2022 December is the third-ish year in the Star Wars fandom (feels weird to be interested in one thing for this long!!?) so here's my Jedisona to celebrate the occasion.

can you imagine if Anakin had actually died in Order 66, defending the temple - almost everyone else's perspective remains the same, except Obi-Wan's and Padme's. Obi-Wan comes back from Utapau, still warned by Yoda, still insistent to find out the truth, only to see footage of Anakin being shot in the back by his own men. Padme waits on the balcony for Anakin, but he never walks through her door again. For the rest of her life, some part of her always expects to hear a familiar energetic knock at any moment.

Much like with Obi-Wan and Vader, some part of Obi-Wan never accepts it at all. To Obi-Wan, Anakin is always just out of sight in the corner, tinkering with a droid. He knows that Anakin is dead; that Anakin died alone on the grimy, cold floor of the Temple. This is a fact. But still, in Obi-Wan's mind, Anakin is simply just out of sight with a droid.

Oh man. I was a wee lil' lassie of around 11yo when I discovered fandom. I was mostly a reader at the start, on FanFiction.com and I remember the big all capital letters in bold saying, "I DON'T OWN [FRANCHISE/CHARACTERS]!! THEY BELONG TO [CREATOR]! THIS IS JUST FOR FUN I MAKE NO MONEY OF THIS!!"

Sure I didn't understand at first (being too young and with English as a second language) but once I dipped my toes into the fanfiction writing I honestly just copied what older cooler kids were doing and put disclaimers. It's so fascinating reading on history behind these disclaimers.

So I’m on AO3 and I see a lot of people who put “I do not own [insert fandom here]” before their story.

Like, I came on this site to read FAN fiction. This is a FAN fiction site. I’m fully aware that you don’t own the fandom or the characters. That’s why it’s called FAN FICTION.
