psađŁïž: hi angel! and hello to my trent girlies! i havenât written for trent before so i hope you enjoy this đ€
you felt stuck. constantly looking around and avoiding the man that had consumed your thoughts in ways you didnât picture. feeling awkward and timid when he walked past you or your eyes connected.Â
the trip was last minute, you didnât plan to go if it wasnât your friend insisting you went since she would be alone. you didnât want to go, it meant you would have to see trent after you avoided him since he confessed his feelings to you.Â
trent wasnât one to speak much. always reserved and kept to himself, a completely different person on the pitch and in real life. but with you, he felt he could speak for hours about everything, not once get tired of it. you let him be the person he wouldâve never pictured to be.Â
what went wrong?Â
he knew you from the back of your hand. needed to keep yourself busy in order to survive. an almost graduate from uni and working at your dream internship. a small volunteer worker just outside the city.Â
he knew when you lied, scrunching your eyes brows and hands twitching. he knew when you felt happy, the small wrinkles and dimples popping on your face. he knew you were upset when you bit your lip and unfocused around your surroundings.Â
trent knew you felt the same way he did but this time he couldnât properly read you, left hurt and confused by your manner. âiâm in love you with y/n⊠iâve never felt like this for anyone before. and it feels so right when iâm here, with you.âÂ
his brows drew in when your smile slowly dropped, pulling your hands back and cleared your throat. âtrentâŠâ you whispered, you clenched your jaw unsure of what to say. âi need time to think of this. i-i-i just donât know what to sayâŠâ you stood up and grabbed your coat.Â
âsay you love me back,â trent prayed in his head, watching you stumble around to retrieve your belongings. âwhat do you mean? i confess how i feel and youâre running away?âÂ
âi need time to think. this is all so sudden, and i donât want to pressure either of us. or give us false hope,â you smiled trying to reason and not break his heart. but trentâs heart broke, a millions thoughts racing in his head and the idea of not being enough tracing back.Â
he fluttered his lashes and painfully smiled, was he about to cry? is this what pain felt like? a stab in the heart, millions of needles poking in his chest as his hands fisted. âwell you know the way outâŠâ trent motioned with his hand, walking to the side to let you go.Â
you approached him, having the urge to explain why you said what you said, but he walked back. tears came out your eyes, knowing you hurt the man you loved in front of you. âtrent,â you croaked, but he just shook his head.Â
âdonât.âÂ
not a single soul knew of the two of you. a private secret. he wanted to protect you from his hectic world. and you wanted to have something genuine and real. you had something real. had. but like always you ruined it. like every person who walked into your life, leaving because you were scared.Â
trent was straight forward with you. always communicating with you. the only person you found yourself lurking to at the end of the day. his touch lingering on you ever when you werenât together. the way he smiled made your heart heat up and your hands slightly tremble.Â
you didnât deserve him. you were a broken person. afraid of committing. you were afraid of love. the idea of falling for a person, so hopelessly devoted to them, and in the end for it to not work out. you easily got attached, and it wasnât any different with trent.Â
trent had a way different life than yours. lights, money, women, his job, all shining on him wherever he went. he had a family, friends, a base supporting him, while you it was just your sister and trio. he constantly reminded you he wasnât the person in the papers, which was true.Â
he valued you. he trusted you. he confided in you. he respected you. he loved you. why couldnât you just allow yourself to be with him? why did it feel hard to finally accept and take the leap of faith and be with the man who has ever truly loved you?Â
you were stressed. constantly turning in your sleep. eyes closing but your head refusing for you to sleep. chest rising and falling as you listened quietly to the rain fall. the sheets barely covering your body, and the pillow feeling less fluffy and now hot. with a small groan you stood up, the time reading almost 4 am.Â
you tipped tied downstairs. walking by the room your friends and his friends were occupied in. the thunder and lightning shining in the open and clear windows. you opened the cabinet and grabbed a glass, pouring cold water to relieve your dry throat.Â
you closed your eyes, hands gripping the counter as you felt goosebumps suddenly rise. âcouldnât sleep?â you gasped quietly, the glass slowly tipping before quickly catching it and standing up straight. trent stood there, bags under his eyes, lips pursed with his arms crossed. muscles flexed under the loose black tee he wore with his black calvin klein boxers.Â
âsomething like that,â you said, averting your gaze, hand coming up to brush your skin or maybe the nerves away. he stepped closer, inspecting you, noticing you were wearing the small black shirt he owned with your batman themed shorts. âsame. couldnât sleep with all the noise outsideâŠâ trent confessed, also grabbing a cold glass of water.Â
you went quiet. the feeling of guilt consuming your insides as you kept asking yourself if this was truly happening. you couldnât stop staring, savouring maybe the last few glances in case it would be the last. trying to make a mental imprint of the moles you traced while he slept, the small scar under his brow, his lips.Â
your throat went dry again, but this time the cold glass of water wasnât going to help, the only thing that could was finally take that leap and let him out of misery for the two of you. âtrentâŠâ you said softly, hearing him and finally connecting eyes.Â
âdonât you think i deserve an explanation?â he asked with a sad smile. you bit your lip and nodded. âyes you do. and iâm willing to explain everything, but i understand if itâs too late,â you respected his feelings knowing he deserved this but also not wanting to push him to the limit.Â
âi love you. i do. so much. i need you to know that before i start saying anything,â his eyes widened a bit, mouth opened to say something but you shushed him. âfor once in my life, i canât let you or us go. i made the mistake that night and i beat myself for it. not only did i hurt you in the process but also the idea of us.âÂ
âiâm scared,â you teared, smiling. âitâs scary to feel this way. to have my heart racing when i hear your name, our song, your voice. love to me always felt like a joke or fantasy. love is about letting someone know your map of flaws and imperfections. to fully be vulnerable.âÂ
âlove with you though? is like a dream come true. you understand me more than i understand myself. you saw me for who i am and not the person i put myself to be. you love me at my prettiest and also lowest. you hold me close, kiss my forehead, and use those words of reassurance i need to hear and always believe.âÂ
âi love when you sleep next to me, where i get to stare at the prettiest man on earth as you sleep. i love to see your smile get bigger when i tell you about the kids at my volunteer work or my jokes. i love to sit with you at the end of the day and allow me to hear about your job and family. to see the flowers you send or bring when i see you. trent i love you, so much.âÂ
âiâm scared to lose you. to lose the only person iâve let into my life this close,â you shrugged smiling painfully, holding yourself tighter as you wiped your tears away. you hear his footsteps approach, sobbing quietly when he pulls you closer to him, his hand brushing your head, feeling his lips kiss your temple. the longing feeling replaced with warmth and safety.Â
your skin becoming hot and getting rid of the cold goosebumps and chilling feeling in your chest. you kiss his chest, tip toeing up as you continue to trace his neck and jaw, his cheeks with kisses mixed with your tears. âiâm sorry. iâm so sorry trent,â you apologised, your hand gripping his bicep.Â
âstop. donât torture yourself anymore. let me hold you. let me feel you. itâs just you and me, okay? shhhh,â he hushed you, repeating his same movements to help you calm down. you sniffled, pulling back slightly after a minute. âi deserve you. i love you, and your imperfections and flaws. for allowing me to become the man i wished and longed to be.âÂ
âplease donât push me away anymore. you arenât ever going to lose me, because what we have is eternal. your love to me is a safe space, the world and women i dreamed of having and i finally have it now. itâs you, always will be you baby,â he brushed your tears away, feeling your lips kiss his wrist and hand, losing himself in your eyes.Â
âi love every single part of you.âÂ
the chilling counter made you hold trent tighter while laughing, feeling and hearing his deep chuckle as his hands traced your thighs. âare you ready now?â he asked, kissing your collarbone. âmore than ready,â you said, officially taking the leap of faith.Â
he sighed and let his shoulders fall in a relaxed manner and smiling, watching as his eyes closed and lashes touched his upper cheeks. âtrent look at meâŠâ he stood up and grabbed your chin, âi love you,â you felt the need to say to confirm your feelings and his. âi love you, pretty girl,â his nose nuzzled into your neck, tracing all the way up to your cheek.Â
you sealed the night with the anticipated kiss. getting the blood rush through your veins, as you fully focused on him. his lips feeling like home. his fingers bringing your face closer to his and getting lost in the way he devoured you. not in a rushed or hard manner, in a passionate and loving way.Â
âmy girl officially.âÂ

a/n: you are all so beautiful/handsome and donât let anyone tell you otherwise. i hope you know that whenever youâre feeling low, there will always be someone you can come to or share your feelings to. and even if you donât have someone, i can be that someone. i love you all and hope you have a wonderful day/night <33333333
donât copy my work or translate it on anywhere unless i give you the permission to
It all began small. At first, it was the popcorn you didn't want while watching a movie. Chad didn't think too much of it because he assumed you weren't hungry or something.
Then it became whenever you two were together. You, his girlfriend, would never touch or even glance at the food he offered.
When he made something for himself and asked if you wanted something, you said you weren't hungry.
He began to pay attention to the small details, the signs you gave. But he wasn't sure if he was seeing things correctly.
Today was no exception. He observed how you looked in the mirror when trying on clothes during your trip to the mall. You looked like you were about to cry which broke his heart a million little times. If only you could see yourself through his eyes.
He approached you from behind and wrapped his arms around you. When he kissed your cheekbones and left gentle kisses on your neck, you giggled.
"What was that for?" You laughed as he backed away. He shrugged with a slight grin and glanced down at the shirt you were wearing. He knew you liked it. He knew it from the look on your face.
âYou look beautiful in this, Y/n.â He said, tugging at your shirt gently.
âReally? Because I feel like this doesnât suit me.â You spoke, still staring at yourself in the mirror.
âReally. And it does suit you.â He assured with a big smile on his face.
After a long day of going to the mall, and bowling after that, you decided it was time to go home.
You and Chad were walking towards your dorm hand in hand. His was mind filled with thoughts. All of them about you.
When you had entered your dorm, Chad was standing in the doorway as you took of your jacket.
âChad? Since when are you scared to come inside?â You chuckled, walking over to him. You draped your arms around the back of his neck and pulled him inside with a giggle.
His expression however didnât change and your face fell at this.
âIs everything okay, my love?â You questioned him, growing worried about why your boyfriend wasnât his cheery usual self.
âY/n. You know you can always talk to me about anything, right? Anything that is bothering you.â He put his hands on your waist.
âI know, Chad,â You smiled, âand you should know you can do too.â
âI know. I know.â He sighed. He really wanted you to know you could tell him anything. He hoped that if he said this, you would consider telling him about your problems.
He planted a soft kiss on your forehead and leaned his forehead against yours. âYouâre so beautiful, Y/n, inside and out.â He muttered with his eyes closed.
Your heart skipped a beat. You wondered why he was like this all of a sudden. Itâs not like he never complemented you, itâs just that this compliment felt different.
Suddenly you could feel the tears bubble up and you hated yourself for it. You blinked a few times to blink them away, but before you knew it, tears streamed down your face.
Chad opened his eyes when he heard your sobs and pulled you in closer. With his arms strongly wrapped around you, you cried with your face in his chest.
He rubbed your back soothingly, whispering sweet nothings.
âI donât deserve you, Chad. Iâm a complete mess.â You sobbed.
âThatâs not true, Y/n, I donât deserve you and you deserve so much better than me.â He says, planting a kiss on the top of my head. I wanted to protest, but he didnât let me.
âBesides your my mess.â He jokes and you could hear the smile in his voice. You laugh at this and his smile grows wider by hearing it.
âLook, Y/n, you donât have to tell me anything if you arenât comfortable with it or if you just donât want to.â He whispered, his hand still rubbing your back soothingly.
âI know its difficult, but Iâm so proud of you. I believe in you, okay? And Iâll always be here for you.â
His reassuring words made you feel somewhat relieved on the inside.
You pulled away a little so you could look him in the eyes. âThank you, Chad.â
In that moment, in his arms, you wish you could stay like that forever. You wish you could be with him forever.
âI love you.â You whispered, your eyes never leaving his as you saw them soften.
âI love you too.â Chad whispered with a lovesick smile while wiping away your tears. He was happy that you knew you could come to him for whatever.
Whenever.

an: this might be my favourite piece iâve written for some time. itâs lengthier, so sweet itâll melt your heart (it melted mine!), and say hello to the other characters for me would you? feedback and requests are always welcomed. enjoy! <3
âplayers, please prepare for bed. you have ten minutes until lights out.â
there was something in the air. something ugly and perverse, and you saw it every time you glanced to the other side of the hall. every time you made eye contact with a man. the hunger in their gaze wasnât for food, but for you. maybe to the other women around you, too, but with the amount of eyes settling on you, it felt personal. targeted.
the longer you sat silent in the company of your group, the more you seemed to focus on the unease growing in your stomach. the more you seemed to catch the occasional word from the other side of the room. pretty girl, they said without enough worry about being discreet. so little, they whispered.
itâs only when you caught parts of their plans for you that the heat drained from your body, along with any semblance of confidence that youâd had earlier of surviving the night.
but maybe survival isnât what you wanted if they did get ahold of you. maybe death is what you were really after. the guards, always eager to pull the triggers of their big black guns, but would they grant you that mercy? would they interfere with games? with the immorality threatening you from what felt like every corner?
the call of your name was gentle.
you glanced up and caught dae-hoâs soft eyes. the warmth returned so quickly to your body, you wondered if the sun had been made obsolete.
he sat opposite you on the benches your group settled around, lunch trays strewn messily over the floor as you finished up your supper.
âyes?â you replied, but the shakiness of your voice was evident even through one word.
dae-ho glanced down at your hand and you followed his gaze. your carton of milk a crumpled mess, squished to the point that milk oozed out the hole your straw poked through. you gasped at the milk trickling down your wrist, and quickly wiped your skin with the sleeve of your jacket.
he watched you with a frown, concern knitting his brows together. âare you alright?â he asked, the softness of his words tinged with the worry bubbling in his chest.
you nodded, too quickly to quash his suspicion, and the squeak of your âyes!â was the icing on the cake.
dae-ho sighed and pushed himself to his feet, crossing the small distance between you to settle at your side. he wordlessly used the sleeve of his own jacket to wipe up droplets of milk you hadnât even realised had dropped onto the thighs of your sweatpants.
âyou donât need to worry,â he said quietly, close enough for only you to hear. he lifted the edge of his jacket to your face and tilted your head to wipe up a little trickle of milk from you neck. âhow hard were you squeezing?â he gasped quietly, brushing one final drop from your cheek with the pad of his thumb.
you sheepishly lowered your head. he pressed his thigh against yours, a silent show of support, and his way of encouraging you to meet his gaze once more. you did, and nearly flinched at the worry that brought out the tiny fine lines in his forehead.
âi mean it,â he repeated. âi wonât let anything happen to you. not now, not ever.â
you wanted to believe him. you wanted to believe he could fight off all those men, all those who wished you harm. but he was only one man, and no matter how mighty and brave, no matter how hard he would fight for you, you knew he wasnât a superhero. he couldnât beat impossible odds, no matter how hard he would try to.
suddenly that feeling gnawed at your stomach again. you wanted to leap into dae-hoâs arms, let him shield you from the dark, scary world. the monsters you feared would get bold in the dark. but you couldnât. you could only glance back across the hall, at the hungry gazes stuck on you like an angry, unrelenting wasp.
dae-ho called your name again, but this time you couldnât look up. he repeated it, his hand lifting to catch you cheek, trying to block your view of the men. trying to refocus your attention to him, to the man who would stretch and tear himself into three, five, seven, however many bodies he needed to become your hero.
but it was jung-bae who got through to you. the short and stout man who warmly took you under his wing, who accepted you as a little chick in his bird nest, and who gave you a father figure in a place that felt far from home.
âyouâre trembling like a leaf!â he gasped, his own hands plucking up yours, before leaning in closer to examine your face. he caught your chin in his fingers. âwhat is it, chicken? whatâs bringing you such fright?â
his comfort drew you closer, and you shifted closer until your head fell against his shoulder. âiâm worried⊠about tonight,â you said, sneaking a nervous glance to the other side of the room.
the oâs. although they matched the numbers on your side, their presence was twice as ominous, and it would only be worse under the veil of darkness fast approaching. the tension slowly spread through your muscles, and suddenly it was no longer just your hands shaking. legs, arms, anything that could contract, trembling as you pictured the men across the room as only silhouettes. your thigh bumped into dae-hoâs, and he caught it with one of his big hands, holding it flush against his. he traced patterns over the cotton of your sweatpants.
but you were only growing more tense.
jung-bae gasped, pulling his hands from yours. âow!â he cried, rubbing soothing circles into the palms of his hands, looking to you with surprise. âsuch strength in such a little girl!â he said, and you caught a glimmer of playfulness in his wide eyes.
your head sank sheepishly. âsorry, sir,â you apologised.
âand yet, the manners of a princess!â he exclaimed, approval rife in taking your hand to squeeze. he lifted it, shaking it along as he said, âa princess has no reason to fear with her noble guards around to protect her.â
you held his gaze and tried to smile, tried to believe him, tried not to think about the hungry gazes harassing you from the other side of the room. you couldnât help look up, see the danger targeted right at you in the lick of lips, in the sly grins, and suddenly the shaking in your hands vibrated through jung-baeâs body.
âyoung-il!â suddenly your hand was swept in the direction of your newest ally, and jung-bae shook it as he said, âstrong, clever, fierce.â
young-il nodded firmly, a confident smile pulling at the corners of his lips as he held your gaze, but you were quickly locking eyes with gi-hun as jung-bae warmly said, âgi-hun! loyal, determined, kind.â
the warmth of his eyes was all the convincing you needed, but gi-hun still reached out to squeeze your shoulder reassuringly. thatâs the kind of man he was.
âjung-bae,â jung-bae said of himself, slapping your hand into his chest this time. âmarine,â he said, lifting his other arm into a flex of his bicep, and while you saw no activation in the muscle, somehow it didnât matter. it was the pride in his eyes, the conviction in his tone as he said, âwise as time,â and you believed him. âand handsome as brad pitt.â
the widening of your eyes preceded your surprised giggle, but you couldnât cover you mouth in time to suppress it.
jung-baeâs eyes blew wide again. âshe laughs!â he accuses in mock disbelief, glancing between the other men in your group, before settling back on you. âmany women say jung-bae is the one that got away!â he insists, but only grins wider as you stifle more of your little giggles.
your hand still in his thrown around again as he pretends to take offence, but he soon eases into calmness again, before leaning in closer.
âdonât forget, there are two marines here,â he said quietly, and you barely caught the flash of mischief in his eyes before he suddenly straightened his back, snapping his other hand into a click as he commanded âdae-ho!â with such authority that he jumped immediately to attention.
âyes, sir!â he shouted back, unflinching as his chopsticks crashed and clanged on the hard floor under his feet.
jung-baeâs chest swelled with approval. âare you afraid?!â he commanded.
âno, sir!â
âof men?â
âno, sir!â
âof the dark?â
âno, sir!â
you caught the sly smirk jung-bae shot you, before asking, âof jung-bae?â
âno, sir!â
his face dropped into a scowl, and he swatted a hand to the side of dae-hoâs shoulder, landing a blow right against the ink of his marine tattoo. dae-ho didnât even flinch, back still straight and standing tall, his eyes fixed ahead with determination.
jung-bae asked one final question of him. âwhat of the men, the ohâs, behind you?â
a beat is not skipped when dae-ho sharply insisted, âno, sir!â
jung-bae slowly turned back to face you, a warm confidence as he said, âthe dark is frightening. itâs where monsters live, where evil lurks. but what can defeat the dark?â he asked, leaning back ever so slightly to let you ponder, inviting you to look at the three other men in your alliance. each one stared back warm, kind, determined, and when jung-bae leant back in, you understood him when all he gently said is âlight.â
you couldnât seem to look away as dae-ho held your gaze, the quiet confidence radiating from his kind eyes, and suddenly the tension in your muscles faded away. the trembling of your hands subsided, and you werenât gripping onto jung-baeâs hand so tightly.
dae-ho offered you sincerity when he promised, âtheyâll have to get past us to get to you,â he said. âthrough me.â
he offered his hand out, and jung-bae lifted your hand to meet dae-hoâs. you took it, fingers interlocking as he gently but effortlessly pulled you up from the bench. he rested your entwined hands against his chest, leaning down to press a kiss to your skin. he gazed down into your eyes.
âi would set all the money in the world on fire to keep you safe,â he said so gently, you swore your knees would give out. âlet me be your light,â he referenced jung-bae, nodding a head toward the cluster of your bunks. âstay with me tonight, in my bunk.â
you didnât need to think about it. âplease,â you whispered, holding onto his hands tighter.
the corners of his lips stretched into a smile softer than his breath on your knuckles as he kissed your hands again.
he climbed up the benches towards the bunks, stopping patiently after each step to turn and help you up. your legs were shorter than his, and he didnât want to risk you catching your knee on a sharp corner and getting a bruise. but when you got to the ladder of his bunk, he dropped your hand to take purchase on your hips, lifting you with ease up the first few rungs.
he followed after you, glancing up and holding a hand out just in case you lost your footing.
âcareful,â he warned as you approached the shelf of his bunk, rushing up the last few steps just to reach out and cover the sharp corner of the bunk above. you ducked your head under it, and his hand dropped to your lower back to help guide you in.
he joined you on the thin mattress after you settled down.
âare you cold?â he asked, fingers catching the zip of his jacket, waiting for your command.
âa little,â you admitted, but stopped him from declothing himself by placing a hand over the zipper on his chest. you lifted your eyes to find his. âcan you lay with me? please.â
dae-hoâs gaze softened. âyeah,â he breathed gently, and you wondered where his voice had gone. he slowly lowered himself onto his back, one arm spreading out for you to curl up to his side. when you did, he closed his arm around your body and secured you in place. to him.
you nuzzled into his side. everything about him was so safe, and you wondered if it was the lingering scent of his shampoo or his gentle breathing that made your eyes heavy.
he held you, gentle but firm, while the others in your group climbed and settled into the surrounding bunks. the presence was suffocating in the best way. all around you, a friendly face, a willingness to shield you from danger, and for once in your life, a selection of men you could count on.
it dawned on you, like this, that jung-bae was right. the ease in your chest came down to the shield around you, the men willing to protect you for no reward, for no recognition. everything to gain by letting you get eliminated in the dark of night, and everything to lose by letting you live. but yet, they chose the latter. they chose to guard you. their princess.
and even as the lights turned out, when the shadows played tricks on your eyes, your hands didnât tremble. they laced with dae-hoâs, who pulled you in closer, lips pressing against yours in a silent promise.
âiâll see you in the morning,â he whispered.
as the heaviness in your eyelids became too much to fight off any longer, you took one last moment to savour the warmth radiating from his body. only then, with your head in his chest, the chill leaving your body, did you realise that yes, so long as dae-ho was here, the sun was obsolete.
i could sleep easy in dae-hoâs arms. please like, comment, reblog. love <3
heâs so me i canât even

Squid Game Masterlist
The divide in the room was clear. Each side equal in terms of numbers yet Y/N could feel the murderous gazes from the âOâ side of the room. While others around her talked to one another, trying to ease some of the tension, Y/N sat on her own. She wasnât too far away from the rest of the group but she was far enough away to be able to breathe.Â
For the entire duration of her time in the games, she didnât have a single change to calm her body down. Even when she slept she was always on high alert. Taking a step away from everyone was what was best for her right nowâ especially when she needed to prepare to defend herself if it came to that. Y/N didnât miss the way each player had received a glass bottle and a metal fork with their meal when they hadnât before. Her fork was securely concealed in her jacket.Â
Y/N rested her head on the cool tile wall and sighed. The room seemed much larger now compared to when she had woken up only days agoâ though to her it seemed like weeks. There were only one hundred players left out of four hundred and fifty six and somehow Y/N was one of them. Though she might not have been if it wasnât for one particular person.Â
Kang Dae-ho was someone Y/N never thought she would see in these games. They werenât exactly friends before the games, only worked at the same part-time job. But seeing him was like a breath of fresh air. If it wasnât for him, Y/N was sure that she would have been killed during the mingle game. The whole time, he had kept her hand firmly clasped in his. When the final round called for two players, he didnât hesitate to pull her along to a room, pushing her in first before himself. The fear Y/N had felt during that gameâ if Dae-ho hadnât been by her side she would have froze up and never left that rotating platform.Â
âY/N,â a familiar voice called to her before she felt the warm and comforting presence sitting beside her. âWhat are you doing over here on your own?â
Y/N opened her eyes, not realising she had closed them. âI needed to step away for a bit.â
Dae-hoâs thigh pressed against hers. âTell me next time. I didnât know where you went.â
Y/N turned to him and offered him a small tight lipped smile. âIâm okay.â
Dae-ho didnât return her smile, already knowing that it wasnât genuine. From where his hands were resting in his lap, Y/N watched as they twitchedâ hesitantly decided if they should reach out to her. Taking the initiative, Y/N held her hand out. A small flash of surprise appeared on Dae-hoâs face before he gently held her hand in his, linking their fingers together.Â
The corner of Y/Nâs lips tugged up in a smile as she rested her head against the cool tile wall. âI donât think Iâve told you but Iâm glad youâre here. Well, not here exactlyâ but here with me. Seeing someone I recognised made me feelâŠsafer. So thank you.â
Dae-hoâs gaze was fixated on their clasped hands. âDonât thank me. Honestly seeing you here made me feel safer even though I hate that you are trapped here too.â
âWe both made a stupid choice by phoning that number,â Y/N said. âWhen we get out of here, letâs not phone any strange numbers in the future.â
A quiet laugh emitted from Dae-ho and caused Y/N to smile. âAgreed.â
A silence washed over them but it was comfortable and if Y/N closed her eyes, she could pretend that they were in the break room at their shitty job. Instead of bidding goodbye at the end of the day like she usually did, she would take the risk and ask him for dinner. Finally doing what her friend had demanded of her when she first started the job and asking her attractive coworker out.
âI need to go to the bathroom,â Y/N said, standing to her feet, her hand slipping out of Dae-hoâs.Â
âIâll go with you,â Dae-ho offered, quickly standing with her.Â
âTo the womenâs bathroom?â Y/N asked, a soft chuckle leaving her lips.Â
For a short moment, Dae-ho seemed embarrassed but it quickly seemed to fade. âIâll keep watch outside.â
A small genuine smile tugged at her lips as she rested her hands on his biceps. âIâll be fine. You donât need to protect me, youâve done that enough already.â
âIâm sorry,â a woman a little older than Y/N said. Y/N glanced at the womanâs number. Player 91. âI overheard you going to the bathroom. We could go together, safety in numbers. I noticed some other women go there not too long ago.â
Y/N turned her attention back to Dae-ho. âSee, Iâll be fine.â
There seemed to be nothing that could convince Dae-ho but the moment she leant up and pressed a soft kiss against his cheek all rational thoughts swimming through his mind seemed to evaporate. Y/N laughed and gently trailed her hands down his arms to his hands, offering him a comforting squeeze. âIâll be fine.â
Slowly, Dae-ho nodded. âBe safe.â
As she took a step back from Dae-ho, he held onto her hands until she was too far to comfortably hold onto them. Y/N allowed her hands to slip from his but the moment his warmth fell away, she craved it once more. Y/N pushed her hands into the pockets of her jacket and offered Dae-ho one final parting smile before following the woman to the bathroom.Â
***
Y/N watched as the water dripped from her chin back into the sink as she sighed. She could only hope that not everyone was bright enough to realise they could freely harm anyone that opposes their vote and in the morning they would be able to vote and return home.Â
âSo you voted to return home?â a woman said, approaching Y/N.Â
Y/N didnât bother to look at the woman as she answered. âClearly, and anyone with a few brain cells would realise that is the best option for everyone here.â
The woman hummed. âDidnât you vote to continue the games during the first vote?â
âI did,â Y/N answered. âIt was a selfish decision and I regret it.â
âWhat changed your mind?â the woman questioned.Â
âAfter nearly dying during the second game, I realised that risking my life for money isnât worth it,â Y/N said, her grip tightening on the skin as Dae-hoâs face flushed in her mind.Â
During the six-legged pentathlon, their small group of five was already decided until Jun-hee came along asking to join their team. The moment she found out the younger girl was pregnant, Y/N didnât hesitate to join another team.Â
Dae-ho insisted that he should be the one who left but Y/N refused and found another team, she was one of the first to complete it with one second to spare. For hours she had sat on her bed watching the door waiting for Dae-ho to enter, her anxiety rising when he never entered. When he finally did, Y/Nâs heart rate still refused to drop. From then she realised that no matter how much money she would get if she continued to play, it wasnât worth nearly losing Dae-ho and the other friends she had made. But just the thought of losing Dae-ho sent Y/N into a panic she didnât see coming.Â
âSo those who died during those games didnât matter to you? Only your life matters?â the woman said, continuing to pester Y/N.Â
Finally Y/N turned and faced the woman. âRealistically those people would have died anyway. If I wasnât in these games then nothing would change, someone else would be here in my place and everything would turn out exactly the same.â Y/N glanced at the blue patch on the womanâs jacket. âSeems like you donât seem to care if people die or not considering you are too fucking selfish and you want more money.â
âCareful how you speak to me,â the woman said. âOnce all of you who voted to leave are gone, us who voted to stay will each have over 800 million won each.â Slowly, the woman raised her hand, a silver fork shining in the dim lighting. The fork was pressed against Y/Nâs neck as she looked at the woman standing before her. Despite the situation, Y/N didnât feel intimidated by the women at all, she was shorter and was physically weaker than Y/N.Â
âIâm only going to say this once,â the woman said, lowering her voice. âChange your vote, continue the games. If you do, I will make sure you get through to the end and get your share of the money.â
No matter how hard she tried, Y/N failed to contain the laughter that slipped past her lips. âIâd believe it if you werenât threatening me right now. How am I meant to believe you wonât backstab me in the next game?â
The fork was pressed deeper against her neck and Y/N winced. âYou need to trust me,â the woman said.Â
âTrust a woman who is one movement away from plunging a damn fork into my neck? I think Iâll naively believe that someone will come to their senses and change their vote by morning,â Y/N replied. âNow take that fork away from my neck.â
âOr what?â the woman asked, an unhinged smile spreading across her face.Â
âThe group that voted to stay are currently outnumbered in this bathroom, five to nine. If you fight, youâll be overpowered,â Y/N answered as the two other women who voted to stay slowly walked up to join the quiet altercation.Â
âYouâll never win,â the woman said, the fork leaving Y/Nâs neck. âWe may be outnumbered but you have more elders on yours, one punch to the head and theyâll be out cold.â
As Y/N glanced around at the other women in the bathroom, she noticed that most of them were older and looked as if they could not handle themselves in a fight. Y/N sighed. âDo you really care about getting a bit of extra money? If we vote to leave now we still each get a large amount of money. What if you die in the next game? Your last thoughts will be âwhy didnât I leave when I had the chance?ââ
âYou donât know a thing about me!â the woman exclaimed.Â
Y/N rolled her eyes and turned back to the sink. âI know that youâre an idiot if you chose to stay in this hellhole.â
The woman didnât respond verbally. Instead she gripped the back of Y/Nâs jacket, yanking her away from the sink. As Y/N stumbled on her feet, the woman sent a punch to her jaw, knocking off her balance completely.Â
The moment Y/Nâs back hit the floor, hell broke loose as people began fighting one another. It was just as the woman said, there were a lot more women who were physically weaker on Y/Nâs side. Almost immediately Y/N watched as a few of them had already hit the floor, a pool of blood forming below them. Y/N didnât take long to get back to her feet. Y/N wasnât a particular skilled fighter, she had learnt basic self defense and had never had a reason to use it. Just as Y/N thought, the woman was physically weaker than Y/N as she easily overpowered the woman, gripping tightly onto her hair.Â
âJust vote to leave!â Y/N yelled. âHow stupid can fifty people be?â
The woman struggled to get out of Y/Nâs grip. âIâll vote to leave when all of you are dead!â she snapped.Â
Y/N held tightly onto the womanâs hair as she threw her down on the floor. Before Y/N could think, she grabbed the fork concealed in her pocket and jammed it into the womanâs shoulder. The womanâs eyes widened as she cried out in pain. Y/N yanked the fork out and stood to her feet. There were still others fighting around her yet all she could do was stare down at the woman on the floor. Y/N hadnât killed her, only injured her, yet she still felt the guilt of that weigh heavily on her shoulders.Â
Before Y/N could even think about moving there was a force that sent her to the ground and she scrambled to get away before a force was pressed upon her body and she was harshly turned on her back. A more muscular woman sent a punch to her face before Y/N even had the chance to block it. With her vision blurry, Y/N failed to see the fork slamming down at full force towards her.Â
***
Dae-ho sat looking in the direction where Y/N had left with the other woman to go to the bathroom anxiously shaking his leg. There was something clawing inside of him that told him that something bad was going to happen. Of course he had noticed the forks everyone had been given and Gi-hun had only solidified Dae-hoâs beliefs that it wasnât unintentional.Â
Y/N had been gone for a while and it took Jung-bae forcing Dae-ho to remain seated instead of storming after her.Â
âI never asked,â Jung-bae spoke, noticing that Dae-ho became considerably more anxious, âhow do you know Y/N?â
âWe work together,â Dae-ho answered, not tearing his eyes from where she had disappeared. âItâs a shitty part time job but that's all that would hire me. I donât know why she is still thereâ she has so much potential.â
Jung-bae hummed. âIt seems as if you admire Y/N a lot.â
âI do,â Dae-ho said with no hesitation. âBefore now, we only ever spoke at work, but she was always so nice and friendly to me. I watched her interact with customers too and she always greets them with a smile and tries to make them smile. Afterwards I would always find her in the break room exhausted but she would always sit and talk to me if I was on my break. Once she shared that she wished to become an artist but her parents told her that it wasnât a sustainable career so she gave up.â
âIt sounds like a lot more than admiration you have for her,â Jung-bae teased.Â
Dae-ho quickly shook his head. âNo, it's not anything like what youâre thinking of.â
âHow about I ask Y/N when she comes back?â Jung-bae suggested.Â
âNo!â Dae-ho exclaimed, causing Jung-bae to laugh. Dae-ho sighed. âOkay, maybe it is like that.â
âThe following players have been eliminated,â the cheerful voice sounded throughout the room.Â
Dae-hoâs heart instantly dropped to the floor as he looked at Jung-bae, fear coursing through his veins.Â
âPlayer 201. Player 449. Player 091ââ
âThatâs the player who went with Y/N,â Dae-ho said, fear evident in his tone.Â
The players entered the room one by one and Dae-hoâs heart rate increased. From the looks of things, it wasnât only the women who had gotten into a fight in the bathroom as the men walked out too, blood covering each and every one of them. The cheerful voice continued to list the numbers of the players who had been eliminated and Dae-hoâs fear rose after each and every one. He should have somehow gone with her to make sure that she was okay.Â
The voice stopped listing off the eliminated players just as Y/N stepped into the room, the guard closing the door behind her. Blood covered her neck and stained her jacket. Smeared blood covered her hands too as she slowly stepped further into the room shaken up.Â
âCount your players!âÂ
The room immediately broke into chaos as each side counted their players and how many each side lost. Dae-ho didnât care as he ran over to Y/N.Â
âAre you okay? What happened?â He asked, looking at the injury on her neck.Â
âThey attacked us,â Y/N muttered. âI didnât want to hurt them but I did.â
Slowly, Dae-ho reached forward until he held his hands in front of hers. Without thought, she held onto them tightly as if grounding herself.Â
âThey attacked you first, you were only defending yourself,â Dae-ho reassured.Â
Y/N slowly looked up at him. âI know butââ
âBut nothing,â Dae-ho said, slowly pulling Y/N closer to where the rest of the group were standing.
Y/N nodded, squeezing his hands once more. âCan we sit down somewhere?â
Dae-ho gently guided her over to where Gi-hun and the others were sitting as someone counted how many of the whole group there was. Dae-ho gestured for Y/N to sit down first before he sat down next to her, his arm wrapping protectively around her waist, her body leaning closer to him.Â
âWhat happened to your neck?â Dae-ho questioned looking at the long scratches down the back of her neck that ventured under her collar.Â
âIt happened just before the guards came in to break up the fight,â Y/N muttered, her hand seeking out Dae-hoâs. âIf they didnât come in that second, Iâm sure that woman would have finished me off.â
Dae-ho noticed the distant look in her eyes and squeezed her hand to snap her out of it. âHey, I know itâs hard but try not to think about that right now.â
âWhat else is there to think about?â Y/N replied, her voice sounding exhausted.Â
Dae-ho shrugged, his thumb gliding across her knuckles. âOur job?â
âI nearly died and your response is to talk about our shitty job?â Y/N said.Â
âYouâre talking about it though,â Dae-ho muttered. âAnd I was going to ask you, what will you do when you get out of here? You canât stay in that job for the rest of your life.â
âPay off my debts,â Y/N answered. âAfter that, I honestly donât know.â
âYou wanted to become an artist, why donât you start there?â Dae-ho suggested.Â
Y/N looked at him, disbelief clear in her eyes. âYou remember that conversation?â
âOf course,â Dae-ho replied. Y/N looked at himâ really looked at him. The look immediately made Dae-ho heat up under his collar.Â
âI didnât think anyone really listened when I talked about what I am passionate about,â Y/N admitted.Â
âI listened,â Dae-ho replied.Â
âWhy have we never spoken outside of work?â Y/N asked.
âProbably because we both hate our job and pretend that it doesnât exist once our shift is over,â Dae-ho replied.Â
A soft huff of laughter left Y/N and Dae-ho couldnât stop the way his heart lifted at the sound.Â
âThat is true,â she said. âHow about when we get out of here, we change that? This definitely isnât the place or time to say this, but I have liked spending time with you and you have honestly saved me so many times and made this whole thing even the slightest bit bearable. So when we get out of here, why donât we go for dinner? Iâll pay, itâs the least I can do.â
A wide grin formed on Dae-hoâs face as he nodded. âThat would be nice.â
Y/N gave him a smile in return before she rested her head on his shoulder, relaxing her body into his side. The gentle grip he had on her waist tightened as he pulled her closer to his body. While Gi-hun spoke to the group in a hushed tone, Dae-ho only remained half listening as he held onto Y/N. A new sense of survival overcame himâ he would get him and Y/N out no matter what.Â

part one part two
A pain shot through your heart. An incredible intense pain. And there was nothing you could do about it. Nothing but sit there and watch as he talked to you. Sit there as he told you how he didnât want you anymore.
What had you done? Were you not good enough? Thoughts raced through your head as you stared at him. You shouldâve seen it coming, you really shouldâve. But how could you, when you were so blinded by love. So blinded that you couldnât see him slowly disappear.
âY/n, I still love you. I deeply and truly do. But⊠I think we should stop seeing each other.â The sentence that broke your heart echoed in your head. Repeated in your head a million times in a haunting and taunting manner.
Neteyam had came up to you from behind earlier, wrapping his arms around you. You were talking to your close friend and was surprised by his sudden action, a giggle escaping your lips.
He had whispered in your ear that he wanted to speak with you at your usual spot. And you had agreed, not knowing what was bound to happen. With a smile you had excused yourself and went after Neteyam.
You had sat down on a rock, making yourself comfortable, while he was still standing. It was as if he was in a painful discussion with himself. After he had sat down across of you, he told you. He told you the sentence you had never expected and never wanted to hear. Especially not from him.
After he was finished with his rant, he looked at you with those eyes. Those beautiful, piercing yellow eyes you couldnât get enough from. Those beautiful eyes that had turned into your home. But you felt that home crumble and fade away.
âI have to go,â He said, getting up almost immediately, not letting you speak at all. And with that he left. He just left. He left you no choice but to stay there forever.
So you were still seated on the rock, as if you were frozen in time. Thatâs when the emotions broke loose. Tears were streaming down your face. You were sobbing uncontrollably as you thought about your memories together.
The time you were braiding Tukâs hair and he saw it. And he asked you to do the same with his, with the most adorable smile on his face. The long talks you had together while walking. The times you went flying, shared kisses and so many more.
All gone. All shared for nothing. All shared only for him to leave you just like that.
When you finally stopped crying, you decided to stay there. You werenât planning on sleeping, not planning on doing anything in fact. You didnât want to face anyone right now, afraid of what they would think or say about you.
A soft rustle was heard and you desperately wished it was Neteyam. Neteyam coming to you to apologise, telling you it was a sick joke or something. But you knew it was too good to be true.
Your close friend who you had spoken to before had emerged from behind the bushes. She brought you back home, comforting you along the way as you cried and told her everything.
She had brought you to your tent, where your parents were worriedly pacing back and forth. They hugged you and cried at the sight of you. You hadnât realised you had stayed there for that long. Your parents told you how much they had missed you, how worried they were when you hadnât come back home before eclipse.
During the upcoming weeks all you could think about was your memories together. Everything in your usual routine reminded you of him. Because almost everything you did was with him.
You smiled at the thought of that. Every day when you did your chores, you thought about him. You knew you had to move on, but it wasnât easy.
And it didnât help that you had seen him a few days ago. You were going to the healers tent, always helping out every once in a while when needed. And thatâs when you saw him.
Neteyam looked like he wasnât fazed by your breakup at all. He was still the confident, handsome naâvi he was before and during your relationship. He was laughing, talking to someone you had seen him help out before.
It killed you, knowing he was fine while you werenât. Knowing he was joking and laughing, when all you did was force a laugh or fake a smile in every single one of the few interactions you have.
It killed you that you felt like you were entirely stuck in the past, regretting every decision you made, while he was out here having fun.
The days past and all you did was do your chores and thatâs it. And whenever you hung out with your friends you just watched as they had fun with one another.
You were seated on a rock, sharpening a stick as you avoided all contact with anyone. Your face was emotionless, just as you were feeling from the inside. Footsteps approached you and your heart couldnât help but skip a tiny beat. A tiny bit of hope that it was him blossoming in your chest. But it wasnât.
You looked up and saw your friend, a bright smile on her face and her loverâs arm wrapped around her waist. It made you think of Neteyam and you. And the incredible pain got even worse.
She told you about how her and her lover had finally mated. She teased him about it and he did the same, laughs and giggles shared between them.
You were happy for her, of course. But your thoughts were entirely consumed by Neteyam and your memories. Of what you were before he decided it was for the better to separate.
Thatâs when you realised, you were still entirely stuck in the past, while the others made their future.
You were right where he left you.

Sieun hadnât taken much interest in girls during his life. Other than the fleeting first crush he had when he was fourteen, girls had been the last thing on his mind as he focused all his energy into his grades. But there was just something about you that Sieun couldnât ignore. Without realising it, he was falling head over heels in love with you and he didnât even have the courage to speak a single word to you.
You sat a seat up from Sieun one row over, a spot which allowed him to admire you silently whenever he wanted (which was increasingly becoming the only thing he wanted to do). Whenever the window was open on a warmer day, the breeze would always reach your hair and blow in just the way to take Sieunâs breath away. He had become an expert at pretending to be absorbed in his notes like he always was, but his gaze always found its way to you eventually.
The first person to realise was Sooho.
âYou like Y/n or something?â Sooho teased, dropping into the seat in front of Sieun, making him look up from his notes which hadnât been added to in the past 20 minutes despite the pencil in his hand.
âIs it obvious?â Sieun said in a panicked voice, eyes glancing over the mostly empty room just to make sure no one was listening.
âGiven that she has the power to take your attention away from your studies, Iâd say so.â Sooho pointed out, grinning.
âWhat do I do?â Sieun sighed, dropping his pencil, dropping his head into his hands.
Sooho leaned back in his seat, pretending to think, âAsk her out, obviously.â
Sieunâs eyes widened, âWhat?â
âWhat?â Sooho echoed.
âI⊠I canât ask her out.â
âWhy not?â
Sieun flushed, â...Sheâs too good for me.â He mumbled.
Sooho raised his eyebrow at this, âOh, youâre more whipped than I thought.â He gave Sieun a lopsided grin, finding the younger boy adorable. âLet me guess, youâve never had a girlfriend before?â Sieun shook his head. âDonât worry,â Sooho nodded as he spoke, âI can help you.â
âHow?â
âPrivate lessons.â Sooho concluded, standing up and patting Sieunâs shoulder before walking out of the classroom. Sieun stared at him as he left, feeling the anxiety rising and he tried to gulp it back down.
//
Sieunâs first âprivate lessonâ took place the next day. As he worked his part time job at the restaurant, Sooho gave all the advice he had to Sieun. Most of it went right over the smaller boyâs head, but he tried his best to at least write it all down on a notepad. He would need all the help he could get in order to even approach you, so he studied diligently.Â
âFigure out what she likes first. If she likes strawberry smoothies, buy her a strawberry smoothie. If she likes stuffed animals, buy her one. But be nonchalant about it, like you just happened to know that it was her favourite. Girls donât like it when boys are obsessed with them.â Sooho explained as he sorted cans of soda.
âAm I too obsessed with her?â Sieun said suddenly, halting the movements of his pen.
âNo, no, donât worry about that. Sheâll love you, youâre very lovable once you open up.â
âWhat if she doesnât?âÂ
âAnd what if she does? Stop overthinking it and write down what I say, okay?âÂ
Sieun left that first lesson overwhelmed. He had never thought so hard about how much eye contact to make or what pick-up lines to use. He was starting to feel like maybe he couldnât do this. You were way out of his league and didnât even know he existed. He was stupid to even try.
When he arrived at school in the morning, his head felt as cloudy as the sky outside. It was encroaching on a darkness but still clung to the cusp of a light grey. The clouds swirled around and hid the sun, a harsh breeze shifting the leaves on the trees.
Sieun opened his backpack to get out his notebook, but his attention was immediately drawn to a small bottle of mango juice. Sooho must have stuck it in. He grabbed it and found a sticky note with unmistakably Soohoâs handwriting scrawled on it.
I heard from her friend that this is her favâ remember what I told you ;)
Sieun sighed and peeled the sticky note off of the bottle, recalling all the steps Sooho had meticulously given him the previous day. Act cool, donât try too hard, donât act interested at first, etc.
Sieun busied himself with studying for the next hour, waiting for when you arrived to class so he could give you the juice. You walked in with a boy beside you and Sieunâs heart sunk. His eyes flickered between you and the boy who was clearly clinging to your side. Sieun thought that maybe you looked uncomfortable, but he didnât know for sure. He just forced himself to look down at his paper, missing the way you instinctively looked at him, a mixture of disappointment in your face.
Sooho offered Sieun a ride home after school, eager to know if he had successfully made a move on you. âDid she like the juice?â Sooho asked brightly, passing Sieun the motorcycle helmet.
The other boy was silent as he put it on, still processing his disappointed emotions. Why did it make him feel like he was about to explode seeing someone else so close to you?
With the long pause, Sooho was quick to pick up on what had happened, âDonât tell me you didnât give it to her?â Sieun nodded quietly, affirming Soohoâs suspicions before sitting down on the motorcycle without another word. Sooho sighed and joined him, turning on the engine with a loud rev and entering the lane on the road.
//
You had known Sooho since your 5th birthday. He was that one kid who no one really knew why they were invited to the party, but ended up being the star anyway. He had caked you in the face on your 7th birthday as a prank, and now it was a tradition at every birthday.Â
No one was really aware of how close you two were, since you didnât spend much time talking at school. Sooho was always sleeping and you were always spending way too much time being distracted by the most beautiful eyes- studying. You were studying.Â
It had been months of your studying being rudely distracted by this⊠certain someone, and your grades were realistically suffering because of it. You needed to do something about it, and luckily for you, Sooho was friends with this boy. It was like the stars had aligned.
âSooho!â You sat down loudly at the desk in front of the sleeping boy, earning a tired groan as the boy attempted to wake up from his slumber.
âWhat?â He rubbed his eye lazily, waiting for you to bring up what was so important as to interrupt his precious sleep.
âI need to confess or else my grades will crash and burn.â You said dramatically, much to the confusion of the boy in front of you.
âWho are you confessing to?â He asked groggily but a bit more alert than before, thoughts of Sieunâs failed confession running through his brain immediately. What if you liked someone completely different? Should Sooho still encourage Sieun to confess to you?
âSieunâŠâ You muttered weakly.
âWhat?â Soohoâs eyes brightened when you repeated Sieunâs name in clarification. âI have a plan.â
Soohoâs plan was the most absurd thing you had ever heard. How the heck was randomly showing up to Sieunâs apartment going to achieve anything? What did he expect you two to do? Eat dinner?
Sooho had dropped you off 30 seconds ago and sped off on his motorcycle before you could figure out exactly where you were and bombard him with questions. He didnât give you any instructions, any pointers. All he said was that Sieun had something to drink. You were confused and a little annoyed and scared. You would probably embarrass yourself in front of Sieun and then that would be the end of it. You wouldnât have the courage to even look at the boy ever again.
You hesitantly knocked on the door since Sooho had threatened you in case you chose to run away instead of doing anything. As the door opened, you were faced with the pair of eyes that you expected. You watched as shock flickered over them.
You could practically melt right then and there just from looking at him. You had never actually seen him in clothes other than his school uniform, and while he looked good in it, he looked infinitely better in this; a soft crew neck and sweatpants. You could only imagine how comfortable it would be to hug him or even cuddle-
Your thoughts were shut down when Sieun spoke, a little timidly, âDo you want to come in?â His voice was soft like it always was. He never really talked much. Even when answering questions in class, he spoke in as few words as possible. You couldnât lie, you found it endearing.Â
You nodded and walked through the door, finding the apartment unsurprisingly clean. You took off your shoes, staying in just your socks. Sieun tried to look for a spare pair of slippers to give you, but the only pair was his dadâs which were comically too big for you.Â
You gave up the search and walked to the couch to sit down. You could feel this warm feeling in the air, like some simmering tension. It wasnât uncomfortable, in fact, it gave you the slight sensation of butterflies in your stomach.
Sieun sat next to you on the couch but not too close and you were both silent. You werenât sure what to say or where to start. You had asked Sooho for help with confessing, but it would seem too abrupt to start with that. You wanted to warm up to Sieun first, though you werenât sure how long you could wait before the words fell out of your mouth.
âDo you want a drink?â Sieun asked and you smiled. So Sooho wasnât lying with that part.
âWhat are the options?â
âUhâŠâ He dropped his head, thinking for a second before running to the small fridge and pulling out a bottle of mango juice, âYou like this⊠right?â
You nodded, âYeah, I do.â
Sieunâs lips turned up into the cutest smile you had ever seen in your entire life. You felt like you were floating on clouds from the elated feeling. You made him smile.Â
Once you had received a glass of mango juice, the conversation started flowing a bit easier. You talked about school and hobbies and your favourite foods. Though Sieun didnât say much, you could tell he was always listening to what you were saying. That was a bit unusual to you. You were always used to being ignored or thought of as obnoxious when you talked, so you rarely felt comfortable saying what you wanted to. With Sieun, however, you felt like you could say anything and he would listen.
It was late in the night and Sieun was preparing a small dinner for you both. He had been overwhelmingly kind and considerate that you felt your will to not confess being slowly withered away. You were about to crack, you could feel it. As soon as he did one more thing to make your heart flutter, you would have to spill it otherwise you were sure you would explode.
Your resolve was finally broken while you were eating. You were sitting across from Sieun on the floor, food spread out as best as Sieun could make it. You had a small bit of sauce on the corner of your lip, and before you could notice yourself, Sieun had leaned across the table and wiped it off gently with his thumb.
Your cheeks flushed pink at the touch. You were lucky you didnât have any food in your mouth otherwise you wouldâve probably choked. You were stunned, staring at the boy in front of you. And then he smiled as if he was shy but happy to help. You could see his ears had turned pink at the tips, and then finally your mouth was spitting out words before your brain could catch up.
âI like you, Sieun.âÂ
//
âIâm nervous Iâll do it wrong.â Sieun whispered, head dropped to look at the floor. You could see his cheeks a bright red and you were sure that your boyfriend was the cutest thing this world had ever created.
âYou wonât be able to mess up cuddling, I promise.â You reassured him.
âBut Iâve never done it before⊠What if-â
âYouâve hugged me before.â You cut him off. He nodded. He had hugged you, many many times. He wanted to hug you right now. âItâll just be like a prolonged hug⊠except more relaxed.â You understood how the thought of cuddling could feel daunting for him. He had been touch-starved his entire life. âIâll show you how it works, but⊠you need to come here first.â You giggled and patted the spot next to you on the bed.
Sieunâs face flushed more and he joined you carefully, scooting next to you. You grabbed his wrist and tugged him even closer to you, âItâs hard to cuddle when there's a gap between us.â You explained with a smile.
You decided it would be best to make the first move, so you wrapped your arms around his waist and rested your cheek on his chest. He was even more comfortable than you couldâve imagined, and you wondered why you hadnât done this before. He smelled clean and calming, your nerves instantly becoming soothed by being so close to him.
He had tensed up at first, not sure how to respond and hyper aware of how fast his heart was beating. You were so pretty and the fact that you were hugging him so closely? Sieun would probably never recover. He figured that wrapping his arm around your shoulder would be natural, and he soon discovered that the position was 10 times more comfortable that way as you snuggled even closer to him.
âYour heart is beating so fast⊠Nervous?â You mumbled, peering up at him with a small teasing smile.
âYeahâŠâ
âMe too.â You whispered, a smile growing as you could feel both your hearts beating at the same fast rate.
Sieun was an excellent cuddler, he just didnât realise it. He naturally started rubbing your arm in a soothing way until his hand travelled up to your hair and started playing with it. You were sure you would become addicted to cuddling him after this. Maybe you would ask him to cuddle with you everydayâŠ
âCan I kiss you?â You asked suddenly. Sieunâs hand stopped playing with your hair.
âI⊠Iâve never-â
âI know. Me neither.â You said shyly, âIt just⊠seemed like the right moment, but if you donât-â
âI do. I really really do.â He said firmly and smiled a little. Your heart was already melted from the cuddles, but it was as good as evaporated at the sight of his smile.
âOkay.â You cupped his cheek cautiously before leaning in, not quite touching his lips, waiting for him to lean in as well. He pressed his lips to yours softly, timidly moving them in case you were uncomfortable or he was doing it wrong.
Sieun was an excellent kisser as well.

Being a girl is: wanting to go to bed early but deciding to just get on tumblr/wattpad/Ao3 for a little bit and then end up finding a fic series that you really like and read until well past your usual bedtime then keeping on because itâs already past your bedtime. Then being mad when you wake up in the morning because you overslept your timer.
