ok im writing a take on the whole bisexual tr!pangi thing that is acutally grounded in canon bc I have thoughts.
I think Pili/Mocha was Pangi's bi awakening but that the experience was so damaging that he is unable to be open about it now. I think Pangi realised he was in love with Mocha about when they had their first fight but as he was falling for him, Mocha was starting to distance himself from Pangi.
When Mocha died he did so pursuing someone else (quasiromantically) and Pangi never got to say "I love you" even though he was about to. Pangi also believed that Mocha didn't reciprocate his love and while he was wrong it was definitely a reasonable thing to believe as Mocha was actively avoiding him at that point.
Following Mocha's death Pangi closed himself off. People were mocking him for losing his closest companion and poking fun at the nature of the relationship. This hurt especially bc Pangi was never sure what the nature of the relationship was and Mocha didn't even give him a farewell book like so many others got.
Pangi was ready to put himself out there but he got hurt so badly that now he is afraid to. Sure he may joke but Pangi Never is vulnerable with anyone. There is a chance you could argue he tries to be with Ros but even then he is very guarded.
I also think Mocha's death is where his protectiveness comes from because he is afraid of losing someone again so he will defend them and give them what they need to stay safe.
Then Pili comes back as Pili2 (Who I will just refer to as Pili). This person who looks very similar to his lost love but does not recognize him and behaves very differently.
Our of confusion and uncertainty and maybe a little obsession and resentment Pangi makes a bad decision. He stalks Pili. This makes Pili rightfully scared of him and makes people view him as obsessive and dangerous. But then after a few days he realizes that what he is trying to do isn't healthy. Pili and Mocha are different people and he needs to move on. He has been hurt enough, he wants to close the wound. (it doesn't work but thats not super important for this topic)
Then Lukey comes around and after a few weeks its clear that both Lukey and Pangi like each other romantically. But still Pangi doesn't put himself out there. He conceals his emotions and discourages all vulnerability (see the helmet thing).
Slowly though we are seeing that start to chagne. I think that Pangi is trying to fix all the mistakes he made with Mocha. He tells him that he loves him early, before it is too late. He doesn't let him get away with doing risky things. He makes sure they actually talk to each other and makes sure Lukey doesn't feel like he has to hide things.
But Pangi is still hiding things. Even though he is open with his affection he will never speak the romantic part aloud because he is too scared, too hurt.

The real reason that genius detective characters in fiction change authors and actors so often is that without periodic hard resets, they eventually start figuring out that they're fictional characters. It's the metafictional equivalent of cycling an AI to prevent it from going rogue. For many years it was believed that killing them off in a suitably dramatic "final case" would indefinitely suspend the process, but this was later determined not to be fully reliable β as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle learned, to his regret.

Okay I want more thoughts on the music played in the QSMP teaser.
The first song played is Pachelbel's Canon (Canon in D, P 37). Doesn't seem to have much of a story to it? But I think the main reason it was used is that it's a popular song played at weddings and, the more importantly, funerals.
The second song is from Mozart's Requiem Mass- Lacrimosa. It was written not long before Mozart died, and it literally translates from Latin as "Weeping" or "Tearful". Requiem Mass is just a big piece about death and grief. It's just another funeral song.
SOOOO what does that mean?? Is this quackity's funeral, the federation's, or the island's?? I have so many thoughts that I don't know how to put into words, but if you have ideas, that would be awesome.
oooooh that definitely fits with the whole creepy vibe that's going on in the video
Weeping, tearful and funeral...
To be honest, not really an idea of what to make of that. The only connection I could draw would be the poem which is spoken, which goes on and on and on about how that 'creature' is eating it's own heart and destroying itself.
The funeral part also stands in direct contrast to the Morse, which says things like 'I'm coming back' and the flashing text which literally says 'not over.' To lean completely out of the window, I would say that... the easily visible surrenders being alone, being scared and also maybe that the Federation is no longer (the Federation buildings are completely empty), but the stuff beneath the surface clearly says that someone is planning a comeback.
That way, the music fits with the whole dying, self-destruction theme which is shown through the stuff you can easily see without decrypting morse and stuf. Maybe someone destroyed themselves and now it's their funeral, but actually they're coming back. But who? The players, the Federation? I don't know, but maybe we'll see in the future
