“…He is mine…”
I just wanted to see Khunbam kissing in front of Rachel… This was very self indulgent omg asdfasdgfg
it’s a pet peeve of mine to see people complaining about how Bam is a “simp” overly attached to Rachel. like, yeah, no shit he’s attached??? she is literally the only person he’s ever known at the start of the story. he was born in a fucking cave with nobody else. his life was rocks and Rachel, isolation can destroy a human, let alone growing up in it. she raised him, taught him, cared for him, fulfilled every social need he had for his entire life before promptly trying to ditch him. even more so, she intentionally manipulated him into staying in the cave and depending on her. she’s taken advantage of him time and time again for her own goals. she teaches him that betraying a girl (her) is unforgivable then repeatedly betrays him for nothing but her own benefit. Rachel wanted him to be unable to be independent and keeps tugging him along so Bam has to keep following her if he wants to learn anything about his past
he’s not a “stalker”, their relationship isn’t even hinted to be romantic, he’s just trying to understand her. he doesn’t even resent her until she hurts his friends. if your lifelong best friend pushed you off a cliff and sold you to a terrorist organization with no warning and explanation, wouldn’t YOU at least try to get some closure? he doesn’t forgive her at first because he’s “stupid” or even naïve, it’s because he’s been repeatedly abused
his primary character motivation is not wanting to be alone. he cares so much about the people around him and very little for himself since, again, abuse. I guess if you just don’t like that writing direction agree to disagree live your life but for people who think Bam’s just dumb or it’s a weird crush congrats on missing Literally The Entire Point
bam’s selfishness is one of my favorite character contradictions and is also in general a really good take on the “selfless chosen one” and “hero who wants to save everyone”. people are not going to like me calling bam selfish, but he is. at different times in the series he’s selfish enough to want to save everyone, selfish enough to put himself first, selfish enough to pretend he wants to save everyone, and selfish enough to put first the people he cares about even at the detriment of strangers. the moral inconsistencies caused by the disconnect between his innate compassion and the inherent selfishness that comes with being a human is one of the most fascinating and most nuanced things about him, giving him a depth that’s not really seen in action protags with their moral superiority.
Ya know, at this point in the manga, Khun should really just put a tracker on Baam. A microchip, some sort of piercing or jewelry that most people wouldn't think to remove. He gets kidnapped, separated, hijacked? No sweat, two seconds, got him.
I don't condone tracking people, but it's a safety precaution at this point in the story. Lol
Me trying to explain tog’s lore to my friends
“I wish I could have met baam before you did” au
Thinking about how Bam has been dehumanized multiple times by people and the system in Tower of God, only seeing him as a weapon or a monster. We even get from Rachel that his own mom saw him as a monster. And now his father is doing the exact same thing.
His parents only ever saw him as a vessel for revenge. They don’t care about Bam himself.
And the fact that this is happening in front of Khun and Endorsi, the two people who’ve purported Bam’s existence as his own is even more insane. They have to watch the one they love be puppeted around by a random ass man
