Decorating The Tree
Decorating The Tree

decorating the tree

Lounging on the couch, a cup of your favourite brewed-styled cafe coffee in one hand and the sight of Mac bending and lifting Christmas decorations, all resulted in the perfect afternoon.

“Were you just checking me out?”. Mac asked as he continued to place a few little trinkets on the tree

“I can neither confirm or deny-”.

Mac cut your sentence short via a passion-filled kiss. “Get that cute ass of yours up and help decorate the tree”. He said, dangling a blue bauble inches from your face. “Or I’m taken it down”.

Lighting gasping, “You wouldn’t”.

“You’re right, I wouldn’t. But please, help me”.

Grabbing the shiny ornament, you spent the next hour bringing the tree to it’s full Christmas glory. While Mac added his own Christmas touch to the rest of the living room.

“Well, what do you think?”. You turned on the multi-coloured lights. Changing the setting so each light cascaded down like rain droplets.

Mac wrapped his arms around your waist, resting his chin on your shoulder. “Beautiful, couldn’t be any more perfect”.

“Are you talking about the tree or me?”.  You asked, noticing his eyes shift from you to the room as he spoke.

He turned your face towards him, whispering. “You, definitely you”.

baking cookies

This was your what you loved most about Christmas. Sure decorating the house and wrapping gifts were high on the list too, but nothing could ever beat the smell of warm, sweet baked goods. The aroma of cinnamon,  gingerbread and sugar never got old; they smelled like home.

“Something smells amazing”. Mac wandered in from the terrace. He’d been cleaning up the deck, preparing for when the team came by tomorrow evening.

“Why, thank you. They’re almost done, got one last bunch in the oven”.

“Remind me again why I couldn’t help?”.

“As great you are at MacGyvering things on the field, you’re kitchen skills need a little work, babe”. You said, softening the blow with a peck of the cheek.

Sandwiching you in between the bench and his body, Mac pouted. What you weren’t aware of, was his hand slyly reaching behind your back for a cookie, before quickly taking a moan-filled bite.

“Wow, I’m telling Santa to put you on the naughty list”.

He chuckled, breaking off a piece of the gingerbread cookie and feeding it to you. “Does that get me off the naughty list?”. Titling your head to ponder his question, Mac brought his lips closer. Softly placing them against yours before turning the small peck into a mind-numbing,  spine-tingling kiss. “What about now?”.

“Getting there, Macgyver”.  You said, biting your lip. “But stop distracting me, I still have loads to do”. Pushing him away from the kitchen.

“Fine, I have to go to help Jack set up his new TV anyway”. Leaning in for what you assumed to be one more electrifying kiss, Mac, like a true agent, snuck one more gingerbread cookie from its tray.

“Oh, come on. Are you serious?”.

“One for the road”. He called out from the hallway.

Smiling, you shook your head. Turning your attention back to the long list of recipes still to be made for Christmas dinner.

Shady Didn’t Even Begin To Describe Theo Raeken. Beneath The Charm, Good Looks And Ego; Lay A Man Harboring
Shady Didn’t Even Begin To Describe Theo Raeken. Beneath The Charm, Good Looks And Ego; Lay A Man Harboring

Shady didn’t even begin to describe Theo Raeken. Beneath the charm, good looks and ego; lay a man harboring a dark agenda. While Scott turned a blind eye, you did a little investigating on your own and found more than you bargained for.

“Following me now, babygirl?”.

“Don’t flatter yourself”.

“Then care to explain what you’re doing here?”.

“It’s a vet clinic. What are you doing here?”.

He raised an eyebrow, settling into classic bad boy mode.

“Are we going to keep on pretending, or would you like to make the first move?”.

With one swift swing Theo doubled back, dabbing his forefinger along his lip.

“Not exactly what I had in mind”.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Did you misread the signs?. I should turn you in”.

“Yeah, but you won’t. You like me too much”.

“And what makes you think that?”.

“Call it a hunch”.

The two of you stared each other down. Stubbornness and dominance preventing either from breaking the gaze first. Theo’s eyes swirled with a deep sense of thirst. Perhaps it was his usual demeanor, but as he moved a little too close for comfort, his thirst bled into what looked like hope.

“Why are you working with them?”.

“You wouldn’t understand. But if you wanna tell Scott, go ahead. I won’t stop you, babygirl”.

“Yes, you will. Because you don’t want Scott knowing who you really are before your grand plan is complete. But it doesn’t phase you I found out, why?”.

“Like I said-”. He closed what was left of the tiny gap. Theo’s breath tickled your cheek and his voice dropped to a low, raspy tone. “You like me too much”.

No one will know the violence it took to become this gentle.

just a reminder:

a black girl character growing her hair out long breaks more stereotypes than a black girl character having short hair

a black girl character getting to be soft and fragile breaks more stereotypes than a black girl character being strong all the time

a black girl character being protected and comforted by others breaks more stereotypes than a black girl character having no one to look out for her but herself

a black girl character being considered pretty or cute by other characters breaks more stereotypes than a black girl character being considered unattractive

not everything that is empowering for white girls is empowering for black girls

the sexism we face overlaps, but it is not the same
