The ShotBlocker

I’m a trypanophobic, meaning I am afraid of needles. My phobia has caused me to put off or completely avoid injections out of fear. However, recently I found something that helps immensely, the ShotBlocker, by Bionix.

From Bionix’s website,

’Bionix ShotBlocker® is an innovative device that instantly alleviates the pain and anxiety of needle injections. ShotBlocker® works through a novel application of the gate control theory of pain management. It is a plastic, C-shaped device with small bumps on its back. When pressed firmly against the skin at the injection site, ShotBlocker® saturates the sensory nerves and distracts the patient from pain signals caused by the needle poke. The device is both simple and easy to use, bringing comfort to users of all ages.’

My doctor had no problems administering the shot, and I felt no pain. I don’t mean that as in ‘just a small sting’, I mean that the needle felt just like one of the plastic nubs. Absolutely no pain at all. I was stunned.

Of course, it doesn’t get rid of the anxiety/dizziness/nausea that I get during injections. But with time, I think I’ll be able to train myself out of that.

You can buy them on Bionix’s website for 5.99 USD, I think I got mine from Amazon for a few cents less. They’re reusable and relatively inexpensive. I’d recommend them to anyone.

FINALLY. IT IS DONE!!!! socpens killed the radio tv, a rotoscope animation from just dance’s video killed the radio star. i’ve been working on this for the past few weeks and i am honestly just.. so happy with how it turned out. i wouldn’t have been able to finish it without my friend aly @chmkysii who helped color the frames!

In the vast world of comics, I wonder if there have been heroes with a “Groundhog Day,” type power. By that I specifically mean a hero who, if they die, immediately finds themselves waking up at the beginning of that day again. If they don’t die, they just continue forward through time.

I’m just thinking of how crazy it would be to have that hero on your super hero team. Like, you go to headquarters in the morning, and it seems like everything’s normal. But then you go to fire off a one liner, and they say it at the same time as you. And suddenly you know. Something went wrong.

And then one day you come in, and your heart drops as you see that their every move looks rehearsed. They answer questions before asked. They are totally aware of everything that’s about to happen. Imagine how scary that would be, realizing you’re starting a day that you’re team mate has failed to survive maybe dozens of times.

Every case of Connectifia Abortus is unique. No two victims share the exact same set of symptoms. It almost feels personalized. Malicious.

Middlesea Hospital’s new Intern, despite being unable to connect to anyone in any meaningfully human way, has fully immersed themself in their work. The patients are of their utmost priority, and their coworkers aren’t far behind. Every clash with Connectifia leads to side effects that only grow stronger with time, but does that matter when there’s patients to treat? Lives to save? Any good person would keep on pushing. Besides, every moment in Middlesea is a moment where they mean something. After all, they’re the only one who can do what they do.

Does it shock anyone, then, when even their dreams feel like waking nightmares? Every fiber of their being is inseparable from their work. They are the perfect machine. They do not get to rest. Every night they jolt to life strapped with wires into a metal cage, and they absolutely cannot let anybody know.

TLDR my Intern inverts the “robot slowly becoming more human” trope. Connectifia has permanently intwined them with the Rhythm Doctor Program, and it’ll likely only keep getting worse. When trapped in the machine, there is no video feed, as there is nothing to show.
