Culturally, Dwarves place great value on storytelling, visual arts, and personal expression. Carving, painting, and storytelling are integral parts of community life, and many important events are marked with communal gatherings and storytelling.
Tattoos and braiding are also deeply significant. Both sexes grow facial and head hair, and this hair is a source of pride. It's common to see Dwarves with elaborately braided hair adorned with beads and charms. These beads carry symbolic weight, marking major life achievements like completing a coming-of-age ritual, raising children, or achieving mastery in a craft.
They live in cold climates, and their physiology reflects this: they have thick fur and tend to be shorter and stockier than humans, conserving heat efficiently. Their homes are primarily subterranean, dug into earth and rock. However, they also build above-ground structures using wood and stone. Settlements focus on function and community over grandeur.
Their diet consists mostly of vegetation and insects, though they are capable of eating meat in times of scarcity. They practice agriculture and cultivate various crops, and also keep domesticated animals ā some for companionship, others for practical use like warmth, protection, or pest control.
As marsupials, their reproductive process is quite different from humans. They give birth to underdeveloped joeys, which continue to grow in the parentās pouch. Dwarves (like some kangaroos) have two uteruses- one embryo can be carried in the pouch, while another remains in delayed development in the second uterus. This allows for a staggered cycle of birth and care. Young Dwarves gradually gain independence and are raised communally, with extended family and neighbors contributing to their upbringing.
Their social roles are flexible and can be shaped by skill, age, or experience rather than rigid gender norms. Celebrations often involve communal meals, storytelling, singing, and symbolic rituals like bead-giving or new tattoos.
(More art will be out soon! Please ask questions if you have questions!)
Yes I know this is a complicated question
Edit: I specifically mean canon Bruce (mainly comics), not fanon!
Response to @mesmerizms !:
In the initial art I did, I was a bit lazy with the saddle drawing, but Iāve made this to clarify some things!
Hereās a strider without a saddle, a strider with only a saddle blanket, a strider with a blanket and a saddle, and a strider with reins.
Thereās lots of room for different colours and patterns on the blanket, including tassels like the one in the picture! Thereās now a saddle horn and reins to hold onto (although Iām not sure how feasible they are), as well as stirrups.
Keep in mind, Iām basing this off of my prior knowledge + some cursory research. Iāve never ridden a horse or any other animal š

Go follow this account! Theyāre new to Tumblr, but their work is amazing- they have a truely unique style of artwork and their worldbuilding projects are so interesting!! I canāt wait to see more art from them in the future š
The witches. First post here on Tumblr about my worldbuilding project: Encounters In The Frontier.
The witches are the goblin equivalent in my world, but with some peculiarities.
Male witches have a smaller nose, and bigger ears and chin, while female witches can be recognized by their huge nose, this is because only female witches develop the special organ in their nose that they use to make their potions. This organ is similar to the lymphoid organs of humans, but they produce a special kind of antibodies that act more like digestive enzymes. These enzimes can be created on the go when in contact with a new substance and seem to be controled by the witch by some kind of 6th sense. The coating of this cavity can also change depending on its content (acidic, basic etc...). This potion making nose organ gains function after puberty and becomes larger and more powerful the more its used.
Witches live in small groups in wich all of the females are related and males leave after maturity to enter a new group, thus, genetic exchange is secured. This also means that some female-only traditions, such as potion recipes are passed down and kept in these family groups. Their society is matriarchal and the leader is the oldest female with the largest nose.
Their inmune system is very overpowered wich makes them immune to most diseases and parasites but also prone to lethal autoinmune problems. This sadly means that when a plage affects human settlements and cattle but not witches, they are blamed for it.
In their religion, witches believe to be "failed" birds that will reincarnate in a full avian form in heaven. They believe their infants are shamefully unshelled and hide pregnancy and infancy carefully, so much so that most humans and male witches don't know what a baby witch looks like. Witch babies are usually kept in a special hut until all of their baby fur is gone and only then are they introduced to the world. This period of seclusion usually lasts about 4 months and is the equivalent of incubation.
Witch mothers grow thick hair on torso and back after giving birth so that their babys can latch onto it and feed their Young not with milk but with a special kind of nutritious snot.
Witch houses/nests are mainly weaved from dry grass, branches and rope and hanged between canes or tree branches. Some can get really big or be made of stone but its rare.
