v. happiness

happiness is waking up after getting 8 hours of sleep. 8 hours without waking up in a cold sweat, thinking of what i could have done differently. happiness is eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner with the rest of my peers, pretending to be normal for a day. happiness is going outside, bathing my bare shoulders in the sun. happiness is picking flowers and putting them behind your ears, in your shirt pocket. happiness is holding your hand and admiring the way you admire me. happiness is feeling loved and loving others. happiness is something i dream about.

fine line (the song) is lyrically just so…………i mean if you cut it up piece by piece it’s just an incredibly emotive song about the stubbornness of love. holding onto someone even though you know your relationship is causing more harm than good. giving up yourself and allowing yourself to be vulnerable for someone and expecting the same in return, but facing the disappointment when that reciprocation falls short. the longing that sets in when you just want and want but you can’t have because they won’t give it to you no matter how much you ask. crossing the lines even more with sex and physical intimacy, not knowing if it’s going to solve any problems but taking what you can get………musically it goes from the simplicity of the guitar, a relationship before the problems set in, into this gorgeous resounding orchestral flourishing finish that’s 50% exhilarating and 50% bittersweet. a fine line between happy and sad.
