This wasn’t the last place Leo wanted to be at. It was a Masquerade. How timeless and niche, and Leo adored timeless and niche. He liked it enough to choose the black and gold leather mask, shaped and painted as a lion and its’ mane. But when he began to read the details and realized it was for charity, he was immediately put off. He was possessive over his hard earned money, over his wife’s hard earned money, to give it away in a way that didn’t serve him directly.
Was I a bad person? Leo thought, leaning against the table some more as he stared hard at the blank space beside the dollar sign. He was suppose to donate. It was good to donate. And definitely was the better choice between volunteering and donating. Especially to a group that had tried to help him when he was growing up in the system. But still look at where all the help had got him. He turned to the nearest person next to him, his eyes making a show to glaze over their mask as he took their appearance in. Then he took a glance at their respective donation slip. “Hey, do you think five dollars is enough?” He chimed.

Something in the way he was looking at her was making her head spin. No matter how much she tried to stay in the present here, and no matter how many times both of them mentioned how much time had passed, he was still looking at her the same way he used to. And her heart was still skipping a beat the same way it used to. And she hated that she couldn’t stop it - even if she didn’t hate the feeling, at all.
Just as she was beginning to fall into her all-too-familiar pit of guilt over cheating on him, he winked and grinned, and she rolled her eyes and laughed, and whatever year it was, they were there together. He was way too fucking charming for his own fucking good, and he knew it. She’d never put up with that shit from anyone else, but… it was Leo. So. She stole some of his popcorn, arm brushing against his, and stopped fighting it - at least for now.
Reality would hit them eventually, but it could wait until the lights came back on.
“I doubt you’d want to hear an actual explanation… even if I had a good one,” she said, watching as the monochrome movie light flickered on his face. She wondered whether to tell him that cheating on him had been the only real regret she’s ever had in her otherwise free-spirited life. But she was sure he knew. And anyway, what he said next confused her into momentary silence.
It’s silly to expect that kind of commitment, he said, and she raised an eyebrow at him. “This, from the man in the legally binding committed relationship,” she said. She hadn’t really wanted to bring it up again, preferring to live in the past, in the dark… but part of her knew that if she didn’t say it out loud, they could easily slip a little too far backwards.
He said that she didn’t need anyone, and even if it wasn’t entirely true, she loved that he still saw her that way. She’d always prided herself on her independence, choosing who got to be around her because she wanted them there, not because she needed anything from them. It had turned out not to be quite that simple, in the end, but she still liked it, as a concept.
“It’s good to have constants, though, isn’t it? I’ve got a good support system, like my mom and my best friend. …A new best friend though, I got rid of Tori. She turned out to be a total asshole, just like you always said she was,” she smirked. “It’s probably kind of nice, though, to have a person who’s always there for you, and who you’re always there for. Is it?”
-
Leo had purposefully adjusted himself in his seat to face towards her rather than the film. He had done the same with the popcorn, offering it to her as well as offering all of his attention. “You don’t have to explain. It happened and we were so young.” He said, trying to avoid finding that wound and licking it. It had hurt. It him so bad losing that ounce of integrity when it came to trust. He hardly had it to begin with. But above it all, it hurt losing her. Looking at her now, it panged a bit to see how much he had missed in her life and how much he missed her in his own life. Serenity had been the only one to reach him to his core, and he kept it that way since. Even though he was now married.
Leo laughed at her mentioning the severity of commitment marriage was then he glanced down at that shiny ring around his finger. How long had he worn it till it stopped meaning anything to him? Would admitting he was an unfaithful husband give him a chance to turn back time for a night? Should he take that risk? “It is nice when I do get to see her.” He confessed, showing his current point of view of his marriage without being too detailed. “Constantly missing each other is probably not the constant you’re describing.” His loneliness finding its’ way out with his words. Being lonely and insatiable were the fundamentals to his catastrophic nature. No statement had ever been more true for the orphan. They were his demons then, and they were still his now. Still he managed to his head around what she mentioned about her best friend situation. He grinned because he loved hearing that he was right, of course. “Told you she was. How’d you figure that? And anything else in the span of the ten years we’ve been apart that I’ve been right about?” He gloated so openly, a smile on his face as he sunk into himself more comfortably in her presence.

Honestly? After being in acting school from 18 until 22 she had enough experience in her eyes and she didn’t really liked acting coaches. She always thought they were quite snoby but, her director wanted her to go to one and if this is what it took to become a Broadway actress, she’ll do it. The role was of Fanny Brice from Funny girl. Getting into a role this big, getting into Barbra Streisand’s shoes was huge. Delilah was a lucky girl and she will never screw this up. As she arrived to class she felt her heart beating fast. “Uh-yes, this is me! I need some help with a role I got.” She said as she placed the Broadway play on the teacher’s desk “This is a huge role and I need to be the best.”
-
“Of course, you do.” Leo said with a tight smile, climbing off of the student’s desk. All actors always thought the same way. The need to surpass the ordinary, and still find themselves unsatisfied. He looked over at the play she had set down. His face instantly scrunched at the title. Funny Girl? His brown eyes shot up at the obviously attractive blonde and blue eyes woman before him, “I’m sorry, but what the hell do you know about being the ugly duckling?” He said incredulously, still looking her over. “Who cast you as Fanny? Because then I’d have a shot at playing Danny Zuko with that director.”

He sounded genuine enough. And he certainly looked like he meant what he was saying. But she couldn’t shake the knowledge that his wife had probably also believed him when he spoke to her like this. Not to mention, she’d seen him yell at Blake and punch a wall mere minutes before looking at her like she was a gift from God. So she remained skeptical, looking at him through narrowed eyes.
“I don’t want to talk to you,” she said bluntly, climbing the steps and getting her keys out of her pocket. “…But I know that we have to.” She hesitated, with the keys in her hand. Inviting him in seemed so… maybe intimate wasn’t the right word, but it was all she could think. This was her home. Her safe place for Max. Leo felt like a stranger now, did she really want to let him in? “I was going to order a pizza. You still pile everything on yours like a crazy person?”
-
Leo nearly held his breath as he watched her face. It was like he was memorizing it just incase. He felt his stomach tense at her blunt words. He deserved that. He deserved worse. Her next words caused him to finally take a full breath. But then he stared at her, not realizing he had gone from being shut out to being asked if his pizza order was the same. "Erm,” he made a disgruntled noise that he pulled off to be one of offense than confusion. “Supreme pizza is not crazy. It’s genius.” He said quite stubbornly. He obviously believed wanting everything wasn’t a crime, though that logic only worked best with pizza. “Does that mean I’m invited to your pizza party...?” He asked, his eyes darting to her door and then to her. He had to admit this was much more than he was expecting.

When Mia has asked someone random, she wasn’t expecting him to be so good looking. For a split second, she had forgotten why she approached him in the first place. Mia was grateful that he didn’t reject her request. If she had to go to someone else, it would’ve been obvious that she was trying to stay away and it could’ve gone worse.”Maybe.” her eyes never left his when his arm wrapped around her. Her own free hand grazing up his arm and resting on the back of his neck. Her fingers, gently brushing the ends of his hair.
At his question, her eyes shifted to the male that continued to watch. It was clear he was getting upset that she was now in the arms of someone else but he wasn’t budging. “Still watching.” Her eyes flickered back to Leo for a moment. “I think this might make it believable. Sorry about this.” she murmured, as her eyes then fell to his lips and leans in to press hers against his.

Picking up chemistry with his unexpected co-star was such an simple feat. The longer she was in his arms, the more comfortable he was in the role. It also scratched his ego in the same way her fingers did at the nape of his neck. This was completely fine. He was doing such a good deed and a free drink to act? It was much more than any audition would give him nowadays.
They were putting on a good show for the audience of one, a scorn drunk man who couldn’t take the hint. Or at least, Leo thought they were doing enough, but apparently intimate gazes and touches weren’t doing it. Her apology had barely registered in his ears when he felt the soft caress of her lips upon his. He didn’t flinch or hesistate, completely commiting to the scene. His eyes closed, and his face relaxed. Though in his head he was reeling over how his flesh was so easily manipulated to kiss another woman who neither had his name or his heart. His lips moved upon hers, being firm yet gentle, but closed. An on-screen kiss. His arms, however, completely wrapped around her warm waist. He held her closer to his body as the kiss lingered on.
Leo pulled away with the softest of sighs, his nose touching hers before completely pulling away. His eyes opened, and it was clear that he was in a bit of a shock. The whites in eyes widening around blown pupils as he looked back at his quote unquote love interest. He cleared his throat though his voice still came out raspy, still in shock, “Okay, now that better have worked.” He cleared his throat again. “Or else, I’m gonna need more than one drink for second base.” He joked, hiding behind humor to get over the unique experience. He was completely sober in this intance and he began to really feel the guilt of his actions. His left hand dropping from her waist as his wedding band felt heavy around his finger.
