Why is it so hard for people to be empathic towards others? Like not even just strangers cause, sure you’re gonna meet a dick every now and then, but like family?
My sibling could not understand the fact that I cannot sleep in a “normal” schedule. I literally cannot fall asleep at night if I am not exhausted from staying up way too long. If I try to go to sleep before midnight, I won’t fell asleep and just roll around in bed and get anxious for not sleeping in the correct time and then be awake even a longer time. I have cried so many nights cause I was stressed about sleep.
I was certain that people could understand that all of us are different people and that sleeping schedules do not always fall in the correct way, but no. They were adamant that I just haven’t tried enough and that I could fix my sleep by just going to be earlier, but like no? Wouldn’t one think that if I have had these issues since I was born that I have tried to fix it? I haven’t been twiddling my thumbs about this. Being undiagnosed ADHD is already bad enough, not getting sleep is even worse.
I pulled out so many different researches and different medical diagnosis, but no. Nothing. They have never had issues with sleep, so ig it just doesn’t exist ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It’s also so much fun to explain that cause of ADHD there is stuff that I just cannot do. I just cannot make myself do them and there is no way to go around it. There is a mental block that keeps me not doing stuff. I just don’t get it why can’t people understand that sometimes people just can’t. There is no way to push forward and sometimes there is just stuff that cannot be done. Thank god for the meds helping a little bit with the mental block and all. I’m just so tired of needing to explain myself every time that there is a conversation.
True lmaoooo
there is NOTHING like the rage of searching for a post you KNOW is on your blog with a highly specific phrase and then not only can this website not find it but tumblr says something fucking stupid like ‘please don’t be mad. please’
Love it ^^

bonus:
disabled people who do not directly "contribute" to society and need large amounts of care and resources to survive deserve not only to survive but to have comfort, stability, and fun within their lives while they do. no compromises.
People straight up do not realize that part of the reason manufacturing is not returning to the United States in massive waves is because we have things like “OSHA” and “environmental laws” and “minimum wages.”
It’s not even just about fair wages. It’s literally about the fact that you can’t dump industrial waste in a river here anymore.
Our cheap goods are so cheap because South American and Asians environments are being destroyed so you can buy a $40 pair of shoes every 3 months.
Cutting granite countertops has lead to a rapid increase in silicosis in the lungs out in California. All the working men and women in my family have died from pulmonary fibrosis. They were carpet layers, Post office workers, floor tilers. Staying safe in manufacturing jobs is annoying but also very, very expensive. Real manufacturing factories belch smoke and dust and grime that causes asthma and birth defects in surrounding communities. Everyone wants their manufacturing jobs back until they realize their kids are living directly under the Asthma Plant.
There will come a time when the workers in these countries rise up and demand better and things will start to even out, but if you want to honestly “do your part,” you gotta stop buying cheap shit for no reason.
Not every event needs to be celebrate with a baseball cap or a coozie or a t shirt or a keychain. Not every wall in the house has to have a picture or a cute phrase on it. The knickknacks are killing people.
Y’know when your chronic illness decides to be chronic and an illness? Yeah that’s actually bullying and bullying is bad so I’d like to take my chronic illness to court for harassment.
my favorite celebrity non-controversy was when lorde wanted to express her love of baths so she posted a picture of her bathtub captioned “and iiiiiiiiiii will always love youuuuu” not realizing that whitney houston died in a bathtub
Here is your mission.
More importantly, you don't need to know which it is to practice self-care.
Self-caring anxiety and overstimulation looks the same:
Recognize you're feeling big feelings
Take as many deep breaths as your need to slow your mind
Identify what’s causing the feeling, whether sensory, environmental, or situational
Minimize that cause as much as possible immediately
Self-caring depression and understimulation looks the same:
Recognize you’re in need of stimulation
Turn on an interesting long-form video of some kind
Do some quick exercise like a walk or jumping jacks
Call a friend that'll let you infodump
If you're neurodivergent and easily get stuck on labelling things — I see you.
I'm here to remind you that you don't need to know what it is to take care of it in the meantime.
You can — will — figure it out later.

Some women are conditioned to be fragile and weak, and to believe that it's a sin to outperform a man. Her feminism would involve allowing women to be strong.
Some women are expected to be strong at times when they can't. Her feminism would involve reassuring her that it's okay to not be strong.
Some neurodivergent people are raised to believe that they're too stupid to ever amount to anything. Their disability activism would involve reassuring them that they're capable.
Some neurodivergent people are raised to believe that they're smart and gifted, and are expected to live up to impossible standards. Their disability activism would involve allowing them to fail, make mistakes, be stupid, etc.
Some children are constantly reminded "you're the child, I'm the adult" in order to deny their autonomy. Their youth rights activism would involve treating them like an adult at times when they feel ready for it.
Some children are treated like adults in order to justify increased expectations or to downplay abuse against them. Their youth rights activism would involve allowing them to be a child.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution to oppression. Each individual person's experience is different. Whatever trauma is caused by their oppression, the activism should focus on undoing it.
