"You're the West Village
You still do it for me, babe"
(false god - taylor swift)
"Got the wine for you"
(false god - taylor swift)

Wine also created this masterpiece:
"You buzzcut and my hair bleached"
(dress - taylor swift)
Did anyone else think it was weird that Karlie was asked about what's in her bag and started talking about suitcases instead? Weren't we just talking about the suitcase in the WTNY Taymoji pack? And how WTNY was a love story hidden in a song about NY? It's funny because it's a suitcase Taymoji but Taylor actually sings "bags", not "suitcases". Maybe this was Karlie's way of confirming that anon was right, and the "we" and "our" in the song are Kaylor. I always thought it was a cute take!
@9w1ft is queen of Taymojis! Love that pack too. We were just talking about it!
Lover house hallway is freaking similar to Victoria secret fashion show where Taylor meet Karlie..
Bye..... 😭
ok so I was re reading the seven husbands of evelyn hugo and on pg 184 monique asks evelyn “You thought she’d come back to you,” and evelyn says “I knew she’d come back to me,”
Back then, I still thought I had all the time I needed to do everything I wanted. That if I just played my cards right, I could have it all.”
“You thought she’d come back to you,” I say.
“I knew she’d come back to me,” Evelyn says. “And she knew it, too. We both knew our time wasn’t over.”

“Up on YOUR Roof with a Schoolgirl Crush”
In the Making of a Song video for “King of My Heart” Taylor sings the lyrics as “with all these nights we’re spending up on YOUR roof with a schoolgirl crush.”
Video - at 6:30.
So who had a rooftop in 2016 when this song was being written?
Lily’s and Karlie’s addresses were public info.
Lily’s Building
Lily’s building had a rooftop for hanging out.
In a photoshoot she did for Cass Bird and Telegraph magazine, they used Lily’s East Village neighborhood for the shoot, including up on the roof.
Karlie’s Building
Karlie’s two-story building had a garden, garden gate, and balcony but no rooftop to hang out on.
Joe’s Building
Articles report that Joe was living in Crouch End when he met Taylor. I don’t think his place had a rooftop to hang out on from photos of the area.
The Bridge
I’ve written about the “King of My Heart” lyrics in other posts, including the British, model, and wlw references, so let’s just look at the bridge here after the roof lyric.
“Drinking beer out of plastic cups”
Is this a reference to Taylor and Karlie at the Knicks game in 2014? Maybe. But the 2014 era doesn’t seem to match the rest of the song, especially since this line is after “my broken bones are mending.”
“Say you fancy me not fancy stuff”
Another British 🇬🇧 reference in a song with many British references. So this line could fit Lily or Joe.
The Making of a Song video was recorded in September 2016. The Nashville and LA scenes, including the rooftop lyric scene, were filmed September 19-21. (Link) The song appears to have been started in early September from the Cornelia Street scene at the beginning of the video and some people think it may have been started as early as August. All of this is before September 28.
I don’t like a gold rush, gold rush
I don’t like anticipating my face in a red flush
I don’t like that anyone would die to feel your touch
Everybody wants you, everybody wonders what it would be like to love you
Walk past
Quick brush
I don’t like slow motion, double vision in rose blush
I don’t like that falling feels like flying
‘Til the bone crush
Everybody wants you
But I don’t like a gold rush
