No but fr, like how do they not act alike ???

Everyone is scared or intimated by Percy when they first met him, kinda like Hobie when we first see him in across the spider verse. Like even before we met him we were feeling kinda small compared to him. Turns out they're a chill dude. Like they are so similar. I love them both for a reason.

'Hobie Brown dosen't act like Percy Jackson though'YOU MEAN THE 'I'm not a hero because yourself a hero makes you self-mythologizing' GUY?!

Every time I try to read up on osdd/did, I get sleepy ๐Ÿ’€

I'm imagining the system sounding a warning bell and waggling its fingers at me going "you're feeling veeeeery sleepy~ none of this is interesting at allllll~"

"Actually many disabled people do contribute to society" is not a great argument against eugenics, by the way.

This has the potential to become the most funny bit in season 8b

Maddie was so real when she asked Buck โ€œIs it circled with a heart around it?โ€ about Eddieโ€™s calendar and him freaking out and complaining about Eddie hanging out with someone else that isnโ€™t him and then later when he invites Chimney to the basketball game and Chimney realizes why and he tells Buck โ€œSo Iโ€™m your basketball beard. I feel so bonded.โ€ like poor Madney suffering because Buck canโ€™t seem to put two and two together now

The things I would do for a cocky Eddie Diaz. "Tommy called me competition? Hahaha that's funny, he really believes he'd have a chance if I wanted to play?"

I love talking to kids about disability bc

1. they often just Get It, and

2. they have 0 concept of disability as a tragedy or something pitiable.

I've watched kids get into an argument with a teacher bc they thought wheelchairs were cool. I told a kid that I can't stand for too long sometimes and they replied, "That's okay, I can't do cartwheels sometimes, but I just do other stuff then. You can sit down with me if you want". Today a girl asked me what the headphones on a classmate's desk were for and I told her that headphones are important for some kids because noises bother them, and she said she wished she had headphones at home, because her baby brothers make a lot of noise and it makes it hard to think. The idea that different people could use tools at different times is intuitive and simple and when accessibility aids are explained neutrally, kids don't see them as bad or unfortunate, they're just things that are useful.

Even mental disability!! In Kindergarten the other day one of the kids asked me why his table partner got stickers when nobody else did. I started off by saying, "Well, when you do your work well, it feels good, right? That's your brain giving you a reward," and the kid just right away went, "Oh, and the stickers are like his reward?" YES! You are 5 and have a better grasp on ADHD than most adults! Kids blow me away every day.

one time when I was a barista I was telling my coworker that I suddenly really missed cows. I used to work with cows all the time back home and then I moved away and suddenly it had been four years and nary a cow.

15 minutes later this old guy came up to the counter with his address written on a napkin & he said โ€œme and my wife have a whole herd of dexters and a couple of new calves. come on over any timeโ€

so after work I was like ok fuck it & I drove to the address and I parked at at the gate & I walked down the driveway to the barn and this woman was like โ€œoh my husband told me you might stop by! come see our cowsโ€ and she introduced me to every single cow. made my whole week.

thank you cow couple

my favorite celebrity non-controversy was when lorde wanted to express her love of baths so she posted a picture of her bathtub captioned โ€œand iiiiiiiiiii will always love youuuuuโ€ not realizing that whitney houston died in a bathtub

i've seen quite a bit of confusion about this, so let me attempt to clear things up :

empathy is the ability to feel somebody's emotions as though they are affecting you personally. for example, somebody tells you "my dog died last night!" -> you now feel as though you've lost a pet personally -> you feel grief and sadness just like the other person. not everyone has empathy. it's a trait some people develop and others don't. some have high empathy, some have low empathy, some (like me) have none.

sympathy is the ability to understand and care about somebody else's struggles, even if you don't feel them yourself. so, somebody tells you their dog died -> you realize how this affects them emotionally -> you care about this person, and are upset that they are suffering. not everyone has sympathy either! it's a scale, just like empathy.

compassion is doing something to relieve another person's suffering or make them feel better. somebody tells you their dog died -> you don't want them to remain upset -> you come up with ways to help them feel better, like offering comfort and distractions, or other forms of support. compassion is a learned trait, not something you can be born with like empathy or sympathy. anyone can learn to be compassionate, although some may struggle more with it than others; it's a skill, just like anything else.

however, none of these are required to be a good person. that's a choice you make on your own accord. i hope this clears things up!

hey when a disabled person says theyre tired, theyre most likely lying. what they mean is that they are so utterly EXHAUSTED that theyre struggling to function.

i suffer with terrible fatigue as part of my condition and i find it hard to partake in hobbies i enjoy, nevermind hardwork, when it hits. which is a lot of the time. i sometimes sleep 10+ hours a night and still have to take a nap.

before i started seeing doctors abt my condition, people would always ask how i am when i was at work and when id answer id always get 'youre always tired!'

the worst one was the guy who turned round to me and went 'you dont have kids, you dont know what tired is.'

girl, if most able-bodied people were operating at the levels i operate at most days, they wouldnt have the energy to get out of bed or feed themselves. some days i cant do that and i live like this every day. some days i become so exhausted i cannot form words.

idk man chronic fatigue is not just 'being tired all the time'. its debilitating. imagine not eating because you dont have the energy to lift cutlery or chew. imagine being so drained that you physically cannot talk. imagine having to wait until someone else is home to go to the bathroom because you dont have the energy to get there alone.

some of us live like this and when you measure our worth based on what we contribute, it becomes a depressing existence.
