make sure that he’s not disturbing your slumber in any way. He also allows himself to indulge in the situation, although he’s still not entirely sure what to think about it but he tells himself to worry about that later. Right now, he just wants to enjoy the moment.

Albedo

Albedo might seem unapproachable and distanced sometimes but he definitely can’t reject you when you ask him if you could rest your head on his shoulder while he’s reading. Sometimes, he even encourages you to do it when he notices that you’re being sleepy. It’s also not unusual that he stays up all night to read or to complete some notes about his latest experiment, so he’s already used to you keeping him company for a while – something he really appreciates.

It’s a frequent thing that you fall asleep on his shoulder, actually. He doesn’t mind it at all; in fact, he really looks forward to it every time because he thinks that it’s just adorable how you snuggle up to him, right before you fall asleep. He doesn’t get to spend as much time with you as he’d like, so moments like this are some sort of compensation as well.

He gets a bit distracted by you, though. Every so often, he finds himself focusing at you instead of the book or his notes in front of him because he wants to make sure that you’re still comfortable. He’s not one to usually watch you when you sleep but he thinks that it’s quite interesting that you can sleep so peacefully in a seemingly uncomfortable position like this. Occasionally, he also brushes a strand of hair from your forehead or caresses your cheek, careful not to wake you up.

However, Albedo knows that he has to wake you when he’s done with his work because you can’t spend the entire night in that position. He’s a bit hesitant about it though and usually apologizes with a kiss or two because he had to disturb your sleep to send you to bed.

xiao (魈)

because he spent a majority of his time in this world alone, he was without a doubt perturbed by how kind and caring you were towards him. why? what did he do to deserve such gentle treatment from you? he often asked himself. he was aware that maybe your relationship had some part in it, but was it enough?

it’d take more time for him to get used to you loving him and taking care of him. there was a period where he used to flinch whenever you coddled him or stared at you wide-eyed akin to a cat whenever you chided him for coming back to the inn slightly roughed up

“i swear once i find the treasure hoarders who did this to your pretty face, they’ll regret ever crossing paths with you,” xiao heard you grumble under your breath, as you carefully applied some ointment on the small burn on his forearm

“i’m alright. there’s no need for you to find them and endanger yourself,” he reasoned. though, it only fell upon death ears since you continued to curse his assailants with no intention of stopping

overtime, he’ll get used to it. although it didn’t mean all was well, there were times where he caught himself getting upset over your absence or fussy when you didn’t pay as much attention to him as usual, and he felt instant guilt for being so selfish

“why do you go out of your way to do this for me? what do you gain from this?” he asked one night. he immediately regretted it once he saw the incredulous yet hurt expression on your face. you didn’t even need to say it, your body language alone told him how ridiculous his question was

“i do this because i love you, xiao… a lot.”

“…you love me?” out of all the answers you could’ve given him, this was the last one he expected. xiao couldn’t believe it. you love him! to hear you confirm it hit harder than he liked, tears lined his eyes as it sunk in his head

“yes… i, uh, i do… do you, um, love me too?”

“i-i do.” he nodded, quite firmly too. “thank you for taking care of me.”

diluc ragnvindr

initially, he mistook your acts as a disgusting effort to raise your social status or for monetary gain. growing up as a noble, he was taught to be cautious of those around him. clearly, it stuck to him in his adult years.

howbeit, the longer he spoke to you, the more he saw how severely wrong he was about you. you were acting from genuine kindness, and he felt terrible for assuming otherwise

in fact, diluc was so ashamed, he treated you to dinner once… then twice… and maybe a third time as well? let’s just say something developed after those nights out ;)

still, it shocked him whenever you took time out of your day to look after him. while you were protective of him—other tycoon owners who badmouthed him in the past can vouch for this, you also didn’t hesitate to put him in his place when he was in the wrong

kaeya was so grateful for you that he started referring to you as his ‘in law’ …honestly, he took partial offense to the way people considered you a blessing. was he that difficult to be around? even adelinde began calling you the ‘other master of the house’ because he listened to you

“please, ‘luc… please…”

“later, love,” he dismissed, as he persisted to absorb every word in the document in front of him despite his aching migraine, “i’ll finish this first then i’ll head back to bed.”

you scolded, “stop being so difficult, ‘luc—you’re sick for heaven’s sake! you have a fever right now. face it, you need to rest. not work.”

“i’m fine,” he insisted, setting aside the document to face you. contrary to what he planned, he lowered his stance when he saw how serious you were. he didn’t want to upset you any further. hence, he listened and returned to bed

diluc might not say it out loud or as often as he’d like, but he’s happy to have you in his life. he had a habit of overworking himself to the brink and it felt comforting to know he had someone who reminded him to take a break from time to time. later that night, he held you tighter than he did before… adelinde wasn’t pleased to see both of her bosses sick as a dog

just some of my own albedo things i think about because i’m in love with him and i will never stop loving him

albedo who let’s you see him when he is at his most vulnerable, who let’s you see the frustration and fear when he thinks too much about the possibility of him destroying Mondstadt, the possibility of destroying you.

albedo who let’s you hold him and twirl a few strands of his ash blonde hair between your fingers as you whisper sweet nothings and affirmations to him that cause him to hold you just a tad bit tighter.

albedo who will let you take his hair and braid it for him in the late evenings or early mornings before he finishes a new experiment he’s been working on, or finishes papers he’s been writing for hours.

albedo who is so in love with you that he writes his own love poems in between tests and experiments. albedo who sometimes will read those love poems to you when you’re fast asleep, holding you close to his chest as he softly whispers each word with adoration in his eyes.

the same albedo that has tiny sketches and doodles of you on his notes and on many pages of his journal. occasionally showing ones he’s really fond of to you or sucrose, that’s not to say that he doesn’t love every single sketch he makes of you though because they’re all special in some way<33

the one and only albedo who’s chalk heart beats only for you. every little glance, softly spoken words or gentle touches from you that causes his artificial heart to beat a little faster as he thinks to himself ‘yes, this is what love feels like’
