And I need to rant about Slavic names in podcasts. It's not hate, I enjoy the show and the way it's written, I just think it might be somewhat educational to write my thoughts down.
Dude there is no way there was ever a guy named Elijah in Arkhangelsk. I think they were going for Илья (Ilya if transliterated)???
I just need you to understand that the population of Arkhangelsk is less than 300.000 people. It is as far as I'm aware a city mostly celebrated for it's military heritage. So quite conservative as you can tell (as are most of Russian cities). I can believe in a guy from Moscow named Elijah. But Arkhangelsk😭😭😭???
And it's not me being a hater, honestly! If anything I'm delighted. I like the guy so far (as an interesting character. He is obviously going to be super evil). But it's just something that I've noticed about podcasts and slavic people. The names usually are either just incorrect or being used incorrectly. The most noticeable example being Nikola Orsinov, as I'm sure some are aware.
I don't know what it is that causes all these mistakes and I would really like to find out. I am aware that Slavic languages may be confusing (esp the ones using Cyrillic alphabet) but I believe it takes about as much as a quick Google to find the essential information such as the usage of surnames with the right endings and transliterated Slavic names. And I don't think it's a lot to ask for.
These characters represent Slavic people whether they were intended to or not. And being represented carelessly is not a pleasant thing. I understand that my little manifesto here won't be a game changer. But if I am able to get to as much as a single person reading this I shall be greatful.
Thanks! Please don't come for my head! Love ya!

Hannibal Lecter / Season 2
You know, in 2020 they tortured Warren in the name of science. In 2064 they're just being assholes.
Spoilers for S4E3 under the cut.
Like DUDE maybe you don't want to argue with this poor godforsaken man (who's done nothing but MOURN his best and only friend since he emerged) about who knows the said friend best? I get it, it's your special little interest, but can we bring being empathetic back? As for Aubrey... Well, I don't know, maybe don't bring someone back into the world on someone else's funeral party. And don't be mad when the person who knows nothing about this world comes to you for the answers that YOU said you were going to give.
Warren wouldn't feel so alone if people were just nicer to him. It's not like he doesn't deserve some basic kindness. Because apparently people can be nice to someone like Malcolm but Warren just can't catch a break, can he? They're gonna torture this poor man forever I tell you.
as an environmental sciences major i have to applaud hannibal for his environmental consciousness. he boycotts the meat industry, provides innovative solutions for overpopulation and once murdered a councilman that built a parking lot over the natural habitat of endangered species and put him on display on said parking lot. very iconic behaviour, we could all learn from it

I'm making a playlist with rock versions of Christmas songs for my English classes entertainment program. I'm truly in my Gordon Porlock era.
