Death hates you as their ex SO MUCH and NEVER WANT TO SEE YOUR FACE AGAIN. You never die, problem solved.
She took my ability to die in the divorce
John looks at the kid. Is he going to do it? Is he going to be the responsible adult? No, that sounds horrible. And it isn't effecting the kid anyway...
But it's a bad example... And he can't let the kid get away with stealing his flask, right? Yeah, he's being petty, not responsible. Right? Right.
I am positively feral of the idea that John Constantine is an ex of both Maddie and Jack Fenton. Imagine the possibilities. They’re endless.
He doesn't help people, he doesn't. If he tried he'd just fuck up the kid's life.
...Aaand his exes are talking about various war crimes they'd like to commit on the denizens of the Infinite Realms in explicit detail while one of said denizens, their child, looks both uncomfortable and resigned.
...Shit. Shit shit shit. He's got black hair and blue eyes, he can just drop him off with Bats. John won't get attached, right?
...Right?
I am positively feral of the idea that John Constantine is an ex of both Maddie and Jack Fenton. Imagine the possibilities. They’re endless.

For @st-whalefall from chapter seven of their story In the Hall of the Mountain King. Dialogue taken straight from their story. It's a really amazing read!
Bruce had a habit. He checked on his kids every night before he went to sleep. To know they were home. They were safe. Their wounds had been tended to, their nerves soothed, and they could rest peacefully. Bruce couldn't truly sleep well without knowing his children were okay.
It was a full house that night, with even Jason aquescing to spend the night, if only for 'Alfie's award winning blueberry pancakes' as he put it. So he peeked in to see his children, to reassure himself, to see them breathe.
Dick was an artful tangle of limbs, squishy bat plush held snugly against his chest. Jason had a book on his nightstand with the lamp still on. Bruce turned it off for him. Tim was asleep face down on his desk. Bruce shuffled the sleep deprived teenager to his bed before tucking him in. Cass was sleeping peacefully, guarded by her army of stuffed animals. Bruce smiled and closed the door. Damian was asleep, Titus curled up around his young owner. Well, at least he hadn't brought Batcow to his bed this time. Duke had forgotten to close his blackout curtains, which Bruce did for him. The young daytime vigilante deserved as much undisturbed rest as he could get. Next room, open the door-
Bruce barely had enough time to remember that no one lived in this room before he registered someone face down on the bed. He didn't turn on the light, and instead crept forward, letting his eyes adjust to the dark and see for him.
Black haired teenager, slightly younger than Tim, breathing slowly and deeply. It wasn't how the child showed up in what was supposed to be a secure location that concerned him. It wasn't his vaguely bedraggled state or dark eyebags that were apparent even when he was asleep. No what truly concerned him were the bruises Bruce could see.
Purpling marks around his thin wrist in the shape of a far larger hand. Bruises and small cuts on his forearms, the kind Batman would see on someone who had tried to protect themselves. And a large bruise on the child's cheek, the kind he had seen on his own children when someone got in a good punch to the face. But he'd also seen it on other children. Children who were scared, and alone, and betrayed by the people who were supposed to take care of him. Bruce felt a sinking ceartinty that there were more wounds he couldn't see on the teenager.
The detective in him wanted to wake the kid up. Learn everything he could, get his answers, assess a potential threat.
The father in him... said that this kid had no one to check on him at bedtime. To adjust his blankets, turn off his lights, close the curtains, make sure he was happy, safe.
Bruce looked at this thin, bruised child, and pulled a blanket up to the teenager's shoulders. Questions could wait until tommorow. Until then, Bruce hoped the kid slept soundly in what may have been the safest place they'd been in a while.
decided to rewatch the Million Dollar Ghost episode and… guys. Vlad says the skeleton key (used later on to free Pariah Dark) can be used to “travel to any realm”.
…why don’t we use the key for crossover shenanigans???
Danny, too tired to phase back into the house, mixes up his house key and the skeleton key and accidentally steps through the doorway into a Completely Different World and just has to Deal With That with 0 preparation, almost no powers due to how tired he is, and like 2 hours of sleep in the past 4 days.
This leads to a very very tired Danny collapsing into the first bed he finds.
…Who’s bed it is depends on the crossover you want, but just think of the POSSIBILITIES of “finds Danny in their bed” being the first meeting.
Oh, oh, what it another reason he doesn't express anger as the Captain is because he knows what it's like to be afraid of an adult. He's been the victim of angry adults more than once. And he NEVER wants to be that person.
He never wants anyone to be afraid of him like he was afraid of his uncle/foster parents/police/people who've had to much to drink/etcetera.
He volunteers as Captain Marvel, and one of those places is a soup kitchen. Everytime he hands someone afraid some food with a smile, and gets them to smile back, he's on top of the world. That's what being a hero is to him.
He refuses to ruin that with an ill-timed scowl.
Billy doesn't express any form of anger in the Captain form. He's scared to. He's scared that he could hurt someone, kill someone, if he isn't careful.
The Justice League see him as a Superman type– Always happy with never ending optimism. Billy is optimistic, yes, but not in the way that he presents to the Justice League. The Captain is 'everything is okay, and everything will keep being okay', whereas Billy is 'everything is f^cked, but we can fix it if we try'.
The Justice League only see flashes of it. A glare when Batman announces spending thousands, if not millions, on improvements for the Watchtower, looks of envy when everyone talks about food and clothes. They think it's because he lives in the Rock of Eternity, and can't have these things.
They don't realise the reason until they finally meet Billy, and realise that he's a literal homeless child.
Danny shows up and he is having the best. Time. Of. His. Life/afterlife. Lady Gotham loves him, she is being very accommodating and always makes sure he has a good spot to see Vlad's face get kicked in.
One time Vlad approached him in Gotham, and all Danny had to do was yell 'STRANGER DANGER' and every single Bat of Gotham converged. Every. Single. One.
Most never patrol during the day. Most never patrol all at the same time. They're almost never all in the same area. But today, for the purpose of dog piling a billionare, they do so.
Danny is having the best. Day. EVER.
No, literally.
Vlad avoids Gotham like the plague, because Gotham's spirit despises the man.
Every single time he's gone to that city, awful things happen to him. Just him.
Joker attack? He's the only one that gets hurt.
Scarecrow attack? He's the only one that gets tripped up and exposed to the fear gas.
Muggings? Every single mugger somehow ends up in his path, and it's in front of others, so he can't go ghost on them.
Robberies? Every single bank he goes to gets robbed, he never gets that transaction.
Littering? Every person who litters and throws trash out their car accidentally hits him.
Sinkhole? Only where he's standing, in public, so he can't fly.
The Bats keep getting the sense that something is intrinsically wrong with the man, so they keep stalking him. Red Hood doesn't even bother to try to hide it, he just stands four feet away from Masters at all times, staring at him until someone comes to take over the stalking.
Every single two-bit thug sees Vlad Master's face and is just "ah, yes. I must damage it in any way possible, this is law."
The citizens of Gotham love it when Vlad Masters shows up, because the man somehow absorbs like, all of the shit luck in the city and things get a little more peaceful for everyone else.
I'm sure that this has been done before, but:
Earth Diplomat: Lee the Tea Server?
Zuko:*Takes off apron, puts on crown*
Earth Diplomat: Firelord Zuko the Tea Server?!
We all making jokes about Zuko working at the tea shop as firelord, and how humble he is towards his servants. But what if a diplomat from the earth kingdom shows up one day and catches Zuko in a more casual outfit while being ushered through the palace. The diplomat mentions something about how Lee must be very good at making tea if he was sent all the way to the fire nation and asks to be served during the meeting. Not one to turn down an offer Zuko obliges and disappears off into the kitchen. The diplomat sits down at the meeting table, awaiting the arrival of the firelord when his tea arrives. He pours a cup for everyone sat around the table including the firelord. The diplomat inquiries when the firelord will be joining, to which Zuko responds by sitting in the throne at the head of the table.
YES. Your story DOES matter. It wouldn’t exist without you. You are in charge of bringing it to life because other writers don’t possess your style / voice. You are the only person capable of creating your story.
You are an unique, creative, worthy human being. Go show the world what you’re capable of.
Yo! I'm Lira, she/her, LiraBuswavi on Ao3, and I'm just here to have a good time. The header is fanart I received for a fanfic I wrote! Check out @doodlesforfics, they're an amazing artist.
